Hi Tim,
Thanks for creating a new thread and linking all the old ones in. There is a lot of info there.
2024 has been busy year and the rise of AI music tools really changed the music world and will probably continue to change it in the upcoming years, it’s important you've addressed this in https://wotja.com/app/#ai as Wotja is really a different tool than the likes of Udio and Suno. I think Wotja as a randomized generative tool will still have a lot of use and various uses, but I also think Wotja might benefit in the future from having its own built-in mini-AI module built inside that will take some control or randomness but will provide a lot of cool opportunities in creativity and rapidness in the flow of creation.
Glad to see Tim and Pete address that, yes! And some great points there.
Thank you (and thanks, too, @Gavinski)!
Yes, there is a lot there, and history, too, and we figured we should try to find a way to consolidate it whilst moving to this new thread. History is not for everyone and is easily lost, but it turns out it is actually quite important for those with an interest in it!
It was certainly a very busy one for us, that is for sure...
Yes
Thank you for spotting that! We felt it important to set out some of the issues as we saw them. We feel there is definitely a place and a need for chance (i.e. via aleatoric techniques), whether that is total (pure) chance or chance to fill in around a structure (like we allow with patterns). There is a lot more we can add (and hope to add) to Wotja that will allow more to be done here...
Yes, so do we! And, we really do have a ton of non-AI things that we would like to add to Wotja, either as New Features or Improvements - but it is just a case of time. And, as everything takes time to do, time is always scarce!
Possibly, but there might be other approaches, too. Our view on this at the moment is that we already have support for 2 things that could already be used for some of what you might want to do (and, the real question there is of course defining what it is that you would want to do!).
The 2 existing things in question are:
1) The WAE Sample Player - https://wotja.com/guide/#wae-tg-sampleplayer
You could well AI tools to create sound samples that you then use in Wotja via this unit. That would probably get you a long way. And, of course, you can save the samples to the mix so the mix is 100% portable. We will also be extending this unit in W25, but we are still working on that and trying to fix a few things so we do not want to tempt fate .
2) Scripting - https://wotja.com/guide/#wse
Wotja already has quite extensive and well documented support for the use of scripting (Javascript). We appreciate scripting is not for everyone but it can be used to do quite a few things and we provide some worked examples. We can in time go course extend support for scripting (provided we know use cases etc. and they are technically feasible). We feel it might well be worth exploring using your AI tool of choice to create Wotja scripts (which should be possible because of our documentation.
The other thing to highlight is that ALL our documentation is extensive (well, as far as it can be) and is also well linked. That being so, and if you wanted to, it should be possible to ask your AI tool of choice to provide you instructions on how to do something specific!
If anyone tries any of the above we would be interested to know how you get on, and maybe you could share pointers for others.
I hope the above makes sense!
Best wishes, Tim

Yes, sorry. Please see this post which explains how it happened and that it was inadvertent. https://forum.loopypro.com/discussion/59017/wotja-24-arriving-on-january-1st-2024/p5. It won't happen again!
Ah! Don’t worry!
