Celestine - Realtime Granular Machine by iJo Audio (Released)

Celestine - Realtime Granular Machine has been ported and is in current AUv3 beta testing!! No solid release details as of yet but stay tuned…
Celestine is a real-time, celestial granular Max for Live device for Ableton Live and soon iOS. It transforms any sound into shimmering clouds, drifting harmonics, orbiting textures, and evolving ambient beds - all in real time.

I bought the Mac version a while back. I've played around with it a fair bit, but haven't used it in a track yet - it's a bit of an odd one - but the dev is a genuine nice guy, and good to see him porting his Max for Live devices to iOS.
Looks quite interesting. Odd in what way, would you say?

Neat!
Okay, this intrigues me. I can't wait to get this one for glitchy stuff.
I did testing for the Mac version, it's really a awesome app!
Now I know I can't wait for this to drop in the Appstore. May become a "secret weapon" of sorts for glitchy Ambient goodness.
I don't want to put anyone off, odd in a nice way I suppose. The nearest comparison I can think of would be GRFX, but with a much easier to use (for me) UI. Seems to work better using very clean short notes as an input, as I found it can get a bit messy otherwise.
No buyers remorse, I've got a couple of his other devices on my future purchase list, and will no doubt grab this one when it comes to iOS.
You will be surprised, Jim
Ian (the developer of Celestine) is a great guy, with awesome support. I invited him to join this thread.
It sure Looks nice.
Sounds like this can maybe do similar effects to the old 'buffer overide' desktop plug in?
Hi all,
I'm Ian, the developer behind ijo audio and Celestine. Appreciate the interest here! This is my first time developing for iOS abut it's long been on my roadmap as I love to dabble with Loopy Pro and AUM on my iPad. I find that working with iPad I inevitably end up making music differently than I would make on my desktop.
Anway, yeah, the beta is nearing completion and then I'll be submitting the release to Apple (fingers crossed, not sure what to expect there) and it should hopefully be in the store in the next 4-6 weeks.
Happy to answer any questions if they should come up!
Welcome Ian, it's good having you here!
Here is the link to the manual of the M4L version of Celestine, but there will be an updated manual for iOS.

Welcome! Cant wait to give this a go. Cheers!
Any chance to share the test flight link? Really excited for this one.
Great, I have it for desktop. Looking forward to the iOS release.
Hi all, it's been a busy couple of weeks! Just returned from Superbooth... my first time there. It was overwhelming in the best of ways. Sort of ended up taking a week off from working on Celestine due to that, but I'm back in action now and I'm feeling great about where it's at. Just finishing up the iOS app store approval stuff and it should be live in the next couple weeks. Appreciate the interest!
Celestine is awesome, I use it on my Push 3 Standalone for a while after some beta testing. The IOS/iPadOS version is very welcome.
Nice one. I purchased Augur last week, enjoying using that on the Mac.
Thanks all! Truly appreciate the interest. Yeah, I think the device works quite well with touch. I'm excited for this, my first iPadOS release, and many more in the future. Celestine is now live in the app store for pre-order (not that I'm expecting anyone to pre-order it before hearing it, but if you have already used the Max4Live version, the sound engine under the hood is identical). https://apps.apple.com/app/celestine-granular-fx/id6760750045
I'll be working on some video content for the release this week and there will also be a pre-release video posted in the days leading up to the release by my friend Doug from the Sound Test Room.
Pre ordered cheers.
Appreciate ya supporting older ipados, will pick this one up for sure 🤙
@ianjojo : Thanks for your work, I’ll preorder ….Excoted to see all the future apps you’ll be coming up with !
I'll be very transparent on this... the minimum required OS of 15.0 is something that snuck in while preparing this release. At this point I can't confidently say that Celestine will run on v15, so I'm now going to drill down into this and I may have to increase the minimum required OS. this is my first iOS release and i definitely want to do things right. i'm inquiring now if i'm able to test with an older OS version and if i'm not, i may have to bump up the minimum requirements. please bear with me.
very kind, thanks to you both!
@ianjojo can you confirm that it will run at least on iOS 17 and 18?!
thnx
Hi @ianjojo
Are you planning to release Augur for iOS?
Pre-order placed!
Pre-ordered! Hope for Augur port someday, Mordio sold it

Yes! Many of my testers have been running on iOS 18 and iOS 17 is the exact minimum I've actually tested on. I will be updating the app store listing to reflect this.
Ahh thanks to you both for pre-ordering. Appreciate it very much. And yes, I have been working on an iOS port of Augur but the issue that has me a bit stumped is how best to recreate the modulation section, since I think that's one of the most interesting and useful parts of Augur. With Max4Live devices, it's quite easy to simply map one of the modulations to anything else in Ableton Live. I'm trying to come up with a smooth and easy way to do that in the iPadOS ecosystem. It seems the only way is via a MIDI Learn type situation but I don't want it to be super complicated for the user. So to answer your question, I hope so! But I want do it right.
Also, yes, I was so touched by Mordio's video. He is a lovely and talented soul and I really enjoyed how he used the two devices of mine together.
@ianjojo
thank you!:)
any idea how heavy is on CPU?
any measurements!?
thnx
