How is it not AI? From what I can tell , it's "machine generated using software algorithms" - AI!!

Software algorithms are based on mathematical, statistical and logic rules that are used to create something - a melody for example. Wotja offers a very detailed system to create and modify these rules.
An AI system in contrast is based on machine learning based models that have been trained with existing data - for example music that others created before. The output is created by the AI system finding patterns in the model that match the query.

    Indeed, thank you!

And not only that - Wotja is very much about personal creativity. Which, so far as I can tell, Generative AI systems are not.

  • Hi Folks,

FYI we have just submitted a couple of hot fixes:

    • 26.0.1 for Windows which includes a hot fix to resolve the In-App Store display issue.
    • 26.0.1 for iOS which now shows the Pro 26 Mobile OTB price in red during its Early Bird deal period.

    With best wishes

Hi @imtim! Hope this is the right thread for a question. I've been using Wotja for some time - it is an amazing program - and I just bought the Pro26 upgrade while on early bird pricing. Great work as always!

One thing that always has bugged me remain, though, and I am curious whether this is something you might have plans to look into at some point: I love to sequence cells - you can get some great things going by using more rows in parallel, and letting cells generate for different number of bars so they drift in and out of sync with the changes. However, the changes from one cell to the next when the number of bars are up are always quite abrupt, sometimes even generating clicks from the internal sound engine.

From the manual it seems that you can not adjust the crossfading between cells, and that there is a fixed duration of 2 seconds: https://wotja.com/tutorials/item/mix-cell-sequencing.html

Have you considered opening up for the option to adjust this? Longer (really long!) crossfading between cells would be amazing! Or are there some deeper engine-related reasons for this not being possible?

We have wanted to be able to look at this area for a very long time, but it is challenging for a number of reasons. I hope we might be able to find time to look this year, but we have a lot planned and it will depend on Pete!

  • Hey Tim! Thank you guys for the updates. Just a question as a developer to a developer, how much did your dev workflow change due to the rise of AI agents, do you use it a lot, a little, not at all?

Hi! We don’t use it all. I tried a couple of experiments, and decided it is a terrible idea! For my money, I view generative AI as a “plausible output generator”. Nothing more.

    Best wishes, Pete
