You could drop samples or recordings for guitar/hammond riffs and whatnot and play them slices...
LUXE is very subtle, but when/where it works it's very nice. Definitely worth five bucks.
Thanks, that's a great suggestion. I saw something a bit like that on YT, but it sounded a little 'glitchy':
Maybe it just takes noodling with the slicing?
Thank you (and the others who responded as well), this is very helpful!
Technically not a price drop, but this is a freebie from Klevgrand: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/rassel-pocket-shaker/id1575364575
It’s a shaker, btw.
Count it. Lol. Thanks.
Surprise surprise…

You're free to record whatever you want and place slices wherever you need them.
You could record a complex guitar riff in small portions and Frankenstein it by triggering the slices in faster succession.
Whether that sounds natural depends a lot on how you've played and where you've set the slices but if you're into such experiments, a bit of practice could get you somewhere
The "glitchy" sound in the video comes from the very short slices, you don't need to use them that way.

I know there are other elements in the equation, but I was hoping someone could speak on the cpu consumption of cube synth pro? Just a range is it lightweight, average, or heavy? Thanks
I just tried it out in a few ways and it looks to be quite lightweight on the CPU. Opening presets and holding many keys didn't get me past 7% when I was running in standalone, and currently I've got eight instances and Fugue Machine going with a ~28% CPU average after finding some more hungry patches.

Used up my edit right quick and didn't add the machine: iPad Pro 2018
It's definitely one of my most CPU-hungry synths.
I usually notice a big jump in CPU usage when I add it to an AUM set with many other plugins i.e. where the CPU meter is probably a more reliable indicator of true CPU usage as it's less likely to be throttled due to the high processing demand.
I saw a very similar effect when using AddStation in the same scenario, which with its 512 partials per oscillator places quite a demand on the system.
They do sound amazing though, so i just have to be careful not too run to many other heavy hitters at the same time.
It's a separate puchase for Mac but at £12.99 it's probably worth it even if it's 'only' AUv3 and therefore won't work as a plugin in all desktop DAWS...
All Fingerlab IAPs are 50% off over the weekend.
I ended up getting it. Thanks!
Checked with Nikolozi (the Mela dev) - here's his respose:
"Mela 2.5 is a free update to the existing Mela 2 users. On the Mac App Store, it may look like you need to buy it again but if you've already purchased Mela on iOS, your account won't be charged. You will have to click "Buy Now" on the Mac App Store and once you press confirm purchase, it will say the update is free. I know this is confusing and it's very frustrating that Apple hasn't fixed this issue yet.
It's a universal purchase. You buy Mela 2 once and can run it on iPhone, iPad and Mac."
Just unlocked sk51.
What do people think of PolyWave and Flynth?
Presumably they’re normally £5
Edit…
Don’t worry, just unlocked them both. Cup of coffee prices.
Dope
Thanks @tehskwrl @craftycurate
Some guitar and bass lesson apps on sale.
Good catch @gregsmith
How about mynth too? that one looks cool only $2.99 to unlock.
How’s Polywave Greg? I like drawing waveforms.
Finger lab apps on sale. IAPS are discounted down to $3.99-$2.99
Mynth
Flynth
Mellowsound
Philacordia
Polywave
Sk-51
Any favorites in the bunch…? I guess I’m most interested in Polywave? Any opinions.
Got Mynth too 😂
Haven’t had time to play properly yet, but just surfing a few presets confirmed I’ll at least get my moneys worth.
Their UI’s are pretty too, if you like skeuomorphic vibes
I don’t have PolyWave but Mynth & Flynth are superb. Mellowsound is a great and iPhilicorda is a must-have if you enjoy those kinds of sounds (personally I love them, and the ability to ADSR them is awesome).
Finger lab apps are all worth getting into. Other than the ones already mentioned, there is also Musyc Pro (and a free version) that is not on sale and seems to be abandoned (no update in a couple years). Which is a shame really, as it’s a lovely toy and so much fun to play around with.
I think none of their apps, even new ones, support Bluetooth midi natively and that’s a bummer. You can use a BT midi controller with some extra steps involved though (e.g., trough AUM).
Cool. Thanks.
