i just bought mideast drummer as accompaniment for my guitar playing and i have to say iam amazed how good that sounds.
    its not even 200mb

Yeah I think it’s still my favourite, just love jamming along with these rhythms on my guitar as well, one day maybe it’ll get the AUv3 loving 🙏

  • I like to use Mid-East and Indian drummers to add accent accompaniment bits to go with my more “normal” programmed drum tracks.
An 808 electro beat with some tablas and whatnot fading in and out sounds really cool 😎

Looking forward to AuV3 eventually being added to these, just for easier integration. And I’m definitely happy to pay for an upgrade.

So, how do you get out of the mixer/kit screen? Seems there is no way to return to editor screen, etc.

Hi there.. These is an issue in this view in Auv3, moving any mixer knob makes the return button to disappear. It’s fixed, but adding a few more fixes to the update, hopefully it will be ready today.

Is anyone using the auv3 in ableton live 12.3? The latest pop drummer update 1.0.2 opens on the purchase page and won’t restore my purchase. I’ve signed in and out, deleted, reinstalled, restarted, etc. The previous versions have worked in ableton. The standalone 1.0.2 works on my Mac. So frustrating….

There’s a compatibility issue with the manufacturer code on Apple Silicon Macs that affects AUv3 validation in DAWs like Ableton.
We’re releasing a fix that keeps full backward compatibility, so the validation will work properly again.
Just keep in mind that now with Standalone, AUv3, iPad, iPhone, iOS, and iOS on Mac, exceptions can multiply too easily.

Update coming ... thanks for your patience!

    :)

  • multiple pain. i understand now the delay going auv3.
    no fun

The possibility of adding our own midi files. Is that a wish list item or its already possible ?

in auv3 theres a soundmodul button.
    maybe try this?

really appreciate all the suggestions… but this one we don’t quite get. If you just load a MIDI file, you’re basically using the engine as a simple midi player. What makes the drummers special is their improvisation, variation algorithms, and jam options to play live, which make everything sound alive. Loading a MIDI file just to play sounds kind of kill all that.

like riffler, the real power is whats happen behind the gui.

what is the "soundmodul" button in auv3?
to trigger popdrummer from outside with midi?

Yerp. The improv feel of each drummer kicked up really sold me on the engine

The fill button however... That's just the bad kind of addicting. Tapping on the last measure for a short transition, got dang delightful

That is the point using Pop drummer as a midi beat browser. I was hoping the engine could use the midi file as a basis but that is a far stretch. Their not really a midi beat browser on iOS . Yes some will point to Helium.

If you don’t like the idea in Pop drummer maybe it’s a app you could develop in the future. I have bought this midi beats and it’s not super easy to browse 4500 + midi beats on ios. https://ugritone.com/products/almighty-midi-pack-midi-collection

I am not into jamming or improvisation but variation is nice.

Yeah, i would also love to have a midi file previewer! I known there was an app that did that but I can’t recall which one it was.

I haven’t tried Helium, perhaps that should do it?

Yes, the variation, transformation of a beat…. Then the ‘Send Groove’ to iBassist, other drummers, percussions..

I'm not saying that midi import is a good idea, but I think I see the reasoning. Even with the engine, every beat is based on a pattern, right? And users can enter their own patterns. From those patterns the algorithms work their magic.

MIDI import could be a source of setting up the base patterns to work from.

At least that's what I envisioned people were asking for, but apparently it's more afield than that for some. If a midi drum pattern browser/auditioner app is what is being hoped for, it seems to me too that another app would be more suitable.

I know other people hinted at helium above, but it really is good for the “midi pattern browser/auditioner” use case. And apologies if wrong but couldn’t you then just point helium at a lumbeat drummer? Is this not the same end result that midi import within lumbdrum would have?

That’s what I was thinking that a midi file could be the basis to feed the engine. Pop drummers lets us create pattern that become basis to feed the engine. But from Luis reaction I am doubting that it works that way.

On top it could be used a a midi file browser . Double bonus.

My big annoyance with Helium is you cannot audition midi files in time with your song. To do that you have to drop the midi file in helium at the exact bar.

I wish I could just click on a midi beat and have it play along to the loop region I have defined in Cubasis.

My midi beats are of many different metal style and are played by real drummers who know the style. Their is over 4500+ files. I really like the content, I just need something to browse them in time and drop them in Cubasis timeline when I find the right one.

If Pop drummer can do variation on the theme that would be even better. But I don’t need live jamming features.

I get what you’re saying. Personally I don’t mind the drag and dropping in helium, easy to “undo” and drop another midi clip in. Different strokes/different folks I guess! Also, as long as you have helium connected to a sound source you can long press any midi clip in the manager and it will preview it without having to drag/drop/undo over and over. Get the timing of the hold period down and you can sync it with whatever you have playing haha

It’s not the end of the world but it’s definitively less smooth than it could be. Having a nice looking app with click and listen in time would be a way more plaisant experience. I do miss Superior drummer big time.

I wonder if Helium could be updated to follow the Host timeline when previewing Midis? Perhaps the developer can do that?
