  • Do you need those hardware knobs to use the rotate function?

  • iPolysix or vst still worth it in 2016?

  • >

Might be worth pointing out that the physical control knob shown is NOT required.

  • I'm tempted by Phasemaker instead of Phase84, but I own one iPad4 and iPhone5s and I'm afraid they aren't powerful enough.

Would someone confirm performance on 'old' devices, even for play it as standalone?

    Thanks.

Good point. I don't have the knobs (not even for sale yet) and I find it easy to control using just the touch screen. One of the nice things about the swipe across the connection lines to mute/unmute the blocks is to set the blocks adjacent to each other so you can switch quickly between two loops with one swipe.

Phasemaker works great on my 5c

Picked up Phasemaker yesterday. Works great on Air2, but it also works fine on my iPhone5. So, I dont think you'd have a problem.

You going to get those pucks? If they're reasonably priced, I think I might get a couple.

Just in case it wasnt mentioned. This was my big hope for the sales. Very happy
Audulus is so beautiful. And the price is half off.
    Audulus 3 by Audulus LLC

Are you happy with it? I'm tempted by that one.

It's showing its age a bit, but it's got a really nice sound to it so a good synth to have.

  • Not app related, but I nabbed an iPhone SE this morning, £60 off which meant I got 64gb for the price of a16gb model.

    Cheers! I'll consider it.

    ...

The Model 15 is winning me over thanks to the many Soundcloud demos...guess I'll be getting it after all.

  • Now there's an supersale from Korg Inc...

Pity that I already bought everything they have. Everything... nice stuff!

  • @skiphunt I'm thinking about those pucks for sure. Depends on price I guess.

The iPolysix, Model 15 and ODYSSEI are the richest sounding synths IMO, good for making your iPad sound like a proper thing

They're good, but I don't rate the sound quality as rich and fat as the ones I mentioned. Close thing though.

  • Just a perspective on Model15 for those who are daunted by it. To set up a particular sound, there are two elements - routing the signals via the cables, and setting the actual controls. But a synth like a Minimoog has a huge potential range of sounds and that has its signal routing fixed - so in a sense it is like Model 15 where you can't change the cables around, just adjust the controls, and yet still has that huge potential range of sounds. So if you are daunted, pick a preset sound you like and just play with the controls without re-cabling anything. You'll still get a lot out if it. And if one day you think "if only X could control Y for this patch", well you only need to put an extra cable or two in.

I only bought Model 15 the first day of the sale, but I'm really loving it so far. I played with messing with the cabling, etc, or starting from scratch, and didn't get far... so for now I'm content to just start with presets and tweak controls. The sounds I'm getting for that alone are worth the $15 just paid.

Haven't figured out how to assign the ribbon controller yet... unless it's already set up in a preset. I've also read people mentioning a built-in sequencer, but all I see is the arp sequencer. Much to explore yet.

Torn on Audulus3. I know it's way outside of my paygrade, but I'm still feeling some intrigue to try my hand at figuring some of it out. So far, I've resisted. Anyone else here a true novice like me and able to wrap your head around Audulus? It looks pretty daunting.

  • Does anybody know for sure if the iap for Model 15 and Animoog are on sale or at their regular prices?

Zmors Modular is also on sale $4.99. Different price league but ver interesting if you are getting into modular things :)

  • In a funny kinda way a modular synth is actually a little easier to learn than a standard synth - because the patching forces you to think about and understand what each part of the synth does. Before I got Model 15 I just used to blindly twiddle the knobs, but then with the modular synth I actually had to grok what an oscillator was, what it does, and how to route it to the amp and filter etc and how to modulate the signal and why. Everything fell into place much better and more quickly than when I used to blindly fiddle around.

    Thanks.

Phase84 is a relatively old app and it runs perfectly on my old 1st Gen Mini.

I'm hoping @retronyms will give it some more love considering the Digits VST which it's based on got an update a few months ago :) (AUv3 pretty please).

And well, I found an oldish Podcast where the developer demos it using Renoise! That's r-e-s-p-e-c-t BIG time!

Hosted by C64 legend Chris Huelsbeck and awesome live-looper Amy Lee :D

  • @skiphunt From the manual:

"To use the Ribbon as a basic controller in a preset, simply create a patch cable at the MAIN RIBBON output in the CONTROLLER OUTPUTS section and connect it to the Control input of any module. The most common are the Frequency input of the 921A and the Control Inputs on the 904A."

Might be a good idea to go via an attenuator though.

DRC is close to the best 'analog' sound iOS has to offer in my opinion.

Korg Odyssei App cheaper after November 30? If Korg what they do > @u0421793 said:

    @mannix said:
… Probably we'll also see a 24 hours discount of Korg Odyssei. pricetag probably 14.99

    Hasn't happened, though.

Oh well, by way of compensation, here's Brian Eno and Snatch - RAF

If Korg do what they promise Odyssei App will be 14.99 until November 30. There's now an intro price until the 30th of 19.99( normal price 29.99). Korg promises all apps 50% until 5 Jan 2017. So if they will put it back to the original price of 29.99 and 50% of this will be 14.99. Of course they won't do this, but if you look at the logic they present they should :)

  • edited November 2016

I'm getting this disappointing feeling that Korg's app sale which starts from today until January 5 means that there will be no iWavestation release later in the year and instead will be put on hold until 2017. I was kind of hoping that Korg would of released the iWavestation as part of the holiday sales promo but it doesn't seem to be the case. :(
