So RP-1 and RF-1 are quality sounding FX apps?
    I can't find any videos.
Have we already gone through everyone's "favorite delay and reverb apps"?
    I really don't want 10 of each.

I like them and also because they are AU. They have audio samples on their website that will give you an idea of how they sound.

  • ah thanks @studioAB
I'm getting a bit panicked at the end of BLACK FRIDAY!!! worried I'm not going to get the best my (limited amount of) money can buy.

I hear you. The sales are good. I think every app that will be discounted for Black Friday are out. There will be other sales down the line for some at least a couple times a year. For example, I bought all the Korg stuff last July and they are on sale again now.

If it makes you feel any better, it's pretty unlikely any of these deals are once in a lifetime...once in a year, maybe.

    My opinion? Lorentz. Growly resonance.

A great tool is AppShopper, it shows the history or price changes on an app and you can kinda suss out from the past sales patterns when the next one will be. I notice like right now for Black Friday, sometimes Christmas and early Summer/4th are the big sale windows. Although some are just all over the place. I think someone mentioned how Positive Grid is very out if the blue with sales. Seems Final Touch is always on sale.

Yeah I'll be fine. Exaggerated a bit there but it's hard not to get caught up in the buying frenzy.

It is strange, but not an isolated case. Most of the Klevvgard apps, for example, have few if any reviews and not that many demos. They're still great. RP-1 and RF-1 are the best at what they do for IOS, IMHO.

Thanks. I found this thread from earlier in the year and couldn't make sense of it.

I'll go with Lorentz. I like the name better plus no snowflake on the icon.

I haven't got the other one, but Lorentz is a great, versatile little synth, and the delay modulation is a nice touch.

  • The amazing noises/apesoft apps look so beautiful.

    All three are great imho.

  • Any rumblings of SoftDrummer, FunkDrummer sales guys? Anyone hear anything?

Don't forget your Synthmaster Love. Packs are 40% off atm. The new factory 2.8 presets pack is just $2.99 for 150 presets, which makes a lot of sense if you want a taste of the new synth engine (considering it is a preset player). And also Big Tone Analog Basics is very good indeed IMHO.

  • Just noticed FingerFiddle on TheSoundTestRoom channel.
What an amazing sounding violin ! Recent,y been watching Hannibal the tv show and the soundscapes in that show are full of violin. Amazing sound on that show.

A good price for the app however IAPs aren't a touch pricey for me. I wonder if developer intends to discount at any point...

i just topped off all my isymphonic IAPs, except for the new piano.

I'm interested to buy a few new packs for iSymphonic but there are quite a few out now which have never been reviewed or demo'do on YouTube or anywhere which makes it bit hard to decide!!

  • how long is model 15 on sale?

  • I used to be a synth junkie. Now I'm an FX junkie. I was a few other types of junkie in between as well, but this is where I'm at now.

  • FYI
Arturia Spark 2 Desktop is half price £62 @
    http://www.pluginboutique.com/product/1-Instruments/7-Drum-Machine/910-Spark-2

May be of interest to iSpark users , if only for the additional kits to transfer over ( iSpark Store kits = £51 IAP ) Also, who knows if IOS modular GUI promise will be honoured now , so this would allow build instrument in desktop & transfer to ipad for use .

I tested the spark2 recently and wasnt impressed with its sounds, even tho its hyped quite a bit. Also really many sounds had a nasty click in the beginning, you would guess if they actually went so much trouble making the "awesome" tones, they would had adjusted the attack properly..

It's a rabbit hole. Distributing similar variations across packs means I've eventually bought them all.I'm well pleased, but it was a long, sales + iTunes card discounts road getting there.

You can get all the main Sound Packs (Miroslav 1, Sonik Synth, Sample Moog, and The Grid) for a total of $19.95

Can anyone confirm this price? I have an old version of SampleTank installed and would rather not reinstall it if I don't have to.

The way SampleTank (now called SampleTank 2) presents its IAPs is very confusing, to say the least. This has to do with the way they have rolled out the product over time. I think they could do a better job clarifying things.
First, there is a version that is always free. It has 16 instruments.
There is an upgrade for $19.99 that gives you 145 instruments - It's currently $9.99

Then, there were the initial Sound Packs. Although these are really old news, they are the only IAPs that are currently listed in the Apple Store.

All the things you see here normally cost twice as much. Except when they are 30% off or 40% off which is very often.

"All Sound Packs" used to meant that you can get EVERYTHING you see here for $19.99 EXCEPT for SampleTank PRO. I don't think that they are being deliberately deceptive, just careless, as when this price break was put up, it was all the extra sound packs in the store. On the other hand, because it SampleTank PRO makes it inaccurate, perhaps @IK_Multimedia @ikmultimedia could confirm whether this deal still stands.

Also, IK doesn't mention that packs 7, 8, 9 and 10 are all included in Sonik Synth. Also, they don't correspond to what I see in the app. I see 5 Sonik Packs: Electronic, Keyboards, Guitar and Bass, Drums and Percussion, and Orchestral. So if you buy any of these first you will waste your money.

I think if you want to make symphonic music on your iOS device and are on a budget then the first Miroslav Philharmonik, with 100 instruments, was a total steal at $19.99. If you spend four times that on iSymphonic IAPs you may have better sounds, but it offers no articulation variations on solo instruments. They do not sell even one solo violin, viola, or contrabass sound--just a solo cello. Compare this to Miroslav where there is Violin Pizzicato, Staccato, Trem, Trills, and much more. Miroslav gives you pretty much every instrument in the orchestra, plus many combinations and articulations. Also, the layering aspect of the app allows numerous options for setting up savable templates. where different instruments can be paired to either play together on the same MIDI channel or be run separately by something like Navichord or Fugue Machine.

I like the Sonik sounds better than a lot of the original SampleTank sounds, so I tended to use them more. In terms of Sample Moog - whereas there are many terrific emulations of Moog instruments available, this is essentially a greatest hits of many instruments that they built, ranging from the usual MiniMoog Model D to Polymoog, Taurus, Source, Rogue, Prodigy, Voyager, Little Phatty. etc. It's different from anything else that's available in iOS. It's lesser because it isn't a synth, just a rompler, but still useful because it has so many fun sounds, and when SampleTank 2 added MIDI learn to the app for the first time, it became exponentially better.

I probably would have bought SampleTank PRO during this sale, but I am spending money on the PC these days . Doug at @thesoundtestroom has done a nice video on the sounds.

Again, if you don't want to pay $19.99 for Sampletank PRO, IK will kindly let you have the option of buying five parts of it--Classic Keys, Synth Collection, Drums and Loops, Bass,Ethnic & Voices, for $3.99 each This is a square deal because you don't lose any money by only buying what you want. If you've watched Doug's video, then you know the voices are cool.

The new Miroslav 2 would have been an insta-buy for me even at $49.99 if I wasn't buying my orchestral libraries and instruments as Kontakt instruments these days. It is 2.27 GB and has 140 instruments

    http://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/sampletankios/index.php?pp=sampletankios-versions#soundcollections

If you look at it, you will see that there isn't much overlap between it and the i

Again, if you don't want to spend $49.99 on the full thing, IK will allow you to buy Brass ($24.99), Woodwinds ($24.99), Chromatic ($14.99), and Piano ($14.99) separately. As with the original packs, they don't say anywhere that all these packs are included in the larger pack for $49.99. In this case, you lose a ton of money if you are unclear that those packs are not supplemental and you buy them first.

The other sound packs for SampleTank 2 are American Accoustic, Alan Parsons Imperial Grand, Billy Cobham Drums, Future Synth, Elektronika, Cinematic Percussion, and Orchestral Percussion.
    http://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/sampletankios/index.php?pp=sampletankios-versions#soundcollections

Finally, there are a lot of SampleTank sounds you cannot get unless you purchase and register an iRig MIDI 2, iRig PRO or iRig KEYS.

    Make sense?

This has ended up as a very long post. I'm thinking of reposting it, as possibly others will be interested.
