OK, I'll write to them right away. Thanks for advice.
Sounds great on my m1 iPad Pro…

If not a little quiet?
I emailed Waldorf with a query about adding samples to a Blofeld desktop synth with SampleLicence enabled (SL)
It is possible to do this without Spectre app on a Mac , with iOS app!
This is very useful…. It’s a one way only though … can’t send sample from hardware to software, just vice versa.
Hope the bugginess improves for folks… some luscious sounds to be made!
Adjust the main volume knob at the top of the UI, It's independent from the preset level just like a real hardware synth
Thanks @samu
First hours with a new synth app… so much to take in!
I just plugged fugue machine into it… haven’t checked everything… sounds sweet.
Nice explanation.
Have attempted to download this preset bank several times, but it never appears in my downloads folder….any clues?
Maybe it throws up a login or something. You might try another browser; that sometimes works.
Edit: Worked for me first try, in iCab Mobile.
How to write them? Website support request?
Support on their web-site...

I had started a project in AUM with Blofeld, after the update the other day it won't load any instances of the synth in that project. In fact, AUM totally freezes which has never happened to me before...annoying...
Thankfully my iOS life doesn't revolve around AUM. I've had ZERO issues with Blofeld in Cubasis and LogicPro for iPad...
...since Blofeld is quite heavy on the CPU it could potentially choke AUM...
Will try that. Cheers!
Not sure about that, I've had four instances running with no problem on my 2023 iPad Pro...
If you're on an ipad - I usually use Vivaldi - once you hit the download button you actually get a little alert at the bottom of the screen, asking if you really want to, and showing another download link. It's easy to miss.
It’s during the initialization stage (ie. recalling a session) it can use a lot of CPU.
For some of the heavier presets it can chop around 60% CPU when playing an 8 note chord.
If AUM freezes / crashes there should be some error log for it…(either for AUM or Blofeld).
If you can systematically reproduce the freeze I feel both developers would be happy to get the info
Maybe I’ve just been ‘lucky’ by not having bumped into any issues with it…
Excuse me, you are probably right…
Here is the link to the Waldorf beta program page :
https://waldorfmusic.com/de/beta-programm/
I was misled by the first program “microwave plugin”, clearly mentioning ‘plugin’. But then, the second program is only “Iridium and Quantum”, so probably referring to the hardware firmwares.
Sincere apologies!
I can play up to five instances with effects and long tails in Roland Zenbeats on my iPad Air 5 M1, adding a sixth yields crackling. Turning off effects makes the crackling go away even with six instances but the tails makes my Air struggle.
So I would definetly say it is a heavy synth on the CPU, think Model D, Zeeon or Synthmaster 2. But given the sound quality and the complexity, is to be expected. Been playing around with it since release and despite the UI and preset handling leaving room for wishes, this is top notch stuff IMHO.
Highly recommended, but then again, I have a soft spot for ports of hardware.

👍🏼
Did the PPG filter not self-oscillate in the original hardware version?
I don’t remember about the PPG, but the normal filters self-oscillate without input on the hardware but not the software, one of the things they didn’t recreate accurately.
hm, are you sure ? I don’t remember Blof HW filters self-oscillating
dang, this thing sounds very nice indeed
i guess i just have to get used to the ui
Does anyone else get crackles and weird artifacts, or non-responsive parameters when holding a note on screen?
Also all of the sound cuts off when changing osc type? Weird and takes out of the flow..
Otherwise massive release, congrats Waldorf!
It makes great sounds, no doubt, but i really wish it had a optional dark theme at least; it really rather strains my eyes.
Plus, i wish it had the same sort of visual feedback of modulation happening that can be seen in Microwave such as animated movement through wavetables and filter responding to envelopes etc. It always helps me to see what I’m doing in this way. Presumably it’s missing to help keep CPU usage down?
Overall, it feels like step backwards in UI design from Microwave. Hopefully they might look at improving it?
Quite sure. Other things like FM feedback, osc brilliance, noise and effects also sound different between the hardware and software.
I haven’t looked into this myself yet but I’m just wondering whether anyone knows whether it’s possible to export user created wavetables from Microwave or Nave (that does allow user created wavetables in some form doesn’t it?) and use them in Blofeld?
That's strange, because EvilDragon beta tested it, and he said that the software is a 1:1 copy of the original. Maybe ask Waldorf about it.
I'm not sure, but it can definitely import Serum wavetables that are 2048 samples. I imported some I made or resynthesized in Icarus, and they work flawlessly!
Thanks @frosttrance_7.
I had Blofeld in past (actually inhad it probably 3 times) and inknow iťs engine and sound probably better than my native language (it’s my top 5 synth of all times) .. Don’t have it now to compare but the sound of plugins sounds to me exactly like HW thing.. i hear there exactly what i used to loved on HW ..
edit: it self oscillates - you just need to have turned on at least one oscillator - you can turn the oscillator volume to zero in mixer so basically it doesn't go to filter, but filter keeps self oscillating ..
my raw guess is it was working same way on HW
