I have no interest in continuing this with you. You've already shown in this thread an unwillingness to take in properly the arguments I make. Each time you respond you ignore most of my points and move the goalposts. This strategy is very familiar. If I'm not mistaken we have had a variation of this discussion already on Instagram and I don't want to waste my time in that way again. You are very sure of your opinions but you are also not at all informed about the level of work involved from the YouTuber side.
@Simon yes, Beatcuttter - it took me about a week of full time work - testing and learning and making that vid on Beatcutter. It was tough work, the manual was terribly convoluted, even more so than the release version. There is also a lot of behind the scenes work people are never aware of. To take just one example, I spend many hours a month testing and learning apps that I might make vids on but decide not to. There's also a lot of admin and correspondence. Anyway, over and out.
Sorry, I have other things to do, this conversation has already taken too much of my morning. Feel free to reflect on it yourself for a while.

@Gavinski imo no need to even defend yourself buddy. I know when comments are made that are not an accurate depiction of the situation it’s hard to let them slide. Most of us know the deal, understand the situation and respect your work.
Please feel free to share your hard work in this thread whenever you want buddy. Stay Up mate.
Thanks @Poppadocrock and @offbrands, I appreciate it. It seems @TheAlgorithm was banned and that thread has disappeared. This seems like a good place to mention that I had absolutely nothing to do with that banning, did not complain about this user and am surprised they were banned and the thread closed. Dealing with that thread and defending myself etc was stressful and unpleasant, I didn't see any particularly ban-worthy behaviour though.
It is a pity that entire saga ended up derailing my day, as I was planning to make a video and this stopped that happening. The next few days I have other commitments so now that video will maybe never happen. Maybe I should just not have engaged from the beginning, but it would have annoyed me more not to engage than it annoyed me to actually engage. It is also another example of the kind of 'work', sometimes unpleasant work and also unpaid, that can be involved in doing what I do. Extremely tiring and depressing at times to have to deal with this kind of stuff.
@Gavinski It didn’t even enter my head that you’d ask for that. The nature of the thread, how it was created and how the creator responded to posts was always getting it pulled. Which is sad because if discussed in good faith, it could have been a great discussion.
FWIW I thought you handled that exceptionally and are to be applauded for your forthrightness and honesty.
For what it’s worth, I don’t think your time today was a complete waste either although I sympathise that your plans got derailed. In fact I found what you and others had to say very interesting. Try to enjoy the rest of your evening.
Alot of us Dig what you do man!
I think the dude was just jaded he can’t win free apps if they are on your patreon 🤣
Nothing wrong with how you do things, and your videos are great my brother!
Dude had too much time on his hands to argue over iOS app YouTube channels lol
Thank you, very good to hear and I do actually agree with you that that was in many ways a discussion worth having, even if the OP's motivations were, at least initially, somewhat hard to perceive as benevolent. I felt the OP was also getting more reasonable as the thread went along. The main waste is that the thread vanished entirely after myself and others dedicated hours to thrashing things out - mostly reasonably civilly - there.
This is my perspective: So many youtubers have disappeared from this space in recent years due to the problems discussed in that thread regarding getting compensated properly after the scrapping of the Apple affiliate program in 2017. Unless people like myself open up about the amount of work involved and how meagre YouTube revenue in small niches actually is, there will definitely not be enough financial support from devs and viewers, and the number of YouTubers will continue to decline. Further disappearance of YouTubers will be a big loss for both devs and buyers and will make it harder for the scene to grow.
Although it is uncomfortable for me to speak about the brutal financial realities and it is uncomfortable for devs and viewers to hear, it's a discussion that needs to be had - preferably with all participants engaging in good faith - for the health of this ecosystem.
@Gavinski When I watch one of your videos the first thing that crosses my mind is to wonder how long it takes you to learn the app well enough to do the video. Personally, I think there was an assumption about the value to the developer of a limited patreon audience. There was really no basis to make any statement about that.
Thank you ♥. Yes, as I mentioned in that thread, with complex apps it's easy to half learn them. The hard and time-consuming part is involved in going the extra mile needed to understand everything thoroughly.
Then there is a certain amount of extra work in getting 'fluent enough' in the app to a) use it properly b) use it musically c) speak about it fluently and coherently enough. All, often, while working under immense time pressure.
It was depressing to see the OP appear not to understand or appreciate the amount of work and skill involved. And to see him fail to grasp that people have different needs and preferences and that that's OK and normal. He felt my vids were too focused on the obvious, but some other viewers think they're too advanced for them. It's impossible - and even undesirable - to please everyone. Some people love my vids some dislike them or me. That's fine, but they don't need to tell me that. They can just go watch the people they like.
Regarding Patreon etc and giveaways, yes, that OP seemed to miss various valid points made regarding all that by myself and people like espiegel. Most devs are happy to support our Patreon efforts, as they should be.
Thanks again for chipping in.
Lol. I don't think they were using AI for most responses, my impression was that the AI was just used for summarising the discussion in this thread. I agree when you say "from a spectator perspective it seemingly was just to speak down on every iOS Youtube creator who didn’t make videos to their very specific style of content they enjoyed". This is a problem with social media. Some people need to learn that just because they can express an opinion, and want to express that opinion, doesn't mean they should express that opinion.
Particularly when we get little reward from doing this, we want to at least do it in our own way, a way we enjoy and which reflects our own preferences and personality. If someone doesn't like it, fine, they can watch whoever they do like. I personally have little interest in watching most music production YouTube. So I mainly don't watch. I don't go round telling YouTubers why I don't watch them and elaborating on the ways they should change so that I'll start enjoying their content. That would be arrogant and ridiculous. But I and other YouTubers sometimes have to deal with such "feedback". People can give constructive criticism, particularly if they already have some relationship with the person they're criticising. But criticism from a stranger that basically boils down to 'I don't like your style' is very close to saying 'I don't like you', and is usually inappropriate.
TheAlgorithm joined on Oct 7 and had made about 10 posts - every single one was an anti-iOS YouTuber rant.
And every reply he made to me was designed to start an argument and inflame the situation.
It is good that the mods removed him - it shows others who might be tempted to follow his playbook that this kind of behaviour is not ok on the Forum.
How about those deals, eh?

If you’re into this thing, I would definitely recommend purchasing Private LLM.
That said, this appears to be an unquantized model of 3.2 1B. Private LLM only has quantized versions.
You do you. But I gotta say I miss the gavinski on YouTube. But obviously it’s not worth enough for me to commit to a monthly payment so do with that as you will.
But if I may ask, why do you choose to use twitter as a platform for the giveaways? I’m asking because I deleted my account when musk bought twitter. I feel like I ended up on another side of the world than you since patreon and twitter. Which is a bit sad for me. Please don’t feel like any of this is a critique or me wanting to bash you in any way. I admire your work and think you are great.

Hi Pia, don't worry, I know you're not trying to bash me, and I know that not everyone will have the money or value my stuff enough to support financially. That's totally fine, of course! The internet is a big place, we can't support everyone. But I don't really understand this comment, "I feel like I ended up on another side of the world than you since patreon and twitter."
Yes, some of my vids are exclusive to Patreon, but I do still post regularly on YouTube, Insta etc. Yes there are few giveaways outside Patreon now, but I need to do that to try to scrape a little money out of this, otherwise my work in this niche will really finish for good. Ultimately I have to put my own financial, mental and physical wellbeing above what my audience want, even those who, like you, like my stuff and appreciate me. In this case I posted on Twitter and not Insta or YouTube, as this post was more text based, with links, and Insta is not the right forum for that, as links are not clickable.
For what it's worth, I can't stand what Musk is doing with Twitter, it's terrible. Social Media of all kinds, including even YouTube to a lesser extent, is really a curse. I would roll back the clock to the pre-Web-2.0 90s in a heartbeat. I have thought about leaving Twitter many times. But I also don't think that all the more progressive or left wing people closing their accounts and moving to Threads is the answer. Anyway, I personally just use Twitter for promoting iOS stuff, I rarely engage with other content there.
Furthermore, I have spent a lot of time building my Twitter. Twitter helps me get the word out about Patreon, and my work there increases my value proposition to devs. So I just can't afford to shut down that account as it will further limit my reach, making it even harder for me to get compensated for what I'm doing. This niche is already so small as it is.
Hope you understand, Pia, cheers
