Delighted. AB 3 on my instant buy list! *
Midi file editing is sorely needed in IOS. I would pay for this IAP.. Anyone?
Once I have AB 3 does AB 2 become redundant and can be deleted?
lovely
AUM for instance...I'm aware they're not so many other at the moment, but that's also for a natural selection process within the apps to catch the good one... And as AB is a standard, if they want to be part of this ecosystem, that will rise the all level quality AMHO.
For instance, yes !
That gave me an idea : for getting a better quality, should it be possible to have logs about apps launched thru AB3, some tests that clearly staten that they are AB3 compliant, or something that could use at best your framework you could check automatically ?
A kind of quality label, that could point out some bad integration, but available for us...Like this I'll just erase bad apps, or ask for refunds.
The 64 latency test might be part of it...Because actually, I have no clue what's going on if AUM or AB has 128, and if I have an that does not support that, what happens ? Crackle ? AB makes voodoo and everything is in 128 ? (I mean does in compensate latency, as for AUM).
All seems so obscure and opaque for the simple users we are, and it's so frustrating sometimes...
No AU support and no keyboard/pads is a big disappointment. That definitely takes down the "making things easy" factor significantly.
Instabuy nonetheless. Thanks for all the hard work!
Will AB3 be integrated in Studiomux like 2?
Yes.
Although no keyboard will be built into AB3 there will still be a dedicated keyboard app harnessing AB3's new MIDI features
Studiomux is not our product so I cannot talk about this.
Please note that we're just not including it in 3.0 but will almost certainly add it in 3.1.
Thanks, yes I noticed. I'm just not very enthusiastic about investing time into setups working around that limitation, only to re-jig everything later. But I get the need to get something out the door to begin the revenue stream. Instabuy for sure, but I doubt I'll use it extensively until 3.1.
So, for MIDI, will we see a "bus lane" or will the functions and info displays just be text based? I'm just trying to visualize how MIDI will be integrated within AB3.
So... Will it be possible to use AB3 as IAA-Generator?
Will audiobus ever become an au3 itself, so I can load it into compatible hosts and automate all my synth/fx chains.
Can ab3 record system audio?
It's an amusing past time watching how far down the rabbit hole we can collectively go with obscure feature requests and pernickety niggles, by the time we get onto the third page.
We are a picky bunch
Slick question is slick.
Has the date or cost been discussed?
Not to whine, but, I only use cash so need to buy ITunes cards prior.
So, I just wanted to know what I need to buy/have and for when.
I don't want to spend frivolously on junk apps and sound packs if this is due the next day.
Thank you
So slick I don't even know what that MEANS.
At the risk of being rude to our host, is AB3 just an AUM killer?
Sounds like weeks away, as mentioned at the top of the thread. Which means the $100 I just loaded in is going to be whittled away by my kids renting movies and HBO Now and the like....
Slick question is Slippery.
Will there be VU meters? Warm glowing backlit ones? And for the midi, will there be Nixie tubes? It’d be interesting to have a “meter bridge” approach to signal monitoring that neither treats it as an insert effect nor an output destination.
With the current Ram limitations of AUX I don't think that is possible. But with Audiobus 3 we're going to have much more control over the audio and MIDI routing of a session than ever before, which should allow us to do pretty amazing things now (i.e. background launching for IAA hosts) and in the future.
I don't think that is possible on a device that has not been rooted.
Yepp! We all know that there is one developer who refuses to add AudioBus support to their apps.
Those apps (iMPC Pro & Hook) do however accept IAA-Generators as inputs for recording samples...
I don't see why it could not be possible to use pure IAA-Generators/Instruments as 'Inputs' to AB3 without the need for the apps to include the AB3 SDK and use AB3 as IAA-Generator as soudsource for those apps that do not include 'native' AB3 support. Sure not all features would be available but still...
Short answer: no.
Long answer: While that would be theoretically possible I don't think we're going to support it, because then we'd have to deal with all of the shortcomings of Audiobus being an IAA node that has to adhere to all quirks and issues that come with being a 'pure' IAA node in third party hosts. Audiobus will show up in IAA hosts though, but its nodes will not create sound if nothing is being routed to them. And since Audiobus makes IAA hosts host it's IAA nodes (say that three times fast) those nodes will not be able to hosted twice (unless we decide to change that behaviour in a future version, which I'm not ruling out, but it's unlikely).
So... still most likely no.
Sorry!
I'm going to have to pitch this to Mike, since he's working on the mixer.
If you send me a message with more details I can tell you if/when we're going to add this.
Don't wait. Spend it immediately on things. THIS is why we need to buy apps. It's not the cup of coffee comparison, at least we get to drink the coffee, it's the chillun and the wives (this thing afflicts the polygamous as well) and their endless yawning maw who are the real enemy.
There. I said it.
I like to think of it as product development.
It's okay, I was expecting that. As long as you all understand that we need to ship this at some point and that more features always mean more support and more bugs that have to be fixed, I think there's always enough room for compromise while still making it a great platform.
Which third party apps will support all the new features of AB3 at launch?
Ok, It was just a thought
I've delete all the apps from the company/dev in question but I can't remove the AudioCopy SDKs tarnishing the apps that still remain on my iPad... (Wish I could replace it with standard iOS ShareSheet / FilePicker).
