However, I’d say they are different enough to justify getting both.

The consensus of this forum is always ‘buy all of them’ :D

And the other, classic Forum viewpoint of "this is the best, the only filter/delay/reverb/whatever you'll ever need" and then a few months later new product by Bleass is released and suddenly it becomes "the best, the only filter/delay/reverb/whatever you'll ever need", and then another new product is released by Fab Filter and it becomes "the best, the only filter/delay/reverb/whatever you'll ever need" and then a few months later a new product is repleased by Eventide and it becomes "the best, the only filter/delay/reverb/whatever you'll ever need".... and so on.... all mixed with the moronic cry of "instabuy"

What is really mind-blowing when I see responses like "instabuy" for plugins that have objectively poor audio quality. For example reverbs with horrible non-flat frequency response not seen since cheap desktop plugins from the 90s.

We as a community should really step up our professional independent review game. I say independent, because I've seen a professional review (with deep technical analysis) from a real DSP expert who also sold their own iOS plugins, but used a bogus measurement on their own product as they compared to those from a range of competitors, and guess which products looked bad.

So in addition to our current reviewer community, who are more creatively focused, we badly need more technically minded folks who do a deep dive with various analysis tools, etc.

  • Bark Filter is down from £8.99 to £2.49

  • Thanks, @bygjohn. It looks like all Virsyn/Harry Gohs apps are up to 70% off, with some at new lows - https://apps.apple.com/developer/id382428644

I'm sure Popps or someone will be along with the obligatory screenshots.

AudioLayer for $9 is incredible value. It's worth it for the integrated orchestral library alone. The other one that appears to be 70% off is Addictive Pro. Nobody makes additive synthesis more intuitive and AP is the pick of Harry's additive synthesis apps (although it can be processer intensive on oil older devices). AudioLayer isn't without its faults but there's no better multi-sample app on iOS.

Never realised Audiolayer had an orchestral library.
Can you comment on how it compares to orchestral IAPs in the likes of Module and Beathawk?

I know it’s been mentioned but just adding the pic/links. Aka obligatory screen shot. Lol.

That’s a good price on Addstation

  • Microtera down $7 to $2.99… might grab this one…

    https://apps.apple.com/us/app/microtera/id819266128

There’s too many to list and not all of the are on appsliced yet but some are really low on price

  • VirSyn's advanced Bode frequency shifter - BandShift is $2.99. Awesome app. Does the 27-band thing like Bark Filter and BandDelay.

  • If I could get just one VirSyn additive synth, which would you recommend? The diversity of overlapping options is kind of confusing. Also, I’m a little hesitant due to the typical VirSyn UI/UX issues, so I’m also open to “get something else entirely.”

  • OT

iDevice News is free usually $.99 - apple & apple products news

    https://apps.apple.com/us/app/idevices-news/id944192633

    I confess 😅
But I dig deep in every app I buy. Several months on AddStation…
    So I am half-forgiven here.

I really think you should get both AddStation and Addictive Pro, especially whilst they're $7 rather than $20. They each feature significantly different takes on additive synthesis and AddStation doesn't include the Virsyn arpeggiator, which is a really powerful aspect of Addictive Pro - the tempo drift is a particularly unique aspect of the integrated ARP. And the manner in which you can modulate the filters and morphing via the arpeggiator is ace too.
