@amusesmile would you consider adding a sustain option for either envelope?
Humm ... 🤔
How would that work with samples? They'd have to have loop points defined. I'm guessing some of the engines would run into similar challenges.
They already loop (in different ways depending on the engine) when the total envelope time exceeds the sample length; I’d just like to be able to do that for as long as I want. This request is admittedly a way of satisfying my selfish desire to see a single voice extracted as a standalone instrument; the sample engines are just so much fun and “performable”
I'll take your word for it. I answered from theory without actually diving into the details. To me, you can't get a what I think of as good sounding sustain on a short audio sample without defining some kind of loop points. If looping just means retriggering and that's OK, then 👍🏼
I have no idea how the various engines would deal with an indefinite sustain. Could be it would be fine.
Oooh, iPhone Testflight version is back!
With love, by popular demand, apologetically because it's not great on that small of a screen, but does get the job done in a pinch.
Moog model 15 has a cool zoom feature as well 👍
I really appreciate y’all reinstating the iPhone version. My poor old iPad can’t really handle Battalion, and I have become accustomed to apps on the small screen.
it’s works great on iphone. i’m having a blast with it
+1
True, in the same way that I asked them a question via their support method and after a couple of weeks was told there was nothing they could do about it but they would forward my issue to the development team anyway.
On my iphone I have problems with the lowest in the middle buttons.
When I try the operate them that beam to close the app blocks it
Amazing stuff! Are you just testing it again or will it be in the App Store version?
No one else have a problem with this?
How do you operate the bottom middle buttons? (Sequencer, perform.)
I can tap ‘through’ the beam some how in standalone. Otherwise I’m hosting in loop pro so can move it around the screen.
Ok i’ll try that in Aum.
It works!
You messaged Plugin Alliance? We've had a few reports of people that haven't had their messages forwarded from PA to us. Would you mind sending us an email with the details or a screenshot or something? Plugin Alliance is supposed to handle our support so if messages are getting lost it's a violation of the agreement with them. Sorry that happened. Our email is contact@[ourcompanyname].com. Thanks!
And Meek3 we've gone through months and months of emails trying to figure out which one we didn't respond to that you sent, but can't find it. There's probably a different name you used in email vs. here, which makes sense but what's the issue? Just let us know and we'll see what we can do.
Thanks for the reply. I forwarded the email to you.
Thank you for all the effort
That is really nice of you but the issue is resolved.
It was about Silo but I just didn’t do the right steps
Sorry
It is one of my favourite apps and I’ve got all unfiltered audio apps. (Just the testflight version of battalion, but I have to buy that too)
So, maybe I missed it. How do I get Battalion to record a pattern to MIDI in an app such as Cubasis 3?
I don't think you can. Battalion doesn't appear to output MIDI.
... which is weird since you can add it as a MIDI FX in AUM.
@wim I think I recall seeing something in these pages about a request for MIDI out....If that happens, would it be able to write MIDI in a host DAW?
If the host DAW had the ability (native or via plugin) to intercept MIDI and capture it somehow, e.g. in a clip.
I guess one follow-up question for Battalion users here: Is there a way through MIDI to trigger various patterns or sequences (similar to Hammerhead where each pattersn can be triggered on a key press)? How do you use Battalion within Logic or Cubasis and have different patterns play throughout a track? I don't need it to printo MIDI if I can trigger different sequences at different parts of a track, but I haven't figured that part out yet.
Battalion's sequencer doesn't have pattern slots that you could save patterns into and then play back like Hammerhead does. To play back different sequences, you need to save a preset for each one, then use the host mechanism for loading presets. I'm not sure how smooth Battalion is at changing presets. You would have to experiment.
Battalion currently doesn't have patterns (though they are coming), so are you talking about changing presets?
Yes. I've seen some notes above about changing presets through Midi channel 11. I'll need to experiment. While I am loving creating patterns in Battalion, and it sounds fantastic, for practical recording purposes it seems to be lacking some key features, which is a real headscratcher for me. Unless you plan on having the same pattern (or preset, rather) playing throughout the entire track, I'm not too sure how this is realistically used inside a DAW without a lot of headache.
