  • Here's a little preview for a percussion rack I made.

Just a quick sloppy jam with two of my midi racks

These are my 2 most complex midi racks, one is a collection of I think 16 (and counting) arps, sequencers and trigger mechanisms using the incoming chord notes. The other an extensive drum sequencer with generative parts, grooves between straight, groovy and whatever, Fills and rolls per drum (8). It’s a much bigger and better version of Oh Snap, which is my greatest hit (and first release) on patch storage so far.

Just showing the two off a little bit sequencing Batallion, Dagger and World Piano. I plan to try selling those via kofi for 5 bucks each, the first ten buyers get both for the price. Would love to know if somebody would be willing to pay. Feel free to let me know. On top of that, I have quite a couple of patches, I’ll start uploading to patch storage in the next couple of days, too. So, stay tuned.

  • Ah dude, I like this! Inspires me to get better in Drambo!

  • @oscillotus Thanks, man:) I guess you're well on the way, looking at your generative Drambo thread.

  • A generative drum sequencer (or melodic, feel free) with lots of hands-on control. First randomise Fill and Offset, then find a nice spot on the journey and from there take a couple trips, then get real slick or FSU with the groove controls.

Should I be able to just file-open and select the module?

I have some patches that open and some that just sit there mocking me.

I have some userful Drambo rack. Not as complicated, but can be time consuming to setup. So if possible or any interest im happy to share them:

*Rack for Pure Acid - DRUMS only
    - keeps bassline section muted while you change the combined presets (to reflect for drums only)
    - Pads plays drums only

*Rack for Pure Acid - BASS only
    - keeps drums section muted while you change the combined presets (to reflect for bassline only)
    - Pads plays bass only

*Rack for Turnado for midi mapping:
    - 8 Dry/Wet gate style buttons (folowwing the knob state)
    - 8 Dry/Wet knob
    - Random buttons
    - Program Change
    - Useful for automation or midi mapping for DJ Setups

    *Drumrack for FAC/Hammerhed Drumkit:
    - 8+2 audio out with layers.
    - 8x Send A, Send B.
    - 1-1 insert effect slot for each 8 output.
    - Option to select Drambo or Octachron sequencing. Octachron with 8 pattern selector button for automation window

    *Drumrack for Grooverider GR16
    - 8+2 audio out with layers.
    - 8x Send A, Send B.
    - 1-1 insert effect slot for each 8 output.
    - Grooverider pattern selector for automation

    *Drumrack for Patterning 3
    - 8+2 audio out with layers.
    - 8x Send A, Send B.
    - 1-1 insert effect slot for each 8 output.
    - No pattern selector, as it’s easy to drag&drop into Drambo

    *Drumrack for Koala
    - 8 audio out with layers.
    - 8x Send A, Send B.
    - 1-1 insert effect slot for each 8 output.

    *Rack for Loopy Pro
    - For 1 loop (start with C1) (loop start quantization must be active for precise start/stop timing in Drambo)
    - Auv 3 Slot for plugins like Radio Unit, or Synths with internal sequencer to record into Loopy Pro

    *Sampling Rack
    - Preset for multiple options: Sample into Flexi Sampler, or quick live beatmatched record into Loopy Pro or into Koala Sampler. All three in one rack.
    - Instrument rack optionally to record sequenced audios into audio in loopy pro. Or sampling from websites with auv3-s like Web Audio Player into Koala.

Possible there are some rework needed, or i have to share AU presets like for Loopy Pro and some cases, but 95% they are working.

Might have to do with the type of file, this is a midi rack. Here’s what works for me:

I just downloaded the patch from patch storage, this is what it looks like in my Downloadfolder:

When I just tap this file, Drambo opens with this dialogue:

I picked the scraps folder, then apparently nothing happens, but don’t trust appearances, because you find it in the midi rack presets, ready to go.

    Hope that helps:)

  • Cool patches as usual @tyslothrop1

One thing you’ve inspired me to do in my own patches, is to utilize that X/Y pad; something I’ve never really paid attention to.

  • @arnou sounds good, the more the merrier, just put them on patchstorage:)

Thanks, yes I love me some good XY, if I find two things (or more), that are fun to tweak at the same time. That's one of my favourite things in Drambo, building a kind of playing surface and then hide all the technical stuff, where no one will find it (mmh not sure about the second part(;)

  • @arnou
I’ve been struggling to create a Koala setup that works well for me, so would love to see how you put yours together! A patchstorage upload would be much appreciated, thank ya kindly!

  • @arnou I'd also be interested to see how you implemented the Pure Acid drums rack. I have one that works well, but I am curious how you did it!!

  • @tyslothrop1 yes, sir- found the lil fella nestled under the midi rack /dir

appreciate ya. I glossed over so many patches with the same behavior, thinking it was a version issue. Glad I asked you.

I will uploaded and sharing with you. Although these cases i think you need to setup Koala auv3 inside.

As i dont see any similar Im not sure i can share racks what uses auv3 from other programmers on Patchstorage.
So i would drop here rather.

I have did it at first days with drambo, with something like LFO moving volume on 0 or similar. Not so elegant solution, but it works. :)

  • So here’s an update on the PT30 chords rack. It’s gotten a lot more useful, I’m especially pleased with how it handles velocity.

    Get it here:

    https://patchstorage.com/pt30-chords/

  • I found a workaround to get the meta randomiser to save it’s state (sort of).

    Get it here:
    https://patchstorage.com/meta-randomizer-statesavehack/

  • Here’s a new midi generator I made. It spits out soundtrackish stingers if you wiggle its pads.

    Get it here:

    https://patchstorage.com/dilettante-virtuoso/

  • A quick jam I did with a couple of drum machine samples, Mariana, J6 and a couple of my midi patches. The melodic sequencer on the bass and lead, I’ll probably upload soon.

  • @tyslothrop1 incredible stuff man. Your patches are fantastic. Inspiring and useful. Much appreciated.

  • @arnou hey good job, they sound nice! I would be interested in the ones for koala, GR-16 and patterning 3

    Thanks mate!

  • Does your drum machine sound like there's a stick in its socket? Maybe slip it some digital booze.

  • I'm working on a system of flexible drum sequencers that I can feed to any drum plugin for a while now. It consists of 4 blocks of exchangeable midi racks:

    1. sequencers that generate a pattern that just run mostly fixed patterns. I have about 10 (and counting) racks that do that in various ways.

    2. modifiers that can add swing or more complex and/or wonky grooves in variable degrees.

    3. racks that can add fills in hands-on or preprogrammed ways. If you put them before the groove rack, the fills can follow the groove, too, but I mostly prefer if they don't.

    4. racks with mappings for different drum machines. As different drum machines have different numbers of drums and I still wanted to keep the sequencers universal, so I could just exchange the drum machine and still have a working beat going, I decided to limit triggers to 8 drums at a time. However the rack lets you switch between 3 sets of 8 triggers, so you could for example switch between sidestick and snare or hat and ride in different parts of a song. And there is a fourth option to randomly assign different sounds to the triggers (you can also leave kick and snare in place and just randomize the other six triggers). Drum machines with fixed mappings (no matter the preset a given key triggers the same kind of drum, like in Tekno or VADrum2), I labelled, so it's easy to change a mapping. For battalion, I just put numbers as labels. And for Oneshot I took a kit I like as an example and some of the labels will be correct with most presets. With most plugins, you won't hit empty slots.

I think, I'll upload some example videos, soon. Anyone interested?

  • @tyslothrop1 Always interested in your creations.. they’re so good.. this one really sounds like it’s loaded with options.. one can never have enough drum sequencers, modifiers or racks.. 😁
