@elasticdrums The 6-op FM oscillators can also be triggered, which is in the help overlay. I guess it's just copied from the Plaits manual. Would be cool to have a trig input but not essential.
Without the arpeggiation OSC24 is 'chord drone', with the arpeggiator it could get chaotic but if one of the arpeggiators runs super slow it could control the 'chord progression' while the oscillator built-in arp does the chord arpeggiation?

(An example of 'Chip-Tune Arps' using Drambo. The 'note on' event resets phase of arp-sequence and the LFO that is used to control the step-advance of the arp-sequencer).
In the case of Elastic OSC a ramp or square LFO could be used to sent to the 'Trig' input (to clock the internal arpeggiator) while the gate from the note-on events could be used to optionally reset the phase of the LFO and control the ADSR in Elastic OSC.
Just thinking of how to keep it as simple as possible
Cheers!

Time to check automation in LogicPro for iPad
...
Hopefully adding the touch and release for AUParemeter events won't cause too much hassle as it would allow automation to work properly in LogicPro for iPad, GRII and a few other hosts that expect them.
https://developer.apple.com/documentation/audiotoolbox/auparameterautomationeventtype?language=objc
Don't fully understand that. What's the issue for you? I can use the internal Modulation / Automation of Elastic OSC and I can add parameter modulation from Logic to the Elastic OSC . If you are using both modulations they struggle with each other, but that's how it is.
But I think you are talking of something different?
What exactly ?
Ah, I notice something. While the apps knobs get recorded in Logic, that does not work out with the XY Pad.
It that what you mean?
I'll have to stand corrected at least a bit, it's the automation of the X & Y pads that can't be recorded, sorry...
...all other UI elements seem to record automation properly
Any chance to see midi program change implementation?
Is there a glide function on the kybd?
So, I decided to make a preset from _init for each of the 24 states. To learn what it entails if nothing else. Some of them is quite hard to get something useful out of and that speech (9) drove me nuts because I had it counting from 0-10 but then did the mistake of forgetting the record button and had to start over, now it's only talk about colours wtf 🤣. Anyway, it's an educational way of playing.
Are the A|B| function working as it should though, I've never used that much (anywhere) but thought they should be completely separate, they're not: you change a few things in B jump back to A and those changes has applied there as well.
edit. error corr.
The A/B are different ‘outputs’ not different ‘states’ that one can swap between.
I’m having way more success using Spectrum, BrainZ in TeraPro or miRack when it comes to the plaits oscillators
Alright, thanks.
@Pxlhg if you check the Help overlay it will tell you what the AUX output is for an oscillator. That's what B is. A+B is combined and A/B is split left/right. Check them out with the Help overlay.
Yeah I've used that, thank you, I just made an interpretation of my own 😉
Elastic OSC now crashes every time I open it. Anyone else seeing this?
Random crashes yes…
And this behavior just developed for me today, apropos of nothing. And all of my custom patches are useless. They just generate noise and can’t be played. Something has changed and I don’t know why.
I just tried offloading and re-downloading the app and that didn't fix the problem.
Any ideas, @elasticdrums ?
Had a few crashes yesterday (but oddly enough no crash-logs!?).
So far today it’s been behaving…
Don’t know if iCloud has something do with it? (There a setting in the system settings for Elastic OSC to choose where to save things).
That doesn't explain why my custom patches are corrupted now. iCloud was out for me a short time ago, but it's back up now and the problems have not subsided. App still crashing.
Mine is working as expected, maybe it's time to share the crash-logs with the developer if there are any?
Can you describe a bit more and precisely ?
None yet.
no chrashes here so far
Awesome, that would be a great addition.
Works perfectly here…
This might be my new favorite synth to make patches in. At the very least it’s tied with my beloved Iceworks synths. Hell of a lot of fun to make stuff…
Standalone version, 1.0.1
And I just opened the standalone version and randomly picked a RedSkyLullaby patch just in case there was something about the basic patches or my patches which were corrupting the app, and I got about 2 seconds of sound, then silence from the app, no matter which other patches I picked.
In case you need this also, I'm running iPadOS 16.7.11
Leaving the app I was able to get sound out of other apps, so I know it's not a general OS problem with my iPad.
That's weird as nobody else seems to have that issue.
You also deleted the app and reinstalled from scratch? Maybe also do a restart of the device ...
Talking of device, which one do you have?
By the way, @elasticdrums I sent you a video link to the email address on your web site so you can see and hear the problem for yourself.
Oh, that could be super helpful. Unfortunately I don't see an email with a video in my account? Maybe it's too big?
No, I offloaded the app (which kept my own patches from being deleted) and then re-downloaded Elastic OSC. I've restarted the iPad Pro multiple times with no luck.
And I have an iPad Pro 12.9-inch screen, running iPadOS 16.7.11. ... I think it's a 2016 or 2017 model?
I sent you a WeTransfer link so you can download it. The video is really not too large (8.6 MB).
