Sorry..starts Christmas Day
Anyone else ask for Apple Store gift cards this year?
Every year
Yup, that’s what I requested. My wife has been hinting she may have made some extravagant music gear purchase this year, so I have no idea what to expect.
We have technology for Modeled Percussion. See the recordings from 1997 below. Drums can be more complex. A bigger issue is that the UI for GeoShred is melodic (a keyboard). Drums and percussion really require different Diverse UIs. A drum like UI, a keyboard based map or a TR808 style drum machine UI. The sounds are the least of it. We'd love to hear from you about how you think modeled percussion should be presented in a UI.

For the first time in my life. Spent more on music apps than video games this year, never thought I'd see the day in my life.
Yes…if I do I’m getting Drambo

Which has been your top 3
Patterning 3, Oneshot! and Microwave take the cake for me this year
Honorable mentions to FAC Punchlab, Smash and Fizzica
What do you find one shot capable of that patterning can’t handle
Patterning only has 8 sample slots, Oneshot has...24 I think? That can be spread anywhere on the roll you want. Oneshot's kits are more fleshed out and balanced sounding imo, since in Patterning you're just making your own or downloading community made kits from the cloud store. (they are damn good though)
I look at Patterning as the ultimate drum machine/sequencer, and Oneshot as my go-to finger drumming tool.
I'm not keen on Oneshot's IAPs though. Too rich for my blood. The stock kits are aplenty and sound great, so if they knock them down enough I'd grab them.
Fair enough. Unique enough differences to make each useful. I like the other idea to get a GeoShred drum setup. Not sure what MPE for drums involves… but it’s probably cool.
No, but I know I’ll get one anyway!
Patterning 3 is the ultimate drum sequencer and dominates my timeline.
This is a nice tone generator to get into cymatics and healing frequencies. Might give you tinnitus tho trying to hone in that magic #.
Great sales tomorrow!!
From all my family members. Hope at least one comes through with one.
Merry Christmas to you all. Developers, reviewers, producers, noodlers, and passive consumers. May the sales be plentiful and the world be a more musical place in the morning.
No worries. They are Live! Cheers
Ectoplastic Apps on Sale

Merry Christmas everyone!!!
Gift yourself Shimmer FX if you don't have it.
Cool synth, and it’s a tracker too (with the basic commands, volume, pan, glide)
Fun
Yeah Patterning is amazing. I wonder could he do something similar for melody and harmony stuff?
Same here. I have almost 700 games on Steam.
I'm in the same boat. While there were a couple of games sprinkled throughout, most has gone to production goodies this year
I'm slowly bridging the gap between auv3s and Steam Library
208 vs 1563
At least compared to games you can mix and match and enjoy them all together in different ways. There’s no urge to “complete” any of them, and you can always justify having niche ones for rare uses.
Bleass' Alpha and Omega synths reduced from US$14.99 to $9.99 but only until December 27th so you need to be quick.
Instead of focusing on which type of UI I'm pretty sure many users here would love it if you made your modeled percussion app more similar to apps like Impaktor by Beepstreet and AAS Objeq.
The very same approch as Chair Audio uses for their EXC!TE Cymbal and Snare Drum, real-time physical modelling, so one can play on any surface but it sounds like Tablas, Congas, Djembes, Snares, Tambourines, Hi-Hats, Kick Drums and so on.
AAS Objeq is too limited with not enough variation and Impaktor by Beepstreet was never an AUv3 (and sadly not even in the app store any more).
I know Drambo has a similar mode to Impaktor but I'd prefer an app only focusing on triggering realistic physical modeled percussion sounds from all over the world.
Geoshred has been a great success in India so I'm pretty sure a percussion app that features plenty of all the various types of Indian percussion there is (A LOT!), that the user could have on their phone and play anywhere and on anything to trigger the sounds, would also be a great success.
And the app would of course also feature modeled percussion from Africa, The Middle-East, South America, South-East Asia, Europe and so on.
Regarding the UI it should include an editor so the user is able to build new, never heard before, unique hybrid percussion sounds by mixing certain elements from all these modeled sounds from all over the world.
Dubler 2 by Vochlea has a drum mode where you teach the plugin which drum sounds that should be triggered based on the sounds you make with your voice.
Great for beatboxers.
Even better if your percussion app employed the same technology but not only for voice triggering but also when it comes to different surfaces that one hits on.
That way one could trigger plenty of different percussion sounds and not be stuck with just one type of percussion sound.
A real hit! (pun intended)
Holy crap…you have 1500 Steam games?
Aye. It's a 19 year old account tho too... And I won't go into detail about my old addiction to bundle sites (humblebundle, fanatical, etc) [for reference I've been into iOS production for just the last 1.75yr]
I was also VERY active on steamgameswap on Reddit until steam cracked down HEAVILY on region locking and trading. I believe it was around the time of Dying Light releasing. I vaguely remember that being the last heafty discount I was able to grab before restrictions went into place
That was a wild time
Hahaha very impressive. Currently at 674…with a Desktop PC, Legion Go and Steam Deck. This winter sale is not helping tame things haha.
"Geoshred has been a great success in India"
Omg, it suddenly all makes sense.
