    I distinctly remember lengthy discussions here about developers not charging enough for their apps and so many people insisting they'd be willing to pony up and pay more if they were charged more... interesting.

    I agree. I think that iOS apps are already extremely reasonable compared to desktop apps. I know it's the same talking points over and over again; but really - I don't see the gripe about this. The Devs need to make a certain base amount or they will just walk away from this platform.

    AUBE 2 was 50% off pre-order (before release). I think the price was reasonable. Just my opinion.

    I was thinking about that conversation while in the “What iOS production needs in 2025” thread. As a consumer, I love all of these cheap production apps but it can definitely feel like a “you get what you pay for” scenario at times.

    As for the Aube 2 app discussion, I got it on preorder for the $9.99 discount price and am so glad the app exists. I love the clean UI and keyboard for app lookup. It would be nice for Apple to make the App Store better to cover a lot of this functionality but I’m glad this exists to cover those gaps. Much better than relying on a bunch of custom App Raven

    People post? It is 99% Poppa (He invented this thread) and it’s been discussed previously and overwhelming supported by the community. I have got so many lifetime sub $0.00 unlocks and temporarily free apps from this thread for non music apps and I appreciate it greatly.

    If my comment sounding disparaging or ungrateful I apologize. I’ve definitely benefited from these lists over the years I was just confused at how non musical/ niche some of the apps listed seem to be

    Too bad it wasn't a v1 update, v1 users are left with no app updates and with no AUv3 database updates also - v1 app was removed from the AppStore.

    Yea I know it kind of sucks for those who purchased the first one. I was thinking he might do an upgrade bundle or something, but V2 was on an intro sale for a while. There is also a chance it will go on sale at sometime in the future. Plus, depending on when it was purchased, some V1 owners probably got there money worth over the last year or 2.

    My guess is this wasn’t the original plan, I’m totally speculating here but I think Fred realized that continually updating/paying for database updates wasn’t really working for a few reasons, so he decided to rework the app and include all database updates in version 2.

    Ultimately I think it was probably the right move. I beta tested the v1 app and really liked it, but I was hesitant to purchase the app because of the continual database updates. Since apps seem to come out pretty often, it was probably a lot of work for Fred and multiple paid updates for users who wanted to have all their new apps inside.

    I generally agree with what you wrote, thanks for the reply. Additionally, I found a post from FAC as below explaining the issue of updating the database in v1:
    "But it won’t be updated anymore except with the database updates covered by your current in-app purchases made in AUBE 1. Both AUBE 1 and AUBE 2 got a database update 2 days ago."

    I'm a person who has taken the position that app makers should charge sustainable prices, and I actually don't really buy the "just a database" take, because databases like this rely on freshness, and that takes constant work. That said, I guess I have to confess to being a bit salty that I don't get a discount via a bundle as an AUBE 1 purchaser, and that's kind of held me back here. The new feature list looks good, but it's not clear whether the desktop version will pick up AUs and VSTs or just AUv3's, and aside from desktop functionality...I dunno. I haven't used AUBE v1 on iPad all that much TBH. I can live without it. Something that differentiates this from a lot of music apps, is that it's not like my projects will break if I uninstall it. It's a convenience that fills a gap, but it's not absolutely essential in the way a go-to synth or effect plugin can be.
