For what it's worth, I've bought the choir, funk, trip hop and electric piano packs, all of which I consider worthwhile. I've also got the talk vox, latin percussion and world percussion, which I wouldn't buy again. Plenty of stuff in the percussion packs to be spread across the 'keyboard' etc, make kits with, but I find I'm using this as a fast and intuitive thing with samples from the outside world much more likely to spice things up. Sometimes working fast seems to work better. YMMV
I've only purchased the trip hop pack and I quite like the drum hits. Was expecting a few more droney things but those are easy enough to generate myself.
Per track distortion (distortion/overdrive and perhaps bit crush) and compression would stretch these sounds quite a bit.

Ah sorry, I missed that bit - I'm getting old and my mind is going. I think I'm after flexibility more than anything, and prefer to avoid too many distinctive or excessively genre based samples. So if there are good all-purpose beats, synth and bass sounds then I'll be able to cobble something together. Generally my stuff is very 'out-there', but it'd be useful to have a good, quick compositional app for the basics, and I can add some weirdness via other apps. The list you posted looks good though.
@JohnnyGoodyear @syrupcore - thanks, think I'd also be tempted by the choir pack.
This is from their press release:
"BeatHawk launches with 15 available expansions including; Acoustic Grand, Brass Riffs, Choirs, Disco, Electric Piano, Electro Pop, Funk, Guitar Loops, Scratch, Talk Vox, Trip Hop, Atlanta Urban, West Coast Urban, Latin Percussion and World Percussion, with more expansions slated for release during the following months."
There are SoundCloud demos on their website if you want a taste.

OT a bit, but I'm guessing that @Beathoven must be in marketing. This has to be the most popular "new to the forum" post I've seen!
I think that the more I read and see about it, beat hawk is not for me. I love the fact that it's inspired more music to be posted on this board though!
I'm kind of getting more into the creativity of it's limitations, it's kind of a weird vibe as usually with limitations things get slowed down but since it's such a quick app you have an unusual mix of fast+limit thats cool, kinda fun to push it
Same here @kobamoto. I'd dearly appreciate a bit of sound mangling but im thoroughly enjoying it.
By the way, here is one "hidden" feature:
In Pad mode, when repeat is toggled, you can change the velocity by dragging your finger while pressed. Helpful to create changing velocities HiHat
that's great!
Do the Brass & Guitar soundpacks also include the drums in the demos?
UVI, I'd love to see a better description of what's actually in the IAP packs. I bought the disco or whatever, thinking the great sounding bass etc would be regular instrument patches, instead they are pre-recorded loops. Why would anyone want that in an app like this?
Repeat also works on the velocity screen. Good fun.
@DaveMagoo, will need to check with sound guys but I don't think so
@ChrisG, isn't there a description of the content in the picture stating how many loops and instrument no ? (don't have the app in front of me)
@Syrupcore, indeed
There are loops, samples, instruments and phrases. Hard to know what "a sample" means, a pre-recorded loop thing, or a one-shot sample. Phrases/loops not quite sure what the differences are here.
There are so many loops, plucked from other sample libraries in here, I've heard most of it before (and have it as well). What I'd love to see here, especially on all the drumloops, is the ability to at least rearrange the slices. That would be one way to spice up these old loops
Just select the little keyboard icon and use pitch for each slice
Yea thanks, done that. Went back to have a look. And there are loops that are sliced, but there's also a lot that aren't.
Hope this clarify things
Yes, thanks @otristan !
When there was multiple solution regarding what is a loop and what is a phrases, the solution was to use the best sounding algorithm (slice or granular style timestretch)
A drums can be using the regular timestretch if there are lots of overlapping sounds which usually defeats the slice technique.(rhythmic loops with sustained bass notes for example)
Yep, I gotcha.
Down the road, I'd like to see perhaps options like turning off the loops, set your own loops points and so on (if say, you want to make a string instrument but need to cut out the last part of that particular string phrase/loop). Blah, I hope that made sense.
Anyways, good app, I'm having fun with it.
I have a problem when I open BeatHawk in IAA.Doesn't work.I must open BH first and then the host. Sent a mail to UVI and here's the answer:
Dear Ivan,
Thanks for contacting us and for your report.
Something is planned for a near future.
Thanks for your patience;)
Stay tuned from your Appstore!
All the best from UVI,
Support Team
Ripple edit in song mode would save a lot of time...
What is this magic you talk of?
Hi, I am the main dev of beathawk. Our support answered a bit fast, we are just coming back from the NAMM and we are a bit overwhelmed.
Regarding IAA audio I am going to have a closer look, it should work because we use audiobus , and audiobus integrates IAA.
Welcome to the forum @BastienCo the fans of BeatHawk over here would love to hear of any future plans you have for the app.....are you in a position to share any information about future dev plans?
Edit: just read your post about file management....great news..
that's definitely a missing feature!
Finally getting back to this thread. I like BeatHawk. The chorus sounds are really nice, and some of the included instrument sounds are great...inspiring even.
However, one bit of crucial app info has been left out here; no one has mentioned that the Latin Percussion IAP contains Sixteen Different Cowbell sounds!!! OMG!!! Best app ever (for cowbells).
More cowbell...
@BastienCo Thank you very much.I asked you in the post about Beathawk feedback here in this forum.Developers must love-hate users especially when is the first release;-) In my case,I just open Beathawk first and everything works fine.Realy like this app. Thanks again.
Ripple mode is a lovely thing whereby -if enabled- when you delete/remove something in the timeline everything past that point shuffles down to close up the space rather than leaving you with a shitload of fiddling about to do. Sorry for the intensely technical explanation. Love it in Auria and BH needs it too. Along with a few other fairly standard actions there in Song Mode. For all of that I'm currently just thrilled to HAVE a song mode
