I've wanted Tonaly for awhile, it's got this note app that Leo uses in a lot of his videos

I think that’s Tonality not Tonaly!

    I specifically meant Tonaly:
    https://apps.apple.com/us/app/tonaly-write-practice-songs/id1242467844

I usually don’t comment about price apps but having bought the app before this iap change, I wouldn’t pay $69 for it ever. It’s cool, has a nice UI, but it’s also nothing revolutionary or much better than other chord/songwriting apps that exist in iOS and desktop and are better integrated. I, in fact, tend to use Tonality a lot more on iOS.

    Good to know.

I had reached out to the developer of Scaler to ask if I were to buy Scaler 2 now, would there be a discount to upgrade to Scaler 3 when it is released (was slated for this year) - People that had bought Scaler 2 on PC just before or at Scaler 3 release got a free upgrade to 3.

But the dev said there would be no free upgrade or discount for iOS for Scaler 3 for existing Scaler 2 owners. And also that Scaler 3 is now not slated for release until sometime 2026.

I've since been looking at alternatives, and Tonaly was one on my radar, though likely one I will pass on for now.

I haven’t fired up Scaler in quite a while, though I do consult it when I have found myself stuck on how to modulate. For some reason, I gravitate more towards ‘lighter’ apps like Tonality and, oddly enough, Pensato & the defunct Music Theory Illustrated (https://music-theory-illustrated.updatestar.com/en). Harmonious is another one I’ve started to open more as a reference.

    Check ChordButter

Same dev similar app, which is in my opinion better, for the same $69 lifetime purchase

I think I got grandfathered in because I bought it a long time ago and I don’t see any subscription to purchase inside the app, I seem to have full functionality. I never bought the additional scales or anything, but other than that I can use it like I always have apparently.

Same. I just hit restore purchase because I couldn't see any IAP. It just restored "Pro" access. Everything works.

Well… There’s an update today, and a price change.

TONALY is now a free app was $9.99, but with IAP subscription or lifetime purchase options.

Has anyone updated it today to make sure previous users were grandfathered in to the new version?

Update - I think this one is going IAP after using I noticed the IAP process set up in settings but not able to be purchased just yet. Says 14 day free trial.

How do you unlock the free IAP? I only see a 3 day trial, options for a deal on one year or a monthly option, and then a screen offering a 7 day trial.

Yeah no lifetime change in Australia. I always find the IAP changes are usually reflected in the appropriate section on the App Store so no need to download and go hunting. Check App Store first.

On App Raven several people are commenting and replying to comments about having the same exact problem with this app. unfortunately no one has found or mentioned a solution at the moment, maybe this is something the developer missed or messed up, not quite sure, but it is very annoying when this happens. I’ll continue to check the comments, maybe reach out to the developer to see if I can get some answers. Sorry y’all.

Here is the developers website, but all I see is an Instagram and TikTok logo. There is a free audio to midi tool and other free web app tools, but no “contact us” in the traditional sense. Odd.

Yea, true, it’s debatable. I dabble a little bit, but it was such a massive discount, free usually $130, and after testing the app it seemed to be pretty interesting so I added it. You’re right though that one might have been a little over the curation line. Appreciate the feedback.
