ohp nevermind i found it 👍🏻
In the clip editor (piano roll) it's the little skull icon next to the hamburger menu.
[edit] took a minute to find, for sure. I don't understand why he grays out icons that are active. Grayed out icons usually means they're inactive. My eye always skips over them when hunting for things.
Create a new clip, go to the clip editor and then select the icon in the toolbar.
thanks
Nice.. Hopefully, we get Vari ((Mutate) and Shuffle added to 'Generator'... For existing midi clips...Thanks..
Can't figure out the Step Automation thing... Yet...
Thanks..
The step features is not properly implemented as it should. When you press a step and change a parameter it should only affect that step and it’s now affecting all until you release the step.
I read most of this thread yesterday and decided to buy the app and not hang around waiting for a sale.
I am so glad I bought it. I can tell already that it is productive and fun new friend.
There are heaps of very good hosting apps available on iOS, and this is in my top 4 after half a day.
My cureent personal order of favourites is:
AUM
Camelot Pro
ApeMatrix
GrooveRider 2 (think this will be in #2 position by the end of the week)
LoopyPro
Drambo
- are both amazing - I just haven’t fully ‘clicked’ with them yet because of the amount of menu-diving and pre-planning of type of session required beforehand.
Sessions - I think this will be brilliant when it supports MIDI Auv3s
Korg Gadjet is cool, but keeps me too locked to Korg IAPs, and a blue screen.
SAND is probably better for me for that clip based workflow with instruments of my choice.
BAM has good MIDI plugin action - putting 4pockets Kaleidoscope into play there is fun.
Quantiloop
GigPerformer
- These two both have some pretty nice features that will keep me exploring them too.
So thanks for talking me into GrooveRider 2. 😉😀🙏🏼
Keep jammin’.
Is there a way to modify the octaves that are used for acid riff generator? I’d like to limit it to like octaves 3-5 for instance
Nice update, it’s getting better and better. By the way, how do you like the built-in sampler? I’m the only one who struggles because it skips to default setting when change samples?
I wish. Load GR@ as IIA into Loopy or Audiobus . In GR2 Under Sync - IAA Host Sync = Allow
I remember asking about this when it released, send a mail to jim maybe he changes the behaviour
What an amazing update! 👏🔥
Then transpose if needed. Not ideal, for parts other than Real Acid, I’ll admit.
thanks!
SoundFonts that load without problem into all the iOS SoundFont players aren’t loading into the GR2 SF host. Any special tricks needed?
I don’t have it, but it’s mentioned above that it’s in the Clip Editor
Piano Roll with the skull icon
Thanks. Transpose is the way I suppose for now!
is it possible to send the automations to Ableton Live ?
Hi,
I most recently checked out the YouTube video by Marcus K integrating groove rider v1 with Loopy Pro. The thing that I liked, the most was that he felt that it was drawing close to playing with something that is almost like a couple other musicians live. I’m wondering how the new version of groove Rider, v2, compares with version in the video? Thank you. This is my first comment on this forum btw. Peace
Welcome to the forum!
I haven't seen the video you're referring to, but I'm guessing he was using GR-16 as an AUv3 plugin inside Loopy Pro? If you post a link to the video I can say for sure.
The big difference is GR-2 is only a standalone application. You can get one stereo output from it into Loopy Pro, but that is running it as an IAA app, so there's no state saving, etc.
Sorry if I'm using terms that aren't familiar. If what I've said is confusing, I can explain in more detail.
Does anyone else find this app particularly buggy? Last night I couldn’t get MIDI learn to properly assign functions to the pots on my Launchkey MK3 - every time I assigned a parameter it just kept applying it to two of the eight assigned knobs. Just now I got stuck trying to toggle a part from solo to normal and it just kept flipping between solo and mute instead. I get a lot of crashes running plugins with MIDI. It crashed when I tried to select soundfonts to import, and it has never properly imported folders for soundfonts.
I want to love this app but I’m fighting against it every time I open it to use it. It doesn’t take long for MIDI assignments to get mixed up or crashes to happen before I close it out and wish it actually worked.
Running on an M2 iPad Pro 12.9”. I know these are hard to replicate with such vague info, but it’s a death by a million cuts scenario. So many little things are buggy and I’d rather make music with something stable than bug test an app. If anyone has recommendations for general setups for stability I’m open. I need to stop thinking I can get something out of this app though - this stuff has been a frustration since the apps release. Every couple updates I hope I can sit down and make something fun but it’s never happened.
Watching this thread.
I’ve found that GR2 truncates recorded midi from drum controllers seemingly because it doesn’t handle midi data containing velocity=0 rather than note off. I emailed Jim 2-3 times at multiple email addresses and haven’t heard back.
Me too.
Interesting. I've never had a single crash or problem. Not one.
I don't work with midi mapping and a controller though.
Do you often use plugins?
I’ll say that the MIDI mapping was a bit of a goof on my part. I did end up getting it figured out - I was missing the save option when doing MIDI learn.
I do want to ask anyone who knows before I dive through the manual, can you change which MIDI channels are exposed for the control knobs on a plugin layer? For example I’d like one of those layer knobs to control lid position and another sustain in B Pianoteq but neither of those are assigned by default.
My issue persists and is based on extensive troubleshooting.

Yep. But thinking about it some more, I should add that my heavy use of GR2 was more than a few months ago. If instability has creeped in since then and I probably wouldn’t know of it.
I don’t think I understand the question. I don’t understand what midi channel has to do with which controls are exposed.
You can change which parameters are tied to the control knobs without involving channel selection.
Wrong phrasing on my part, I meant the parameters not channels. How do you change which parameters are exposed if you don’t mind?
