I've got mixed feelings about sales. Although, I'm taking advantage of them now... I have to admit I have respect for developers who never have sales. They set a fair price and stick with it. For the more pricey apps, if you look at their history and see they've been on sale a few times, it makes it hard to buy at full price. If I see an app has never been on sale, I tend to feel better about paying the full price the dev asks.

+1 I agree. even though I've bought apps from many sales in the past (although I've bought way way more at full price I'm sure). I sort of wish they never went on sale sometimes. Then I'd probably only buy the apps I want and not acquire virtually everything. Having said that I do agree with release sales since there's a lot of feedback and beta testing done by early adopters etc and this can make up for it. I think less sales might help the market stabilise too maybe?

Although from a developer perspective I expect the spike in interest from a sale can help the promotion of an app too so who knows which economics work better for them...

Although my inner appaholic self craves a music app sale of course :)

I can agree though weren't it for sales I probably never would aquired and discovered apps that I nowadays regularly use. Especially for smaller and new or unknown devs it's hard to get on the map although they have apps that are worth premium prices. I think with stable prices people tend go for the apps from established devs (like Korg or Sugar Bytes) making it hard(er) for starters to get attention.

    That's a fair point :)

Cyclop is very very cool but the GUI... everything is so small... :(

Hmmm. I tried the desktop version, and hated it. Just not the sound range I'd hoped for. Others, of course, think it's a modern marvel.

    Cheers!

Thx! looks like 20% off. Most disappointing pricecut so far. I pass for the AUFX's (from $4.99 now $3.99) that were on my wishlist. Think I'll go for some more complex ApeSoft fx.

I've got most of the Apesoft and AUFX apps. The Apesoft are good for experimental stuff, but for solid, bread and butter quality I load up Dub and Space every time. Brilliant apps.

I agree here. I would like to see no sales ever!

But sales stimulate the App Store economy. I buy lots of apps full price, yet there are some which I just don't want to take a chance on. No less than three of those (one already bought) have turned up in the BF sale at prices I am willing to gamble on. Not, I must make clear, a gamble on the quality of the apps, but on whether I will enjoy and use them enough to justify the download.

BTW, the app I already bought on sale was AniMoog. I was so pleased with it that I immediately added three IAP's. All sales that the developer would not have had otherwise. Now I'm 'in' of course, it's much more likely I'll buy more in the future and even take that chance on full price apps.

So, for zero extra outlay, (as these are not manufactured shipped goods) Black Friday pricing means that there will be lots more sales globally, and with the potential for more custom due to familiarity. Everybody wins.

O yes I can see the positives too.

  • VirtualCZ for PC is also on sale... tempting.

I would say that the ApeFilter is probably the one to get first imo. It is far more straight forward than ApeDelay and also is quite unique in what you can do with it. Yes it is in essence a type of EQ, but with its motion control it's damn good at putting some movement into different sounds. Yes, you could just use it to cut and boost frequencies, but that really is missing it's best qualities.

@sonicreef is usually responsive here so let's see... I use this app regularly and am surprised it doesn't get more love from the looping/DJ crowd.

Thanks for the info. I have iVCS so that's good to know. I do like Lucky Man! MI'm 99% sold, there's just one thing I'm wondering. My only ipad at the moment is an ipad mini 2 retina with the 64. Bit architecture. It handles all of my apps very well, just wondering if anyone can confirm Model 15s performance on this particular device. I'd like to be able to get the moog app and be fine with it now
Much appreciated your observations about Model 15

It runs perfectly on my iPad Air, so mini 2 should be just fine as well, they're pretty much the same.

It runs fine for me all by itself on Air1 but seems to have issues with other apps for me.

AUFX space is probably the one I would go for. With the AUFX not being AU compatible apps, I use them less now, even though they are all excellent. I find I often use reverb though as a single app in Auria which then gives reverb on an fx bus. Same use with AUM. I may have multiple sound sources, but tend to switch off their internal reverbs and point them at one channel with AUFX Space on it.

Very helpful advice. (I always forget this is possible in AUM.) Of course, then all of your apps are using the same flavor of reverb – maybe not a bad thing. I'm actually just sitting around hoping that that DDMF reverb AU goes on sale today.

Just remembered - I made this tracks using AUFX:Space:

This also is GuitarCapo+ for bass sound through a MIDI keyboard:

  • ROTOR at $6.99 is a steal. Well worth picking up for loop and stem building. Worth it for the key detection and time stretching alone... The modular UX is cool too.

Just bought this, and first impression are that it's not as intuitive as I'd expected, and the graphic design is a bit rough. Not really Retina. But I can see the potential, and may end up loving Rotor.

It's a pretty cool app once you get the hang of it. Lots of potential you likely haven't considered yet.

I bought at the launch price, so it's kind of irksome that they're now already even lower than launch price. But, I'm guessing they want as many units installed as possible when they finally launch those little puck thingies.

Yep, I find Space an essential app, and my go-to reverb. I use it on a bus in AUM, or load it as a bus fx in Auria and then vary the amount per channel, rather than use Auria's built in reverbs.

And nobody's really mentioned Egoist, which has been on my list for ages.
