i really like the sounds it can make, but using it is not the greatest experience
Yeah, it would be great if you could fold in the keys and have a bigger control interface
Speaking on the Disco DSP stuff…did they ever get sorted out? Especially Discovery (I have the previous OB release and don’t see a need for the newer one)
I see the same on my iPad 6 (2018) with A10 processor. I guess you have the iPad Pro 10.5 (2017) with A10X, likely similar performance. No glitches on my new iPad Air M2. So processor power does make a difference.
How can I add sounds to multi mode ?
I turn multi mode on I choose the 2nd channel I turn it on I change the sound and returns to single mode
Thanks
I Found it
When you go to presets menu you choose what patch you want and by LONG HOLDING the patch a menu pops up giving you the choice to add to the Channel you want !!
I don't like how it is done, but here is a guide:
You have the same iPad I do, so looks like I was wise to hold off! Looks like I’m gonna allocate those funds then towards Tomofon and Discovery ( assuming the latter is in better shape vs its launch )
Jexus as free presets for the Blofeld. I have imported them and they work. But it's a mess on my user folder. Not sure what I did wrong.

iPad Pro 2017 here also ... given the bugginess of this, and the possibility of poor performance, I think I'll hold off for now.
That preset plays fine on my 5th Gen pro haha. Maybe they just didn't test on enough devices, weird. I tested this with the update
I dunno, haven't used it since I did the walkthrough
Thank you @Phillix
My justification exactly!
I learned quite a bit about this synth and how to handle various settings by just following this thread. 👍🏻
There are a few wishes many users agree on (like full price Nave AuV3 and option to remove/hide screen keys on the Blo(!)).
I'm not a leader or organiser, but, we should do that some time i.e: use the power of many and send them that.
It's so many option to take a sound it's a bit overwhelming but I hope I can get to a point where most is clear.
Anyway: it sounds really awesome and going to be included in a lot of my; sound-designs/songs.

I told my wife I’m gonna probably buy Blofeld tonight - but she just gave me a blank stare and said ok...
Yeah that sounds somewhere south of a ringing endorsement 😂 I do have fond memories of using the hardware so I do have a bit of bias lol
I mean it sounds great. I just have too many apps, and I waste/spend a lot of time learning new stuff due to the nature of my channel, so most things don't get revisited much. But why would I prioritize one by a company like discoDSP that does things in a sloppy way. And their releases have been sloppy in so many regards, in my view, for years. I don't respect their attitude.
No glitches on A17Pro CPU
If she's not a synth lover or musician or both, I wouldn't have expected a different reaction - I'm sure she'll be happy if you are 😉
I can understand that…Hell I’m still trying to see the point of OB XD 3 lol
Since the update yesterday i have the same here. I will try a fresh install of the synth….Also the crashes in AUM are not fixed with the update. I am very happy to have the blofeld on my ipad, but at the moment its not usable for me. Hopefully they will fix that issues soon!
Good. Don't struggle to decide why you shouldn't buy an app. The only question should be why you should buy it. Every purchase just takes up more bandwidth, time, energy, energy that in many cases could be wiser spent. How many tools / toys does anyone need? Very few, frankly, in most cases. Be picky!
Thankfully , I followed my instinct with Blofeld. It’s a shame but I admit software based on actual hardware synths immediately appeal to me and might be my weakness.
That’s the marketing getting in your head. Soft synths should really be bought on their own merits rather than their provenance. None of this is to say you shouldn’t buy Blofeld, not at all. It does sound really good, it has some good features. It’s just a bit subpar in the UI design, and is currently buggy for many people here.
It's just my speculation, but my wild guess is current dev responsible for their code is far away from being as good as was original author of Discovery and they are basically just reusing his legacy with minor tweaks here and there ... Dude died in 2007 during bike accident - he was absolute master, giga chad legend of coding, and since then, entire company feels to me that they are just reusing, repackaging his code with just minor tweaks here and there .. Like, it's just my speculation based on nothing but .. since he died (RIP), i don't see anything groundbreaking new from DiscoDSP and their iOS releases are just plain sloppy. Like Discovery still doesn't support AUv3 parameters automation, what a bad joke !
RIP to Argugu ! I don't think he is happy in heaven when he see what they are doing with his legacy. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Juan_Antonio_Arguelles_Rius
On the positive side Waldorf is pretty responsive when sending/creating a support requests...
...this was for a few issues with Microwave for iPad when using multiple instances where the menus stop working which I sent yesterday evening and the reply popped up this morning...
Knock on wood but Blofeld has been pretty stable for me, sure I miss slightly bigger UI elements and an option to pan/scroll the UI and hide the on-screen play-surface as it doesn't transmit midi...
I'll dig into importing and using user samples at some point
Thnx Dendy, I also know nothing about this, that sounds like feasible speculation though. AUv3 parameters still not supported more than half a year on, wow, that’s pretty bad indeed.
Regarding Blofelds higher demand on CPU - there are some deep details in this synth, not obvious for first look, which inevitably leads to higher CPU demand..
Almost's all it's internal processing of modulation signals runs in audio rate (needed for having key tracked audio rate LFOs, which frequency can be modulated by envelopes). Not much iOS synths are using this, and those which do, are far away from Blofeld's modulation complexity (to my knowledge for example Dagger or Zeeon, don't know about any other - both significantly simpler synths than Blof in terms of modulation complexity).
Even in HW synths segment - not every DSP synths is this advanced. Many of them are saving CPU by using lower modulation rate (which inevitably leads to inability of too fast LFOs, which then dramatically lowers sonic range of that given synth)
So this is something which inevitably leads to much higher CPU needs than synths with much lower internal modulation control rate (you can see it typically that synths LFO goes not higher than 20-60 hz)
In general - always when you see polyphonic synth with audio rate LFOs, especially when their frequency is possible to modulate with envelope - expect higher CPU load. It's simply trade of for this sound designers dream detail .
Thanks to this, Blofeld can be basically used like 6 operator FM synth, where first 3 oscillators can even use wavetables (you can't do this even in Drambo, FM oscillator can't use wavetables and wavetable oscillator can't be frequency modulated at audio rate with good quality result).
And thanks to comb filters this can be even used as a kind of physical modeling synth. So i't basically not just classic VA synth, it's also FM synth and Physical modelling synth ;-)
So there is really a lot under the hood in this beast, and higher CPU demand is simpy price needed to be paid for this level of complexity / sound quality.
Nice one Dendy!
My experience about use Blofeld in Garageband (iPad Pro M1 11", iPadOS 17.6.1).
I am very happy that Waldorf has released next app for iPad, but as
Microwave1 works great as standalone and in Garageband, then
Blofeld works great as standalone, but it is disaster in Garageband
Microwave - point 1 and 2

Blofeld - point 1 and 2
Blofeld AUv3 error message
I updated 1.0.2 to 1.0.3 version, but nothing changed.

I hope that the next versions will fix all these inconveniences to work as great as Microwave 1.
In iPadOS 17.6.1 I probably do not have the latest Garageband version. I'm waiting for iPadOS 18.5 to update (I have read about problems with 18.4.1).
Does Blofled work OK for you on iPadOS 18.x in Garageband?
As Samu said, Waldorf are very responsive to feedback. Send them a email.
