has anyone tried these flute auv3's?

i'm familiar with Jubal flutes, but @Jadestar makes these 1.99 AU's sound nice

Yes, the Kong Audio apps are sensational. Just very small sample sets afaik but through some sorcery they sound properly expressive - and even better, feel properly expressive played with a wind controller. And crazy cheap.

Standalone apps flip your screen. Just a weird quirk. And they don't do background audio very well.

I’ve had an opposite experience. Playing them with a wind controller, for me it was not great compared to swam… The sample set feels very limited and some of the instruments even have vibrato in the samples that you can’t control. But everyone has a different taste 🙂✌️

Oh wow, vibrato baked into samples is one of my pet hates

I don't even know what a wind controller is.

Well, now I do and am shocked anyone would expect an 1.99 au to work with a $600+ midi pipe. LOL. Poor thing.
I reckon it's designed for a keyed controller.

It’s like waiting for Pop Drummer to release all over again.

  • I don't get why this in question...?
the price is 39 currently on the official SWAM website.

Variflute is 39 on Audio Modeling site, is that what you're referring to? But the link above is not for Variflute. It's for a bundle of all the swam brass, woodwinds etc. Looks dodgy as heck at that price, too cheap, surely...

  • oops, sorry, - I hadn't noticed they were different links.
yeah you're quite right. i dont trust that other one!

  • Got tired of the waiting (this is not Apple, at least I don't believe it is) so I thought I try the desktop version. You have to install a software-center first, oh I despise this stupid trend with every fibre of my being. Even Klevgränd started one but they at least have the decency to let you choose, if you think you can manage installing all by yourself. I think they're pretty alone in that. Anyway, rant over but not the wait. Grrr!

It is actually due to the AppStore rejecting it. It'll be out when it's out, but yeah, it's better if companies don't say something will be out in a few hours if Apple haven't already approved it. In the meantime, just play with another Swam app or Geoshred to scratch the itch, I guess...

I don't use their apps so this will be the first if the price of $10 is correct. The itch was for trying this.

I understand. I'm sure they wish it had also been released by now too

  • Is it monophonic like the other SWAM apps?

It explicitly said $9.99 on iOS in the Audio Modeling email I received, a week back. I shared a pic of it in the sales thread if you want to check it out.

They wouldn't release a poly flute. But I wish they would tbh

    I would assume so

It allows for portamento via a non-mpe keyboard

  • With these audio modeling apps, I sometimes use a few instances with multiple touchscreen keyboards if I want polyphony. I think there's a Mozaic script for that too maybe? Also Polythemus probably, though it's been ages since I used that

Can you elaborate on the bit about using multiple touchscreen keyboards? Do you mean having multiple iPads each with a touch keyboard, or multiple instances of touch keyboards on one iPad?

Making sure I understand the term polyphony correctly - this means having multiple notes being played simultaneously correct?

That's right. And I just use two instances of Salome, for example, and 2 instances of a Swam app inside AUM on one iPad. It's only 2 possible notes of polyphony but better than nothing. Or use an app like Polythemus to hack something together

  • Interesting! Will Polythemus work also in Loopy Pro? I'm not quite sure how advanced MIDI routing works there...

No clue tbh, still haven't dived into loopy pro much

The Mozaic script is called Multi-Divisi v1.2, works perfectly.

Yes, you just have to setup different outputs for polythemus with individual channels (not Omni) and route those to individual instances of your synth.

Maybe I express myself blurry but I skipped it due to the extra app you have to install that install apps, so tired of that crap. I'm not sure how many of these centers and hubs whatever they call them I already have but I do know it's too many.

Yeah, it's really weird especially for a dev that already have a harem of apps published, if it was someone green I'd understand it better but this is just, odd.

I do hate how much space those software centers take. I only have 256 GB on my Mac - a big selling point of physically modeled instruments is their smaller footprint compared to samples. Defeats the purpose of that slimmed down software is defeated with an installer that’s 10x larger.
