    Tubeway Army/ Gary Numan.

    Joy division / New Order.

Difficult to choose from my youth as it was a very busy period with all the new technologies being affordable by the masses. There was also a lot of rubbish though at the same time! Lol :-)

As far as individual musicians, any one who is good at there craft irrespective of style or genre. Got a lot of respect for folk who can play well! :-)

@Nu2moro Another man of my interests! I love the classic Gary Numan/Tubeway Army stuff!! I'd love to hear your stuff as well! :-)

Ok, let's play this game, I'm feeling inspired:

McFerrin, Hancock, Beck, Bill Withers, Trentemoller, Beatles, James Taylor, Marley, Camille, Jurassic 5, Mr Scruff, The Pharsyde, Tunng, Ali Farka, LCD Soundsystem, The Coral, The Bees, Elvis Costello, Tom Waits, Jamiroquai, Fat Freddy's Drop, Harry Nilsson, the Meters, Tim Buckley, Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber.

I apologise if I left someone out. If you're that person, you know who you are. I would also like to thank my friends and family without whom all this would have not been possible.

    God bless.

    Then it gets harder, but

I think this may give each of us a better understanding of where others are coming from in discussing the nuance of how we work.

I didn't even post mine in my own thread!

    Here are mine:

    a. Sonny Rollins -- East Broadway Rundown
    b. Ministry -- The Land of Rape & Honey
    c. A Tribe Called Quest - grew up on and hung with -- Low End Theory

    Honorable Mentions:
    a. Alice Cooper (1st concert I saw when I was like 12)
    b. Herbie Hancock (still remember my Rocket 33 ' EP with the green cover) - bought it to use for break dancing and scratching.
    c. Black Flag -- teenage rage with relevance in the emotions I have today

No one mentioned them so I'll put out Ween out there. They started out recording with a 4 track cassette home studio then got signed. I like them because they covered many genres on their albums. I saw them perform at the Electric Factory in Philly.

you've missed my second post Sir!

  • Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson, and Neil Peart!

  • Leonard Cohen, Jane's Addiction, Ozric Tentacles

  • I'm always finding music I've never heard before (and going back to music I love). I'd have trouble listing my top 30, let alone 3. Beatles, Bob Dylan, and Radiohead are a good start, but that leaves out Mozart, Skip James, Stones, Bee Gees, Talking Heads, tons of funk and blues acts, yeah, see it could just keep going.

  • Glad to see so much Tubeway Army love.

@tarekith, your list is the only one I've been surprised by so far (but I've heard more of your output via videos than I have of most others here so it's probably one of the few lists I'd have an opportunity to be surprised by).

@RustiK I still remember the first time I heard the Land of Rape and Honey. I'd listened to Skinny Puppy and the like but I was still like "they made this with keyboards?!??!!?" I don't listen to it at all these days but your #1 and #3 are fairly regular in my rotation—great albums.

I like his early stuff - I saw him on the Telekon (or whatever it's called) tour but it was all screaming girls throwing their knickers on the stage by then

Al Jurgeson had bunch of projects if I remembe

Pailhead, Skinny Puppy, Pigface with Jello Biafra, and a few more. Revolting Cocks.

Short story : I worked at a venue where Ministry played. There hotel room was littered with works(needles/pipes) and all other things that make your head spin. Literally.
It was actually them while on Lalapalooza.

  • Snarky Puppy, recently, some moons ago ...

  • @RustiK I loved pigface and revco back in the day but Pailhead is the only one that still resonates with me. Don't think he was a member of SP at any point but pretty sure he produced a record or two.

Yes definitely! it has been over 10 years since I lived out there so my memory is a bit hazy on who I saw and where. I think I saw Tricky with Emilíana Torrini opening. It was my first time seeing Torrini. She became one of my favorite singers.

  • Karl Wallinger, Thomas Dolby, Justin Currie

And Andy Pratt, Shawn Colvin, The Cure (Robert Smith), Nik Kershaw, Joni Mitchell, Jeff Buckley, The Beatles, Radiohead, Talking Heads, Ian Dury, Jackson Browne, David Bowie, Kate Bush, Peter Gabriel, Neil Young, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Steely Dan, Iggy Pop, John Cale, Elvis Costello, Magazine, Tuxedomoon, Supertramp, Dave Matthews, Pink Floyd, David Sylvian, Japan, Gilbert O'Sullivan, Nick Drake, The Doors, Herman Brood, The Tubes, The Motels (Martha Davis).

Couldn't resist. Too hard to resist. Probably missed some important ones.

Love Shawn. Saw her at the Camden Opera House a few years back. Just her and a guitar. Very good.
