    An e-reader and e-books have been great for me. I would never go back to normal books or a tablet for this. Comic books are the exception, I use a tablet for color and size. Also, with public library e-books, this is much cheaper and in the comfort of my home.

    Also got off of social media and news in general, this cut my screen time big time. Also it has great impact on my general mood. This might have been my best move in recent years, no joking.

    So now, I only use my phone for messaging/calling and research and my iPad for music and comics.

    Thanks. I know and have been using all sort of "night mode"

    And since I now tapped into e-ink, I will try black and white mode on iPad. Not sure if that's scientifically better to human eyes

    well black is no color - means pixel on display is just turned off - but pure white is basically mix of ALL colors - means including blue :-)) so this wont’t help much .. literally every pixel on your display consists from 3 luminiscent points - red, green and blue , and for strictly white color they all shine at maximum level :)

    E-ink worls differencly - it’s about how much display reflects light which is coming on it from enviroment.. so black are absorbs everything, white are reflects everything .

    This os very simplified description, in reality it is a bit more complicated, but this is enough to understand principle.

    I am getting a pair this weekend and see if that helps. After all, only my eyes can tell the difference. Thanks for reminding me this.

    To my suprise, I'm sold by my friend's idea to get an e-ink Android tablet and play with whatever available on Android including the very joyful Koala Sampler and Sunvox. And the model that can install Android apps is fairly afforable!

    edit: Not sure if the Android screen is as sensitive as iPad for touch playing but Koala support QWERTY keyboard

    That sounds like it would be really frustrating in practice. I love e-ink displays for reading but for touch playing, editing samples, mixer pages etc, I suspect input lag would be an issue. Sure you could use a QWERTY keyboard but you could do that with your iPad and just not look at it while you’re playing.

    I managed to try a budget one and indeed the display latency is a thing. Knobs becoming unusable and sliders still okay. Overall Koala experience is not ideal haha

    Things change as one of my frd with multiple Sonicware just told me their sequencers are quite different. I took a look and found the Mega Synthesis has a 128 patterns of 128 steps sequencer with 6 tracks 6(track 1-3)+4(track 4-5)+3(track 6 Sampler) max 13 Polyphony. This change the equation and make it a very budget and capable device that checked all my boxes

    But then you have to ditch your peril sensitive sunglasses. Not a good tradeoff.
