As the thread is now a Switch / Gadget tread... I just want say 'Thanks so much for the Switch and Zelda BotW Nintendo... It is so gooooood, I almost forgot that I was waiting for a delayed korg Gadget update'... Seriously guys, it's that good, probably the best gaming experience I had in the past decade...

We're still waiting for our Switch.... They claim it was delivered last friday, but it wasn't, so now it's going to be at least another ten days while Nintendo "investigate" their fuck-up....

Are you sure one of your neighbours isn't sitting there playing and sniggering profusely ? Who do they use for shipping ? You may be able to speed things up by contacting them yourself..

EDIT ... A lot of customers with the same problem....looks like some have been shipped via Royal Mail and not next day courier delivery, so they are arriving today/tomorrow....Hopefully yours is one of these...did you get any confirmation of shipping emails ?

Yes I got the confirmation of shipping email last thursday, but the console never turned up. The neighbours are denying all knowledge, so it's clearly a cock-up by the courier company and it will take a while to get things cleared up, which unfortunately is hugely disappointing for my kids, who were dead excited about getting it last friday...

No, it's a bit more complicated than that. Nintendo initially sent me a Royal Mail tracking number, but it never worked. When I chased the order on monday they said it had in fact been delivered by Hermes, and apparently someone had signed for it. It clearly went to the wrong address, so it's more than just a launch day delay, it's a proper fuck-up...

If I was you I would be very very angry (I was excited as your kids last friday lol)... And I would not let it go that easy, I would obtain a refund or a new console + part refund from Nintendo... YOU are the customer man, they must find a fast solution and a fix for your kids frustration... You deserve it and have the right to ask for it
PS : ask for a refund immediatly (they cannot say no as you have 14 days after an internet buy to ask for a refund) and go buy a Switch in store (if it is the same as in France, you should be able to find some on shelves by now)...

  • @ElGregoLoco well I was pretty angry on the phone to Nintendo, and if I could easily buy another Switch somewhere I would have cancelled the order, but it's out of stock pretty much everywhere now so I'm probably best off waiting for this situation to get resolved. It really sucks for the kids, but it's out of my hands really.

Can't speak for the Wii U - but the switch is really cool, Playing the game with the missus.....she hates all the crafting bits and gets bored.....she likes to watch soaps....
We play for a bit, she puts a soap on, I grab the switch and play handheld mode doing the crafting....soap finishes, put switch back in the cradle and were both off adventuring again on the tv......it really does work rather well :)

Right... The old... switcheroo.. Heh. That does sound tempting. I used to always be behind a generation when it came to consoles (nice and cheap that way with people practicaly giving games away, But... Tempted)

  • To get back on the Gadget hype train: what are the chances the late march release was a conservative, worst case scenario estimate and it may just pop up before then?

Unlikely. When Korg sets a date, it sticks.

But what does "late March" even mean? That ain't how ya set a date, much less one that sticks. That's how ya lay the groundwork for weaseling out of a commitment.
