It looks like All Holderness Media Apps are discounted. Several are iPad only, a few were just rereleased. Basically they are all $2 off at $2.99 each.

Interestingly some load up nicely as FX in AUM (like Crystalline) but others don't (like Caramel Crusher).

@Simon - If one of the apps won't launch directly in AUM, try launching the app manually first and then load into AUM.

That wasn't the problem - the problem was I AM AN IDIOT!

I didn't have the app installed on my iPad - I must have deleted it some time during housekeeping and forgot to put it back. That's why it wasn't in my list of FX in AUM. I re-loaded all your other apps but not Caramel Crusher.

    Working fine now. Thank you!

  • Thanks for the info @HoldernessMedia i actually wanted to mention the app updates but it slipped my mind. Cheers.

Nah mate, I try to remember to do that with every new app, or after an update, but I often forget since there are so many apps on my device, lol.

That is a great rule of thumb, always open a new app up in standalone before using it as an AU, or IAA to ensure the app is fully loaded, on the network, and ready to roll.

Anyone tried this? I know it's really cheap but I'm looking for a reason not to buy it :D

Pure Acid, Troublemaker, Gadget Chicago and a Behringer TD-3 really should be enough...

  • I am VERY happy that Holderness has updated etc. I think the Stereo Designer was/is the best of its sort....

  • Talk seems to indicate auv3 but nothing on the product page about it. Are these auv3?

Thanks man, glad to hear it! These updates are for the long dedicated users, as well as for myself to be able to run them stable on recent devices and versions of iOS. These apps are all 10+ years old now and Echo Pad is almost 12 years old, so hopefully people will appreciate being able to still run them and should be able to for years to come now.

No, these are not AUv3, these updates fix the stability problems that had crept in over time when running the apps on newer versions of iOS, for any long time users who had continued to just make music using Echo Pad, Crystalline, etc. as part of their toolbox instead of focusing on the lack of AUv3 connection.

The filter and filter envelope are a bit wonky but you can coax nice acid sounds out of it. It’s not a straight 303 clone like Pure Acid. Gets closer to a 303 sound than Troublemaker though. Some interesting additions like amp envelope and a flexible distortion stage. Continuously variable wave shape is a nice touch. Sequencer is better than @FPC’s Behringer but not as nice as PA. All the controls show up as AU parameters so that’s good.

At $2.99 I don’t regret buying it but I’ll probably still reach for PA or Chicago first.
