Sweet, I know it's done when it's done so no need to ask for ETA :)

  • Just sent 1.0 to Apple for review B)

    Hallelujah!

  • Great news.

  • YES! Will be an instant buy for me - I expect to hear same Ruismaker level of quality. :)

  • Awesome brahh, can't wait!

  • Just read the manual - very exciting! The AM operators seem interesting. Is there any more info on the principles under the 42 algorithms? Also - on the CC's - #17 is listed as Algorithm, what does this CC control? Selection of the algorithms? Thanks!

  • Looks great!

  • It not only looks great, it sounds good too!

If anyone of you encounters issues when using Phasemaker with Garageband it's an issue that Apple's Garageband team is aware of and they should hopefully push out an update when it's fixed...

Other AUv3 hosts work without any notable issues.

All I can do is wish you all 'Happy Phasemaking' when it hits the AppStore :)

  • Is it out yet??????

    ...

    Try it now!

  • Awesome. I like your work @brambos, will buy asap.

  • Woot! Congrats @brambos.

Holy wow man. The demo on the site sounds incredible. And there's MIDI control over everything? Anyone want to buy my Volca FM? :)

  • This has been a ridiculously good Fall for AU.....I may have permanent goosebumps.

  • Is anyone here using an ipad air 1 with Modstep / Ruismaker? Please PM me!

I have an annoying automation bug, which basically deems my setup useless.

My only option is to buy a new ipad.

Yes, every sound parameter - including the algorithm selection - is automatable via MIDI CC and AU Parameter. Some parameters are updated on the fly, others are updated when the next tone is triggered.

The 42 algorithms are basically the 32 original algos of the DX7, plus 10 new ones (some interesting 6 operator algorithms that the DX series did not cover and a handful of 2/3/4 operator algos that will simplify sound design and CPU reduction).

CPU load should be reasonably low (considering every voice essentially has 6 independently running oscillator + AMP + EG chains). Polyphony is capped at 32 voices.

Haha.. the Volca FM was actually my benchmark box. I've done a lot of testing with it while building Phasemaker and it can be made to sound pretty good. The thing with the V_FM is that it needs effects to sound good (even if it's just a lick of reverb and some delay) because the Volca itself tends to sound a bit dry and metallic-y.

And the factory patches of the V_FM are dreadful. You really need to replace them with something good to appreciate its capabilities (and designing patches on it is a challenge to say the least).

Is there a way to export your own saved banks without need for a computer? I love programming sounds, but need the security of getting them to my google drive or Dropbox etc

For now iTunes only, so not without a computer. It can be done in a future update if there is a lot of demand for such a feature.

    Shame :/

Seems to be a trend at the moment. Synths without bank save are a nightmare. I've lost too many patches over this last year. Poison 202 is the same, begging to be programmed, but too much of a risk to spend time on.

All your patches are always there in the "Export" folder in iTunes filesharing. Just hook it up to your pc/mac - it takes 5 seconds.

I have occasional access to an old laptop running Linux. Trust me, it takes a lot longer than 5 seconds if at all :p

With the PPG apps I email my bank to myself and then save to google drive. Now that's 5 seconds ;)

Yes and yes. I haven't wiped the patches yet but have mostly replaced them with my own which were largely created through a process I'll call "physical randomizer"; I mash the prev/next buttons while adjusting the knob stopping occasionally to see if it sucks less. :) Works pretty well!

+1 on this....no iTunes intervention wanted here :)

  • no itunes available to me either... it's "open in" to A file manager or "email it to me" only.
I thought devs had already received this consensus memo :)

I think a lot of the time people seem to think it is iTunes itself we don't want, when actually it is a connection to a Mac or PC we don't have :)

Agreed - or at least a connection we don't want to be bothered with.

  • Haha ...the ball busting comences
