Incredible! TJ is a must have for any serious IOS musician. All the midi options as controller is amazing.

Request: Can you create a default template or factory midi options reset option? Haven't checked I ots there, but would love it as I noodles around a lot in there and nose font remember what was what. Please?
Dont want to delete and reinstall.

I'm also Interested to know if a 'factory reset' for the options is available or planned? Pretty sure I've looked for one in the past and resorted to an un and re-install.

Alas, there is not a factory reset of any settings, but I appreciate now the need for one. I'll try to get that in the next bugfix release.

    That would be appreciated.

Oh man, this arp is so awesome for on the go sketching, recording the midi into cubasis, with perfect playback, So good, so good.

  • @sonosaurus, Now that ThumbJam has MPE, what kind of controls does ThumbJam have with the Roli Noise 5E app? Can ThumbJam control all 5 dimensions? I have tried all kinds of settings in ThumbJam, but cannot seem to get it to work. Is this possible?

  • wonderful app, but now we need a gang of tutorials.... or maybe it's just me :)

  • The what? Amazing update. Thank you so much Jesse!

Well, it has MPE input support but not totally complete output support. The closest you can get is with following output option settings: channel start = 2, Channel per touch ON, channel range 15, send pitchbend ON, send pitchbend range ON, send channel pressure ON, all other output options off. This will let you use velocity and volume controls in Edit->control which controls note velocity and channel pressure respectively. The one thing it won't send right now is the "Y" axis or what Roli calls Slide. There is also no "Lift" which is note off velocity.

    @sonosaurus ,

If I have 2 instruments on 2 slots, how to send both instruments sounds to 2 separate IAA Modstep tracks via 2 midi channels at the same time?

I could not get it, because 2 tracks always have the same or only one instrument sound.

    Thank you.

Looks like you need to set the channel start to 1 in TJ's midi prefs for both output and input. (Your screenshot shows it set to 2 and 16)

Ok, I see! fresh man's mistake. Thank you.

  • Amazing update! I have a random feature request if it's popular enough and not too difficult to implement @sonosaurus

In Arp mode; have another button to sync latch the keys running. Example, C4 E4 and G#4 are running continuously in Arp Mode/Latch mode but with my request you can slide (with one finger) up to D4 F4 and A4. Instead of striking the next set perfectly, with latch keys on we can slide all chords to the next scale! Does that make sense?

Again, this might be a dumb feature that no one would use but I think it'd be awesome!

Thank you so much for your hard work and give us more IAPs so we can give you $$$!!!

  • Awesome! Works so well. The arp on with latch mode played by Modstep keyboard is so awesome too.

  • I found a cute 'lil bug in the "Browse Audio to Export" when in slide-over. B)

Awesome update!!!!! Did input quantize make it in?

If you use the Arp in "quantize only" mode it effectively quantizes your playing or midi input live, yes.

    Woah...

Not had a chance to download yet, but this is exactly what I wanted to hear. Amazing.

So this is presumably a bit like playing Figure but allowing midi out!

Loving this update! I found myself wanting some quick way to tap the tempo in for the arp (ala Drumjam) rather than set the tempo by changing the BPM number on the loop page. I'm not sure where you would put the tap tempo button in the UI. A workaround I guess would be to Link TJ and DJ together and use DJ's tap tempo button. Also I wish time divisions for the arp could go even lower to include 1/2 notes and whole notes, currently 1/4 notes are the largest values you can set. It would be nice to set bass notes to play one whole note per bar while other instruments are dancing around that with smaller time values.

    Excellent work!!!! @sonosaurus

how many quantizing divisions are there?

  • There's something I am not getting - there are up to 8 instrument slots, and up to four splits. So is it possible to control more than one instrument per split (so you can combine sounds - that would be cool), and if not, how do you conttol the other instruments (external controller?). Still a great update!

  • Omg. I just realised the swing is per separate appregiator. I'm not imagining this am I ?

    +1

  • Really nice that notes or chords can be sustained with the sustain lock and stay active after the arp is turned on. All this with one intrument. Incredible that this can be multiplied by 8.

Sustain pedal can also be used to extend an arpeggio step giving it variations.
    The little details!

  • Is there a way to assign the y axis to midi modwheel or CC to control other ios synth? I been able to control a dIfferent synth app per instrument on consecutive channel, but can't figure how to send pitchbend for x axis and other parameter on y axis such as modwheel or CC.

  • Honestly you could make a supporter Iap that is just a donation for effort and I'd buy it. Serious

I saw a new game on the App Store, Mekorama, implement this very IAP strategy. Might be worth a look!

  • Looks like a dumpling tiger (money eater) app.

It's an interesting pricing strategy. The app is completely free to play, and fully functional. The dev is just asking for customers to pay what they like, almost similar to releasing an album on Bandcamp for free. I like it!

    Good!

When iPad 1 came out, there is free game called 'Smurfs' village' which ask to buy iap without secondary identifying from customers. Some boys paid thousands dollar. My son paid 100 US dollar. Then I asked Apple for refund of those. There are many and many victims around the world. :D

You can't yet play simultaneous instruments with a single split, it would have taken just a bit too much refactoring for this update. Perhaps next time! But you can easily switch which instrument slot a split controls by just playing in the split you want to change to make it active (yellow bars show at edges), then tapping the instrument you want it to be in the split/slot popup.

You can tap tempo by tapping the actual button that shows the BPM.

I'll consider adding slower divisions... I'd probably need to rework the UI to have it be a popup selector for divisions though, which would be too bad.

  • If i may suggest, same UI, but a menu in the options to select which time division to choose from. Personnaly, 1/64 is way to rapid, and I would put 1/2 or 1 instead.
It would be awesome if it was possible to personnalise completely the fractions of time, both numerator and denominator. Ex, 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, 1/5 1/etc. And 2/3, 3/4, 4/3, 3/2 etc

  • @sonosaurus - had a little snaggle last night - i was recording loops inside TJ using built in instruments. Had 6-7 tracks recorded. Then I started Blocs Wave and Linked them together - and then when TJ started playing - track 3 changed from a BASS instrument to a Mandolin instrument playing back at double time it seemed. The mandolin was the last instrument I had recorded into track 7. All other loops were fine except the bass on track 3 changed.... I couldn't find a way to change a recorded instrument loop...? possible?
