  • I have all the elastic apps and love them.
But elastic fx should have some way to register your work.

    Recording or auv3

Now its only a live instrument.

  • Or make a new version with auv3

    I would buy again : )

  • Ha-ha!! All this time i thought i was using a Beepstreet app. Doh!

  • @elasticdrums The dx7 implementation is seamless. Excellent work. :chef's kiss:

Thank you, happy to hear you like it :)

  • Thanks @elasticdrums for your effort here, it would be awesome if the ElasticOSC presets were accessible in Files app. Would make exporting/importing patches in bulk a lot easier.

  • Great update, fantastic synth!

  • Interview with developer Oliver Greschke. They touch on

    • roadmap for Elastic Osc (LFOs, MPE…)
    • development of the Elastic family of apps
    • state of iOS ecosystem
    • lots more (in German, English subtitles work fine)

First Prototype of the coming LFO feature - what do you think?

Cool! Will we get similar LFOs for the oscillator section as well?

One 'weirdo' idea here would be to let the LFOs pairs (1+2 = X & Y and 3+4 = X & Y) optionally orbit around the red dot?

I'll keep an eye out for the TestFlight builds when they eventually drop :sunglasses:

    Cheers!

    Wow, that's very exiting!

LFO's will be basically restricted on the oscillator parameters even - to keep it simple

  • @Samu

    So that's the idea:

The basic idea is, that you can morph/mix important synth parameters in an LFO field of 1 to 4 LFOs. You set the LFO mix of your parameter by dragging it between different LFO sources. The closer your parameter is to a certain LFO, the more this LFO will affect it.

You set the LFO amount (of all 4 LFOs) for a parameter with its amount knob. When tapping this knob, it also highlights the parameter’s position in the LFO field, and you can drag it between the different LFO sources.
You get the idea?

Right now you also set the LFO waveform and its frequency in the XY pad (X = waveform, Y = frequency). I’m not sure if that will be the final idea, since it’s a bit confusing to change the parameters LFO mix with the xy pad, but also the lfo freq and waveform. But it's also great fun to do the second.

Maybe I'll do a Test Version soon, so people can try out, hard to explain it in words ...

  • Finally a first test version of the coming LFO Update is available on Testflight

  • @elasticdrums The new LFOs are really nice and seem to be working as expected. I like the 'mix' function allowing me to blend the four LFOs.

It could be nice to allow the mod-wheel to relatively control all the LFO modulation amounts?
(Ie. mod-wheel at zero = no LFO modulation, max mod-wheel = all LFO amounts at their pre-defined defined positions?).

I did get one weird 'warning' when using the Mod-Wheel, it says no automation recorded so I guess there's some relationship between the mod-wheel and recorded automation?

To me the LFOs bring new life to Elastic OSC as I never became friends with the automation recording which I usually do in a DAW.

  • Great! Is there a Testflight link?

  • @Samu thanks for your great feedback (also on Testflight).

Ah, that's a good idea actually

Exactly, with the mod wheel you set the general amount of Automation modulation. So you are asking to do the same with for the LFO's, that would actually fit the workflow

Yepp! This way the assigned LFO modulation depths could be controlled with the mod-wheel.
There might some 'conflicts' if mod-wheel is also used to control the depth of the recorded automations.

Usually I like to use the mod-wheel to to control vibrato but with the new LFO's I can sacrifice one LFO for the FREQ AMT and fade it with using the fade parameter making it 'auto vibrato'.

An alternative would be to allow assigning the mod-wheel to selected parameters?
(Ie. tap on the mod-wheels mod-label to enable learn mode and then tap a parameter to assign them?).

For the most part it already works really well.

As for other suggestions, a 'note repeat' for the arpeggiator could be a nice addition?

    Cheers!

  • I just bought Elastic OSC yesterday and very pleased with it. Better go do a review :)

  • Very interested to see how this already insanely flexible synth continues to evolve

  • @Fruitbat1919 Reviews are super welcome 😀

  • edited November 2025

@jakoB_haQ has released 75 free presets for EOSC on his Gumroad. I haven't tried them yet.

Edit: Now I have tried a bunch (not all 75) and they're really good, which was kinda expected.

  • @elasticdrums Regarding the LFOs, I feel it would be a good idea if the four LFOs defaulted to their respective corners?

There's really no clue which LFO is being used when starting to adjust the AMTs?!
(need to be in the LFO mixer page in order to see that).

The 'defaults' for the different AMT knobs is also a bit puzzling (spread diagonally from LFO1 to LFO4) so if only LFO1 is active adjusting the AMT has no effect on some parameters as they may be defaulting to using other LFOs?!

When 'all' blobs are in one corner it's always the 'pan' blob that is moved first out of from the corner no matter which AMT knob is selected so moving out 'one' of the AMTs from the corner becomes a bit tricky as they are on top of each other.

Idea here would be that when tapping an AMT knob it would select and bring up the blog to the top layer for easy movement.
The AMT knobs already select the correct 'blob' but when multiple are stacked on top of each other it's very hard to predict which blob is actually moved :)

I chose to post this here because I feel I'm not the only one feeling a bit confused about this :sunglasses:

Oh, cool, didn't know about that yet

  • I can't wait for the LFO update. Honestly, this is still my favourite synth, and I even have two other Plaits synths. I just love the interface design, the XY pads, it's just so freaking intuitive. Recently I discovered the melodic possibilities of the Bass/Snare/Hat engines, so fresh!

  • Jakob’s presets are great! But they’ve gone into the “user” presets folder. Is there a way to create a new folder to put these in? Rather than in with my own presets…. @elasticdrums

  • Hmm, another question; just went to the “yamahablackboxes” website and downloaded 10 sysex thingymebobs, then went into Elastic OSC , pressed “load dx7 bank”, selected them, got a message telling me it was successful,…..but they’re nowhere to be seen (?) @elasticdrums
