Patterning by Olympia Noise Co, Pre Release Beta Demo for iPad
Please remember that this is still a beta version and some things may still change, many thanks to Ben from Olympia Noise Co for letting me preview Patterning that should be with us sometime in August, fingers crossed http://thesoundtestroom.com/patterning-by-olympia-noise-co-pre-release-beta-demo-for-ipad/

Thanks Doug for this pre-realease demo. The app seems to be interesting Because it brings another way to produce drum tracks on the iPad which is always welcome to boost creativity. Anyway, setting velocity seems to be tricky... Is It possible to set it at a desired level for a whole layer in a simple way ? Even if "drawing" surely brings life in the track, it is sometimes cool to have "mechanical tracks" if we want it.
Bloody Hell. Fresh, deep and awesome.
Love it. Also: check your personal messages.
It's easy to set the velocity, I was just trying to give you a feel of how easy it is to draw stuff in, if you take a little more time, then it's going to be more as you like it, trust me this thing funky and fast, gotta say my top three drum machines are Patterning, Diode 108 and Elastic Drums
looks cool
The sample import may just propel this app to a class of its own. I also hope that chordion will get some of this awesomeness in its next guise.
I'd say this app will give me a good reason to 'clean out' many of the other drum-apps on my iPad. Just need to copy all the samples into AudioShare first...
All I'd love to see now is numerical feedback when 'drawing' on the circles i.e. levels in % and pitches in semintones etc. for super accurate editing, the level of automatisation is insane
So because it's a drum app it's "beata" and not "beta"?
Excellent demo, Doug. Looking forward to this app.
This looks seriously good, like App of the Year good. I'm curious how it links to the other apps by this developer, like Chordion, as it showed in that one section.
Cool. I also use Diode and ED a lot and I really like them (except all the presets in ED that I would be so happy to almost have the choice of keeping or deleting them...)
@1P18 sorry, all that does is link to the app store, that whole section is their contact stuff
Too great for elixir-stew!
Bosch and Ellectrolux should have a plug to iPad!
Different timings and step lengths for each sound is a "hallelujah" moment....
... But then , no pads to play in manually??

Ah, got it. Should have figured that out from the Instagram link.
Very much looking forward to this one.
I think developers should just release the apps without teasing us...make the app then launch, no dangling carrots..surprises are often better appreciated than hype..
Disagree.
Looks like the drum app to get
Oooh. Thanks for the video Doug!
I need to freeze frame the bit where you flick over to the Midi config page.
I'm hoping that some of those per step effects can be sent out as midi cc's (ideally of my choosing).
I'm also liking the idea of the probability bit - and then pointing it at Gadget as a midi controller.
Reminds me of loopseque. More powerful, although loopseque has some great features.
The probability engine is brilliant and so is Rotate, that will shift a pattern any number of steps you choose each time it loops once, for instance if you have hats on the 1,'3,5,7,etc if you set the rotate forward one step the next time round will shift the hats to 2,4,6,8 you choose the amounts of steps and whether it goes backwards or forward you can set this up however you like for each individual instrument track at the same time, or apply it to ALL
I think I'm going to love this app a lot!!!!
Really cool app. Does it have velocity-insensitive mode when drawing?
I was hoping for a demo of the euclidean mode... Anyway, thanks a lot for the demo
What catches my eyes/ears the most is the shear flexibility, different number of steps per instrument, different timings and full automatisation and control over all the parameters that affect the sound.
And well, finally something other than a 'grid' or 'piano-roll' for doing drums and i guess it will do recording from midi-source if there are no on-screen 'pads'.
I'm thinking the first 'thing' we wan't when it's realsed more is more sounds playing at the same time
That's the coolest part about it. You basically draw beats and velocity with one tap. Even better, you can draw a whole phrase with one swipe.
Loopseque has been on my one-of-these-days drawing board for ages, may end up staying there now...
Lol
i saw the timeline but is there a song mode?
WE WANT AUGUST..... WE WANT AUGUST..... SOON
If this app can do core midi syncing and sequencing synths, it will be a pfm (pure fxxxxxx magic)?
