Thanks so much dude
It really isn’t capture in the still photo
You gotta see this baby move to watch it turn from red to purple and back, it’s so beautiful
I was worried about no tone knob. No problem .I was worried about the five way switch. No problem I was worried about the pick ups .no problem. I was worried about the fan . no problem. And most of all I was worried if I was making a mistake in trading a $6000 custom shop ESP for a $4500 custom Aristides, but with used guitars value really is in the eye of the beholder. I really wanted that 8 string for so long and knowing that the ESP was not for me, in terms of the neck profile, the neck radius, the pick ups, the pick up configuration, the wiring, and the general overall feel and aesthetic grew quite boring.
I could’ve possibly held out for a different one but aside from not having Lugrin black heaven pick ups, this is almost exactly what I was looking for when I set my heart on an Aristidis eight string over a decade ago. This was my back up brand in case I never got the custom guitar that is ironically on the way, however since no one was exchanged, and all that happened was guitar exchange hands. I didn’t pay shipping or insurance, I felt like this was a good way to end my endless pursuits of the perfect feeling guitar brand and model for me.
All I can say is, I am very blessed, I am very lucky, God, nature, the universe, has looked out for me, and my family, and for that I will always be eternally grateful to the great spirit who lives within each of us and is everywhere and nowhere
Finally bareknuckle pick ups are all they cracked up to be. I honestly think they might actually be better in terms of versatility for other genres as well as being very very apt for heavy heavy down tune metal. They are like Lundgren’s younger fresher brother. I actually I’m looking at it and like happy accident type of way that I ended up with bareknuckle pick ups because I’ve already had the m6 and I don’t want the same pick ups in every guitar. This is very close in terms of what it does, but very different and how it does it. I don’t think I’ve ever been this impressed with the guitar in my life. I’m stunned. 🙏
yellow_eyes and @Ailerom Have you tried the new pedal, Heavier Metal, from Artera yet? It's pretty rad.
I haven't. I doubt I will. Mercuriall Ampbox just got a free update with a HM-2 pedal added. It's very nice.
Did you try it? Thoughts?
Yeah I got it, a lot of reason for that lays in the fact it's the box that dubbed "the swedish sound" with all knobs on max 😂
Now, I tagged you gents because you might own it in real life, while I never owned a pedal in my 63 years of existence.
Never heard of Mercuriall, looks interesting.
I haven’t tried it , no man. The last thing I tried was Laney Ironheart from @AuroraDSP …but @ArteraDSP makes great stuff so I’m sure it’s incredible.
Right now I’m totally stuck on my tube amp,
V30 cab, precision drive and Zuul gate…that’s almost all I been doing for a few weeks now.
That's a good way to spend your time. I can't see me getting too interested in these 1 pedal plugins. If they were part of a single app I'd go for that but this will get too messy for my tastes. And to be honest I find any plugin (app) with distortion involved is worth trying in front of an amp. The often sound a lot better than expected and are way more tweakable. e.g. WaveFolder, BYOD, Valves, Pulse Ripper, Grind, Smash, Saturn and so on.
I was recently fiddling with Grind into an amp and wow, what a wild (sometimes untamable haha) app it is! Somehow BYOD slipped past me and Pulse Ripper looks pretty rad for guitar stuff. Thanks for the reccs!
Yeah this one goes in front, it's not usable otherwise. I'll see if I can make some comparison on video. Not trying to sell it as I'm totally on board with what you say about 1 pedal app. It's discounted right now but full price is $10 and that's just not feasible. They should have built and sold a pedal-board instead but, it is what it is. 🤷
That sounds like a total blast. Only one time in my life have got the option to play on volume with a full 100w Marshal stack, it's maybe +35 years ago but I can still remember the adrenalin kick. Unfortunately it was just, maybe 30 minutes, and then it was over. 🥲
Yeah guys @Ailerom @Pxlhg it really is something I was missing as a guitarist , and I can’t believe it
I always thought of myself as a musician who is a guitarist and pianist, and now I see myself more of just an artist who happens to play guitar and piano and some to other things, but as far as being anything more than that, idk and idc - I see no matter how much you know about something, you really don’t know much about anything at all, and someone always knows a hell of a lot more. So just enjoy what resonates and try to improve and develop however you feel that extension of artistry to be and where the art takes you, as you end up being a manifestation of that artifice…like pxlhg, I see you as a multimedia artist and you use a lot of different approaches.
I know see an eclectic vision of my own journey and while my actual main art more than anything is martial arts (wing chun kung fu), I love the level where I’m at, which is I have a few amazing tools at my disposal that can achieve whatever i am inspired by or the muse envisions and I just hope to be able to express it - I finally got to a level of just wanting to play and write and almost forgets gear and apps and plugins and daw, and just use whatever I have . Tools I have are way more than enough and it’s time
What is your current progress and what projects are you guys working on ?
I wouldn't even know how to answer that, I'm all over the place. 😂
Me too @Pxlhg
But I got 4 workflows now
I don’t see them as competitive anymore, now it’s just like what am I feeling, what do I want to use, and what am I trying to make so what would be most applicable … efficiency is the name of the game now, minimalism. Doing the least to get just enough of what I want.
But my op-1 is my fave to work on and work in and work with, and eventually I wanna just use the op1 iPad and axe 3
A few weeks ago I got a Boss Katana Mini - so light and portable that I can quickly play anywhere, and it sounds really good for such a small amp. So easy to play anywhere there’s an outlet within a few feet, and could play outdoors anywhere if I put batteries in it.
@Ailerom holy hell, BYOD is a goldmine and now I’m pissed I’ve wasted my time and money on other apps haha. Thanks again!
The boss katana mini is awesome
I saw a few demos and thought the crunch channel sounded really good. Definitely lived up to my expectations.
I got me this little Laney, don't know much about it and there's no battery option. I live in an apartment building from right after WW2 (47) when materials where scarce so it's not very well sound proofed. Ergo, no playing without headphones. Boring but true.

This was just a jam test of some cleans for yall

TBD
Wow respect! Your string amount would cause a fatal error in my brain 😄
I couldn’t even cope with a 7 string and ended up putting a baritone conversion neck on one of my 6 stringers. Very happy with that now.
Glad you like it. Amazing app for distortion tweakers. Place in front of an amp it is amazing the variation you can get. Certainly a fantastic tool for fitting a guitar into a mix. I love it. Not sure what the IAP are like but if you buy any feel free to post your thoughts. https://chowdsp.com/products/byod-add-ons/store.html
Also, there is a free version for Windows, Mac, and Linux.
Hear me out. How would you compare it to a Roland Cube 10? I know they are different, but I only use a couple of settings on the Cube. Wondering if something simpler might meet my needs.
That's an an electric amp? Will do the job, and could be exactly what you are after. Generally speaking though, guitar amps are not voiced to handle acoustic very well. How is it for you?
Have you tried any headphone amps?
JOYO JA-03 Acoustic Guitar Effect Mini Pocket Headphone Amp
I have one for every guitarist in my house. Money well invested.
I recently got a Sonicake Pocket Master for headphone jamming. It’s toted as a “multi fx processor”, which it IS, but it’s also got NAM and IR stuff built in, so you get that amp sound going into the headphones. And you can load in your own files, which has become a rather deep rabbit hole. And it’s got a looper, great for practicing. For around $60, thing is a steal
The latest firmware has an acoustic simulator that isn't too bad either. Before I found that, I was using a NAM profile from the Boss Acoustic Simulator stomp box.
Lots more discussion on the Pocket Master if you're interested:
I like the Pocket Master as a practice motivator. No hookups needed other than the guitar cable and earbuds. Less tempting to obsessive tone hunting once you get a few good presets dialed in. You can send audio to it from the iPad over bluetooth for practicing against backing tracks.
I never use it as an interface to the iPad. By the time you go to that trouble you might as well use the better sounding plugins available there and where you can record dry and re-amp later.
//img//
It does have a headphone jack but the acoustic would still be too loud for my comfort so I use it very little (the guitar, amp not at all). The guitar has a very cool Fishman Humbucker, the only humbucker for acoustic I ever seen. It does make the guitar sound more like an electric so it's not for everybody.
I prefer to play my Ltd through my digital devices, day and night, bothering no one.
@wim
Thanks for all the PM info! Had no idea bout the acoustic stuff. I have an upright bass that might take kindly to those features, will give it a whirl soon (and I’ll check out those respective threads too).
When it comes to interface, for some reason my unit doesn’t connect with my iOS devices (chalked it up to them being older and just don’t play well together)
@Pxlhg
Ayyyyyy I have one too! Ltd bros!
That's odd. It should work with any device, no matter how old.
One thing I hadn't realized, or was added with the last Pocket Master firmware update, is it can be controlled by MIDI, even over bluetooth. I don't think I'll use it for anything, but it does work.
I had a Fishman Blackjack. It was pretty good. I should have kept it but ended up selling because my Acoustics have built in pickup systems.
LTD SCT-607B here. What have you got?
