    Took me a little while to get into this, got me hooked when the drums kicked in, and my only complaint is that I'd have liked them louder, but I'm a simple soul; loud drum, loud bass. The chords sounded unusual (I have no musical knowledge and so that's the best I can do) but they really did work to slightly disconcert the listener. V clever, I like!

    No way as bad as you suggest. I would have liked that vocal further back in the mix, more verb, more blurred. The tunes got a trippy, melancholy feel that I appreciate, and if you really worked that more psychedelic feel in the mix I reckon it would work even better. As it is it's great, nothing to worry about!

    Liked that, nicely paced, clever song, got a bit of Thom yorke in there. How did u get that distorted effect on your vocal early on? Been trying to get that feel but can't quite find it. The 'he's a swivelhead' line works a treat, lovely drop. Like it a lot.

    Yeah, I really struggle with mastering. I want EVERYTHING louder ALL of the time haha. I threw the whole mix into a Cubasis compressor and I feel like the whole track is a bit too quiet.

    @bluepunk haha! No worries mate,it's still an excellent track that you were involved in.The lead vocalist is how I imagine you would sing if you were at karaoke singing a Take that track or something,just nice and relaxed.I am intrigued about this musical history of yours?

    Take That! Karaoke! Just checked my punk dictionary/rules book as was unsure of their meanings. They're not in the dictionary but the rules book states "Under no circumstances may you say these words." I will take that word "relaxed" into the next vocal attempt with me. Valid point Leo cos I know that I don't.

    Musical history? Maybe I'll leave that one for after the watershed. :wink:

    @Bluepunk I was all ready with the butter selling jokes until I read your later explanations. Who cares whether it's in the spirit of the club or not, it's a great song with some amazing guitar playing. Thanks for sharing. Ps I hope you had great night with your Welsh friends, I'm still hungover.

    @richardyot I liked the intro and all in all its not a bad little tune. The vocal is not your best as you have pointed out.

    @tgig nice quite evocative piece. My only criticism is that for me the violins at the start are bit too crisp and clean.

    Thanks very much. I will pass on your guitar compliments when I bump into him next time (I think he's away entertaining folk on the cruise ships). Had a fantastic night thanks. Excellent rock covers band to enjoy after the football. They even forced me up to sing "Pretty Vacant" as a reminder of England's woeful efforts!

    I thought the City boys could sup! Nothing compared to these lads. Same again Wednesday to lavish the liver.......Mmmm.....no! Hope the haze is clearing for you! :smile:

    Thank you! As we all know the strings are from GarageBand. I used synthmaster for some synths, MusicStudio for that choir that I love!, and the lead is an arpeggiated theremin in ThumbJam. Just slide just two fingers very closely together; very fun!

I guess that's my lone gripe, though— that your songs seem to march in a straight line, and I want to see more curvy hips on their reclined waveforms. I know you're prolific, so if you were to find a way to stitch some of your disparate efforts into longer, windier journeys I'm sure I would double dig it. One thing to mention— the organ lying under this track seems to get things discordant at points. I might investigate nudging the pitch in a few spots. Oh, and that warble synth at the end doesn't just break the song, but destroys it in the "good" discordant kind of way. Nice job. I do think it needs movement in the soundfield, though. You can have a lot of fun in panning that madness around.

    Thank you for the review, you're spot on! Before I've had tracks that were too "quantized" so this was all recorded live and yes, it absolutely gets pretty off-beat towards the end. Personally I kind of enjoy the sloppiness of it though! And yes, I seem to be too repetitive as of late. I vow to make July's song much more interesting!

    well that was a early unfinished version of it , its changed alot since this mix and i god my buddy from a great band the badbombs to play the lead part, this song became a bigger production than most mine. ill be putting it up soon i hope

    For that squeeky voice, I sang the line an octave low, then transposed the audio up and overdubbed. Sometimes artifacts are our friends.

    Many thanks for this very useful piece of information! Its a great help at every level. Though I don't completely understand it; I guess its too deep for me. I will go into deep meditation the next couple of days, to reveal all the wisdom I feel it has :smiley:
