Try mapping the same controller to Timbre and Frequency, then a different controller to Harmonics and Morph.
It seemed to work for me when flipping through the presets. I used Rozeta XY as a controller.
You can use one instance with two CCs connected to the Elastic OSC parameters.
👍
I would love a modulation source that is synched to notes (like an envelope or a one shot LFO). This way each time you play an note, you get the same modulation again.
This app rocks. Thank you @elasticdrums
Question: would you consider adding longer/more varied options for the automation recording? Considering the kind of sweet flowing sounds this thing makes, I find myself wishing it wasn't locked in to 1/2/4 bars. A 6- or 7-bar one would sound like a longer pattern, a kind of polyrhythmic modulation - maybe if could select 1 to 8 bars?
+1. Perhaps some way to also set times by the second (with decimals) too, or just some kind of free recording length mode
As for automation in Elastic OSC I’d love to see some additional LFO’s / Step-Sequencers (with optional interpolation between the steps, like running the step output thru a lowpass filter to smooth things out).
Next update will cover DX7 Soundbank Import and some other improvements.
Then, LFO's will come!
Which will enable longer evolving changes, but also quick changes, synced and unsynced to the clock.
Oh, sweet. Looking forward to the DX7 patch imports.
Nice!
Groovy
Excellent! Excited to try this.
Looping automation is nice. What about an option to make it a triggered enveloppe?
For those looking for more ways to modulate/automate, I highly suggest hosting Elastic OSC in Drambo. Very potent pair.
Holy shit… this might replace KQ Dixie for my DX needs then … as if I didn’t need another reason to love this
Not sure about that

Elastic OSC can load DX7 Banks, but it's very restricted in how you can edit the sounds.
If you like to work on your DX sounds in depth, KQ Dixie is still your app.
On the other hand - if you use the same sounds over and over again und don't change anything, Elastic OSC can give them a new touch, because editing is easy and very quick, plus you have extra effects
Okay, for all the DX7 lovers among you. A new Elastic OSC test version is available. I hope DX7 Import is now less confusing. If anyone want's to join the test team, please write to: [email protected]
Here is an in depth tutorial video how to use the Plaits Editor to generate your own DX7 Bank:

But you can also just import any DX7 Bank sysex file ... there are thousands of them ...
@elasticdrums any funny business if you load a DX7 patch and change the oscillator to something else? Like is there anything "extra" going on? Just curious. I would volunteer for testing but I'm just too busy atm.
No, there is nothing "extra" going on. if you change the oscillator type, it's another oscillator type, no easer egg jumping out of the screen unfortunately.
But there was also something wrong in our DX7 implementation, which is fixed now, so it sounds more like the original. So now you can load all these classic sounds and play the Kenny Loggins, Toto, Whitney Houston hits and then fuck them up with the XY pad, it's a pleasure 🎹😆
More than thousands. Maybe billions? Trillions?

@Edward_Alexander let's say almost endless
Actually I directly link to this generator from the App (I asked the owner)
Oh, mama. Excellent.
Dx7 is new to me. Is that like Soundfonts?
A DX7 was/is a Yamaha Synth/Keyboard that was very popular in the 80’s. Hard to program so people tended to search for
interesting presets on the internet and sell, share or make your own.
Soundfonts are pre-packaged collections of sampled instruments similar to he General MIDI banks on a Roland Sound Canvas
or the PC Soundcards of the 80’s like the Gravis Ultrasound, SoundBlaster(s), etc. Once you give a sample to an SF2 file it’s
protected from “borrowing” unlike SFZ files which have samples in a specified folder.
Personally. I’m getting into Decent Sampler instruments which also have included FX, a User Interface design feature and
hundreds of instruments shared in the internal App Store and free instruments at https://www.pianobook.co.uk/sampler/decent-sampler/
So Soundfonts are like rompler/sampled instruments, and dx7 banks are more like presets. Neat! I’ll download some and try it out later tonight, thanks for the tutorial vid! @elasticdrums
Edit: i see now that vid is about plaits. I’ll poke around and find my way 🤙
Re-edit: found some curated banks, importing works great! Took me a minute to figure out the harmo/bank system but ya, no issues, neat-o feature, ok back to dx7ing (THERES SOOO MANY haha)
Nice! Forgive me as I haven’t really been through these new features yet, but where is this link in the app?
The DX7 import feature is only available yet in the recent Beta Test version, see the screen above.
In an OP6 module (select module 19,20 or 21) you have to tap the preset button, then you have the option to either open that external patch generator or to import a DX7 bank. For example the DX7 bank, you just created with the patch generator
Ah! I see it now. Thanks @elasticdrums
