Infinite Sample Sustainer Function Possible and Sound on Sound Frippertronics?
Hi all! So the second part the Sound on Sound/Frippertronics I think I have achieved but haven’t had a ton of time to test but keeping a loop in overdub and lowering the overdub feedback I think does it. I have Audio Damage’s Enso which does a great job of this with extra bells and whistles, but also likes to crash a bunch. Is anyone else doing SOS with Loopy and have any tips or insight on settings, usage, or parameters that they setup to control?
The Sample Sustainer idea I am having a little more trouble figuring out and would be great to recreate most the functions of the TC Infinite pedal if possible. For those not familiar it’s similar to a freeze reverb but is using the dry sound source and creating an indefinite pad like sound cloud (I’m assuming it’s granular instead of reverb) of a note or chord that you capture by hitting the foot switch after the initial attack of the note. It has multiple modes such as each time you hit/hold the foot switch it captures a new note/chord, another with 2 layers then a new capture while discarding the first capture and so on, a 3 layer mode, and then infinite layers until you clear everything in the buffer.
It should be a sustain of the sound without any loop pops even on short captures. You can set the volume to decrease on initial captures as subsequent ones are added. There may be some portamento or attack/decay settings also that allow smooth transitions between changes.
Is anyone aware of any clever or glaringly obvious ways to do this with Loopy?
The idea would be to be able to play chords and melodies while triggering a capture of pad like sustained harmonies to fill out the song. Also the advantage of doing this in Loopy is it can be later in my fx chain and in stereo , whereas the pedal is mono. Thank you!

@Ghostname : you might find this project that I post on Discord worthwhile for Frippertronics. It uses a feedback loop with effects on it so that you can degrade the loop rather than have it simply fade: https://discord.com/channels/922977925182132245/1326311029667270719
For freezing, there are a couple of AU that people use for that that probably will work better than anything that Loopy can do natively.
Someone uses Cascade for this. See:

Here is something I did with Blackhole:

I like Ridgewalk for that. There are many, many ways to use Ridgewalk, but with the right settings, it can do the granular reverb freeze you describe quite well.
There’s also the Audible Instruments Texture Synthesizer in miRack. It’s a clone of Mutable Instruments Clouds, which is easy to find YouTube videos about.
Does the “EOS 2” with its INFINITE button fit your requirements? It makes the reverb tail infinite so you get a cloud of sustained
reverbs.
I recall someone doing a youtube video of @brambos… found it:
You can download his AUM Session with Dropbox.

BUT DropBaox won’t preview this file type so Doiwnload to “your computer” and Open with AUM.

I will second wim's recommendation. Ridgewalk is the buffer/looper effect you are looking for. Single buffer, or multi- layered buffer. Buffer sync range from 1 beat to 16 bars, or non-sync 1 to 60 seconds. Looper sync range from 64th to whole note, or non-sync from appr. 0 to 60 seconds. No feedback to infinite feedback. Many more controls and features. Works well within Loopy Pro.

I haven't tried the TC Electronic pedal. I suspect it's either a buffer effect or a granular resynthesis effect.
You could also try an ios granular effect. I don't recall which ones allow real time processing. Bleass? Tardigrain?
Cascade layers the reverberation, but not the dry signal. It retains the reverberation character. It's a great processor, but it doesn't fit your requirements. The same developer makes another effect, Velvet Machine, which doesn't have a feedback, or hold function. It does provides a buffer of up to 10 seconds though, so it may serve your purpose.

Thank you all so much for these recommendations! I have been working on a response to each of your posts and researching each app mentioned. My bandwidth is just so limited right now with my health. I know I can use the quote button but how do I respond inline and it differentiate the quotes from my responses?
Overall it sounds like I will likely be focusing on using auv3 for both uses. Luckily I have a few of the mentioned ones and can experiment with them. The ones I hadn’t heard of are quite intriguing and possibly closer to what I am looking for than what I have. Currently I only have freeze functions within reverbs as far as I’m aware. Honestly it’s good to know though then I know I won’t be trying to build it natively.
@espiegel123 I actually really like the idea of the feedback loop, but for some reason the Discord page only shows dialog bubbles with the text greyed out. It does say “Decaying Loops” at the top though.
@Ghostname : maybe try logging out and back in? Are you able to see the other posts in the Tutorials section?
