I'm not entirely sure I need this, as I have alternatives with both Glover/Gliss (awesome but expensive) and Midi Designer (for bluetooth, accelerometer X-Y pad), but the presentation of this on their website shows a lot of thought and care has gone into it. For $4.99 I think I might get it, if for nothing more than to reward their efforts (hopefully I'll love it and get a lot more from it). Also the videos make me aspire to an uncluttered desk, sadly mine just keeps accumulating repurposed ancient iOS devices.
Although all the 'packages' are for Mac DAW control scripts, I can't see why you couldn't just send midi control over bluetooth from one iOS device to another. I will report back $4.99 later...
@steve99 yea I don’t have the app, since I don’t have any synth hardware, or a Mac.
So - yes you can connect Skym by bluetooth midi between iOS devices. Skym only offers connection as a bluetooth host - i.e. you need to 'advertise' on the receiving device. I find this a bit 'wrong way round', but no big deal as you can have simultaneous bluetooth connections as client and host on a device.
Skym can send any 3 CCs and/or a note on a given midi channel, so it's good as an X-Y pad. The best bit seems to be that it responds to 3D touch for the 3rd axis of control, BUT, as far as I know that feature didn't make it past iPhone 10. I have an iPhone 7, so all good here for now, but strange this requirement doesn't seem documented anywhere as necessary to get the most out of the app.
I think this might be more of a party trick app for me, can't see it particularly enhancing my creative process, but party tricks are always handy when i'm trying to advocate for iOS music (and the pleasure of filter tweaking).
Do not miss this one! It’s a great, great app.
Right on. Thanks for the info. They kinda sell it as a sound design tool which lead me to believe you could manipulate more parameters. Maybe have on a 2nd Device as a controller only.
Thanks for pointing this out, it looks very cool. Missed it! And it's now $4.99.

Yep!. Moloch Vox is a good one!.
I’m alway searching for a good pitch shifter, basic use case is make a bass line out of a guitar, so I downloaded Moloch. Pretty good pitch shifter. No warbling and hardly any latency. Just compared it side-by-side with Nembrini Quinta and Moloch has a lot less latency, Quinta is pretty bad.
But besides the straightforward pitch shifting you get a shitload of crazy stuff that’s actually very interesting. Glitchy artifacts, pad-like textures… and mapping the “freeze” function to a controller is very promising.
So far liking it a lot, highly recommended, for under 2€ it’s a no-brained.
