RELEASED - Scaler 3 for iPad on the way - just entered beta testing
Hopefully as good an upgrade as the desktop was… 👍

I’m wary. Paid full price for Scaler 2, and they never fixed the crippling problems with Logic Pro.
Nor the terrible performance and bad layout in other hosts
Is this a closed beta?
I think they are still open for testers at their forum at ScalerMusic.com
What hosts have you been having problems with? I have been using Scaler 2 as a Midi FX in AUM with AUV3 instruments in AUM, as well as external apps like Gadget and external hardware with no issues.
Gulp… Scaler 2 doesn’t work with Logic Pro? What’s the problem exactly ?
.
AFAIK there are 2 main problems with Scaler 2 and Logic, one of which is the App devs issue and the other is Apple. They may or may not be serious depending on workflow and other equipment.
The first one is that in Logic in landscape mode there is not enough vertical space to enable the keyboard at the top of the AUV3 window to display. For some reason the devs are unable to rectify this, however it may not be critical depending how you work. Rotating the screen to portrait solves it but might not work depending on your setup. Scaler still functions as normal, however the visual feedback on the keyboard is missing.
The other one is that Scaler Control (the Midi FX) will not sync properly to Logic’s timeline with any sample rate other than 44.1khz. According to the developers, MIDI FX do not get the sample rate passed properly. Supposedly, Apple has known about this since launch of Logic Pro on iPad. Not sure if the latest V3 of Logic has fixed this issue.
Bottom line is, you may be able to work around both these - dependant on your setup and workflow.
Thanks for the heads-up about the beta test. As an owner of Scaler 3 on Mac, I'm very interested to see how the iOS version compares!
@zzrwood : I believe the second part of your response was taken from a 2024 discussion forum w David , the scaler guy. Scaler 2 didn’t allow for adjustable sample rate but scaler 3 supposedly does. Also isn’t sample rate adjustable by now in LP4?
Looks like iBassist will have that perfect melody companion.. now.
Yes, that was Davide from Scaler providing that information. I don’t use Scaler much in Logic so not sure current situation.
Love iBassist, Scaler has a few bass tricks as well…
I use it frequently in Cubasis and it work very well. I am looking forward to the new version.
I just tested Scaler 2 with Logic Pro 3. Neither issue has been fixed. If your music revolves around Scaler, you will work around the issues. (Mine doesn’t.)
Whether I buy Scaler 3 will depend on two things: the intro price and whether it works in Logic, straightforwardly and without kludges.
Yessir it is a closed beta
Thanks. After some thought, I think I’m fine waiting for the official release, even then, not sure if it’s something I’ll actually use.
That, and I’ve already got too many beta apps I’ve been testing already.
Saw some videos of Scaler 3 performances feature… pretty amazing..
Edit… iBassist’s ‘Send to’ Scaler 3 would be crazy..
On AUM, Drambo and Loopy Pro, just moving the window leaves a "trail" of sorts, chords sometimes don't line up with the chord boxes, long loading time of chords when just picking a key from the circle of fifths and, switching tabs can some times take a few seconds too.
I got into the beta yesterday and have been trying it out. There are a few rough edges which is to be expected at this early stage of the beta, but I’m really liking the look and feel of it, and the extensive feature set.
I’ve got the PC version of Scaler 3 and I’m very happy with it. I find it a lot easier to do what I need with it on version 3 on desktop vs. version 2, so I’m very much looking forward to using it on iPad.
In beta
Just received my Tesflight invitation, very curious about this one. It's a big one, 1,14GB
It's absurdly large and unusable on iPhone, it's sooooo tiny. Tons of features tho
While the beta can currently run on iPhone, it is not supported and will be only for iPad at release.
@zzrwood :Good! Who needs it to run on iPhone?
Folks with iphones
He said… very very soon… 19 min into video, preview..
I hopped on this beta but haven’t gotten a chance to test it: it crashes immediately on start up as an auv3 or standalone. Haven’t heard back from the devs yet, but I’d imagine they’re super busy 🤷🏻♂️ The chord detection stuff looks pretty neat tho, especially geared towards guitar (shows fret diagrams and everythang!)
Very excited about scaler 3 working on the iPad.
The history of Scaler 2 on iPad has made me wary. But now that I've watched some of the videos for Scaler 3, I'm interested.
