FYI - No undo but it does have a snapshot feature which you can use to revert and if I recall correctly it does periodically auto save that you can use to revert. I’ll cover it in a video in the future.
I thought in the previous version there was a list of autosaves to revert to, but I don't see it in this version. It seems that the only autosave is the last one, and there's no indication of when that was taken? Could be I'm missing something though.
Manual snapshots are little use when it's so highly likely of screwing something up massively just in routine editing.
Yes - I believe the functionality changed a bit - that’s why I need to revisit it. Also, I’m a huge fan of undo myself, and I would certainly welcome it here, but I do think it has an effect on decisions and I’m willing to accept its absence in certain situations.
Undo could be very tricky in something this complex, that's for sure. But ooof. I've made so many big blunders that I gave up trying to dig myself out of. 😂
Oh well, I'm not one to whine about music making being too hard. You don't grow up playing violin and guitar and thinking making music has to be child's play.
Prism is never pulling more than 1%-2% DSP in Loopy Pro even with multiple tracks. 👍🏼
When you accidentally delete a trig, you can restore it my pressing the capture bottom on the top.
Here's a quick demo song made in Prism:
Hey Prism gurus, is there a better way to deal with setting a root and scale after the song has been started without it transposing everything?
I'll typically get going on a song just poking in melodies, bass lines on the white keys, etc. before I really think about what key I'm in. Then it occurs to me that things like chord blocks will be easier to deal with if the key and scale are set. When I change the root and scale, all the tracks are transposed, messing them all up.
I end up needing to go back to the existing tracks and shift them back down individually. Is there any way to avoid that or to do it quicker?
@wim .. Pretty sure this is unavoidable given how I think Prism’s key/scale change works .. I’m pretty sure it’s counting the interval between the old root and new root, then shifts all existing notes by that interval when you change key/scale
So even notes that exist in both keys get moved, because Prism isn’t matching pitches, it’s mapping degrees to the new root position.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but it sounds like you start sketching in the default C Maj and then switch to a key that shares most/some of the same notes — when you switch key/scale those shared notes still shift, because the root moved and everything follows it ..
I’ve hit a similar problem in Prism before and seems worth putting in a feature request .. what would it be .. a “Lock Pitches” option when changing key? Something you toggle on/off in KEY fx options? .. set the new root and scale but don’t touch the notes already recorded that are in key/scale ..
If you’re ready for full Prism conversion, jump on the discord .. join the beta .. If not no worries , I’m happy to put a feature request in if you think a lock pitch option is good .. or if you have another idea , let’s hear it..

Thanks for the quick answer @mikejohn. I just thought maybe I missed something. It's not a big deal really, but yes, I do think there should be some way to defer re-pitching things while the key and scale are being set.
You understood my workflow case correctly. I'm playing around, and at some point it dawns on me what key I'm playing in. By then it's too late to conveniently make a change.
I haven't thought it through thoroughly, but I think it would be enough to have a lock button, and while that's engaged, the sequences aren't changed. Then, once the key and scale (including custom scales) are set, disengaging the lock would turn the existing engine on. In my case, there'd be no net effect on the sequence since the resulting notes would generally be unchanged, but my pads and chords would be tidier.
That would also avoid multiple re-pitching, for instance when scrolling from C root to A root. I think it could be a low impact change, unless I'm missing something.
I don't think I'm up for any more betas right now, but I may join the Discord.
I have to say that now that I've got my head around Prism, it's been the only sequencer I've felt like using for more than a week now. It's really worth the effort to get to know. Now that the manual is substantially improved, learning it is much easier. Unfortunately, I don't think many people are up for going to the lengths needed to get to know it. That's the sad side effect of designing something so powerful I suppose.

@mikejohn rocks. Helping folks all over the world like a real life MR.T.
Ha .. thanks
Don't understand why patterns get greyed out when changing scenes. Can't find any option. Trying to learn prism and get a little frustrated trying to make a simple song structure.
Created new scene. Have two patterns of a synth. Only one of them works in that scene. The other is grayed out and muted when selected.
Anyone knows what I missed?
The app feels promising but a bit hard to understand every now and then...
Thx
Can you send post a screenshot of what you’re experiencing?
Just realized that they were just muted tracks of the drum track. So the "greyed" pattern contained just muted drum sounds and the other pattern contained active sounds. So all good actually!
Another thing I still can't figure out are kind of ghost notes when recorded live. Some notes aren't visible on the pattern display. They only have little "wave" symbols like the ones for note length. They appear on the piano roll though. But I can't edit them or delete...
Those “wave” notes are visible when you change the grid resolution .. in other words, those notes are still there and play but they just don’t fall into the grid of whatever resolution your sequencer is set to
Thanks mikejohn! I need to ask those simple questions. I begin to click with it.
Here is another thing which seems strange to me. Seems like CCs work wrong. When I move the fader it is not sending the values of the specific cc number but it's sending 0 values to all cc numbers. It acts like it's scrolling thru the CC numbers and sending 0 instead of sending the values to one cc number...
I don't know why the song timeline seemed to expand its steps by itself. I don't see any option for auto grow or capture while jamming. Now it shows there are multiple pages of song steps. The app crashes when I try to delete them one by one unfortunately.
That's a bug. I reported it some time ago on Discord, but I don't think it's been addressed. I'm not sure it's been acknowledged as a bug yet.
Hold down the record button and you'll see the auto-grow option. You can also double-tap the record button to keep the options open.
[edit] oh wait. You said song timeline, not pattern length. Sorry, I haven't explored song mode.
Here's a quick demo song made in Prism:
I’ve used song mode quite a bit. I don’t recall it auto expanding but I may not have hit on that behavior yet. Can you explain more about what is going on before it auto expands? I usually add song steps by selecting a scene and mute group and then tap a blank step to save it, or I’ll use the capture button (right between record and copy buttons) to do a live capture to the step.
@jakobs - Is a MIDI CC Profile loaded? It seems like that may be necessary for it to work correctly from what I’ve seen from other users, at least with the current version. There is an option to load pre-existing factory provided profiles or a default 1x8, for example or a brand new profile.
Hey I think it's a bug. It's only in this one project for now hopefully. Annoying cause I can't delete the unwanted steps. So it somehow randomly produced multiple pages of steps which can't be deleted. Anyway I rather skip it and work on something else or not do song mode...
Yeah exactly also made the experience that when using a profile it's all good. The workaround is fine.
From the Song Transformation Keypad, you can long press the trash can to clear all song steps .. nuclear option but at least it cleans things up and gets you a clean slate
Nice!
Thank you all for contributing.
Prism is such a capable sequencer.
The UI navigation is taking me way longer than I want to get comfortable with it, but I know that putting some time in is worth it.
I sometimes wish for a simple tabbed view, or better visual indication, of which which part of the project I am working in, so that I know what the functions of the multi-function pads will be, and how to get out of somewhere I don't want to be, without basically nuking the whole project.
Its evolving jamming partner possibilities are very impressive.
If you haven’t watched the @sfm videos, they're a good place to start .. Leo is quite a teacher.
There are also in-app tips when you open settings and turn on the info “i” at the top of the global settings menu.
In the same settings menu, towards the bottom, there is a Support section with Prism’s manual, link to sfm videos, walk through, discord, etc.
.. all of these are going to help navigate the ui immensely and get you better acquainted with much of what Prism can do .. also, just playing with it will uncover some really cool things that just make sense.
Tell me if this is a duplicate of a previous post (sometimes I lose track) - this is a short video to give a sense of how I think about Prism. For specific examples as others have stated Leo at SoundForMore on YT has amazing content on Prism. That said, let me know if there’s a particular area that you want covered and I can work on a video specifically for that. I’m planning another general video soon.
