Upon further investigation Beat Twirl (the iPad version of it) does almost everything I need. So thanks again BiancaNeve for pointing it out.

I have to say, the price and reviews about bugginess and limitations scare me away.

  • I couldn't get on with the pops and clicks at the cuts.. Not sure if that's still an issue.

  • I would say honestly that BeatTwirl needs an update to fix its bugs. It keeps crashing. It no longer works with audiobus.

I haven't experienced any sound quality issues - but then I don't use its composition features (you can add extra beats, rearrange slices via copy and paste etc).

But all that said, it's the only app I know of that you can:

    • throw in a sample

    • detect transients automatically

    • export all slices as a zip full of wavs

When it works, this is gold to me. It saves a lot if time hand cutting in AudioShare.

If AudioShare got this functionality one day it would be great.

Before I delete it, does anyone know how to import audio into Wavepad ? I've just got the free version currently, but it seems to be 'record only' with no way of importing audio otherwise -which seems pretty daft !

I deleted it, what were they thinking ?
