The number of presets that come with this app is insane. I wish it had a more organized sorting/browsing system, though.

Some workaround: save a “favourite preset” as a copy, under the user group. Via this route, my favorite presets are present at one place.

And managed to import all of the presets I still had sleeping on an old hard drive from my HW Blofeld (sold years ago), including custom wavetables and samples. So far, it works — a few glitches occurred, but most could be adjusted.
What sucks is that you can't delete any group with patches/presets inside (as of the current version). So if you accidentally import into the wrong group, or import patches twice, the only way is to delete any of those individually. No select option, no select all (at least not that I found).
Does anybody knows why the presets are duplicated under the 2008 and 2012 groups? i can't notice any difference between them and i would rather have one single version of each preset.
Also, does anybody knows what the last 1 or 2 letters in each preset name means? I see duplicated patches with different letters at the end.
The Blofeld could be considered as a classic synth, almost like a Juno or any other Hardware synth from the last 40 years.
This App is an exact copy of the hardware device. And, maybe, more for synth-enthusiasts like me.
Most of the IOS synths are not modeled after a specific synth. Many are inspired by classic synths, others are unique in its own.
The Blofeld can be thought of a digital modular wavetable VA synthesizer with lots of modulation and routing options. It has a unique sound and character, which is why it’s quite popular but still underrated.
It can sound like almost any other IOS synth, but it can sound much more.

Glorious synth. I’m curious how the beta testing went as it’s pretty buggy. Regularly crashing in AUM on M4 iPad Pro. The dials snap in a really weird way as well and not very touch friendly. Add my voice to wanting the randomizer as well.
Is anyone on the beta team in touch with the developer?
It's definitely a LOT less buggy than the actual hardware synth which is honestly pretty easy to 'crash/freeze'
But yes, there's a few things that could be added (pan & scroll for starters when it doesn't fit the plug-in window) and maybe increase the font-sizes a bit but overall it works and is way more reliable than the hardware it's based on...

I gave feedback about the fonts and adviced some other improvements that could be implemented. In my beta-test period I did not have any crash at all. What I think is that Waldorf rushed the release of Blofeld. My beta-test period was only 2 weeks, and that's IMO too short.
I agree, two weeks to fully test a somewhat 'complex' app is way, way too short...
...In comparison the MicroWave app was a bit more polished with the little red-dot that could be used to pan/scroll the UI.
Just like the MicroWave app support midi-out is also missing in Blofeld making the on-screen keyboard in the AUv3 practically un-usable.
It is a nice sounding synth and the app is way more stable than the Blofeld in the local music-store that has a tendency to crash or freeze when I try to play it
fantastic to have this on iPad. I own the hardware but needing to pull it from the shelf and plug it into a sequencer etc means I don't use it as much as I'd like to. Now I can noodle with it in comfort and build sounds to use on the hardware later
Maybe they wanted to get it out before superbooth to show it off there.

Apparently the name historically originates in Norfolk, England.
There’s a village called Blo_field_ the next village over from where I lived when I was a teenager.
So I tested the Blofeld plugin on my iPad Air 3 using Nanostudio 2. I tested the ClockBellz and PPG Bells presets. For ClockBellz, I set each instance to 8 (and 6 voices) and disabled fx. With 6-voice instances, it can handle up to 7 plugin instances. For 8-voice, it's more like 6. Using wavetables can consume some CPU, too. Even if I don't use it in Nanostudio or Groover Rider 2, I can still use my iPad as a multitimbral Blofeld module for Renoise and Bitwig.
Great to have this on iOS.
There is also an ‘Iridium plugin’ beta program on Waldorf website. Who knows, maybe one day…

I"m always wary when something is advertised as "classic".... often a case of the well-used marketing trick of referring to anything old as being "classic".
Even stuff that was pretty lousy back then (and, as a result, not very popular) gets resurrected today and touted as "classic".
Case in point: a lot of the 2nd rate, "classic" tracks you find on "Northern Soul" compilation albums.
