Crystalline is a good one. I like it!
I mostly layer iOS reverbs. My favorite combo so far is Audio Reverb goes into AUFX:Space....but yeah i miss that what i would call "immersive cinematic like" space. It is not impossible to get close to it but it´s so easy with 1-2 plug-ins and it´s hard to avoid very muddy sound and details get lost fast if the algorithms are not so good.
I must say i´m a reverb addict (and delay with special FX) so i judge that very harsh.
AUM is a good recommendation. So i could use it also to use FX in parallel mode not only serial per lane like in Audiobus?
Something like Patch Work for iOS?
Three way tie between Moebius, ApeFilter, and AltiSpace
Solid advice & inspiration - thank you
If Auria wasn't my go to DAW I can see myself rolling my eyes when the greatness of the FabFilter plugs are mentioned so much. I hope the cynical 'other me' however would actually try the FabFilter plug ins before putting something else above them.
The FabFilter plugs are peerless. They have the same algorithm & technology that the desktop has, cost is the only difference. They are so good that even if you don't like Auria's interface it's worth buying Auria Pro, buying the FF plugs, importing audio from your chosen DAW, printing the FF effect and then exporting it back out to your DAW. Pain in the ass yes, but totally reasonable upon hearing these FF effects.
The AUFX collection is quite good and the DDMF Envelope reverb is really nice as well. The AltiSpace Convolution Reverb is awesome IF you use quality impulse responses. Using a good Lexicon reverb IR can be eerily close to using the hardware unit.
There are some turds but iOS producers have tons of great IAA, AB & more and more AU effects to chose from.
Funnily enough I've never run reverb and dub together- I'll try this tonight, thanks captain.
I wonder how long Fabfilter will remain exclusive to Auria? They could be missing a big chunk of the market.
You can always buy the very low cost Auria LE just to be able to use the FabFilter FX plug-ins.
But obviously, great would be Auria as universal app. A large chunk of the iOS music market uses the iPhone mainly/only.
I posted this query on the FabFilter website forum, along with a few other people, a couple of months ago, making that exact argument. They did reply:
"We don't have an exclusive deal for Auria; it's just that developing stand-alone plug-ins for iOS is a significant amount of work so we're still undecided on that. We have a lot of work to do on other stuff as well! :-)"
I LOVE the distortions in WOW. My favs in iOS by far. I use it just for distortion most of the time!
Hmm, mega fail. All lovely, with Nave (triggered by ChordFlow) running through dub and reverb via AUM, but trying to add VCS3 ended up in the dreaded drone/fail noise, and no matter what order I loaded/booted them up in, I got a horrible noise as a result.
Could do that with a bus send and the stereo balance node, I believe.
Update: took me half an hour to suss out, but loading iVCS3 into AUM first cured the fail.
Ah, of course. Thanks!
I want to hear the results!!
Not sure I own enough reverb apps but I'll investigate.

Since we're talking about reverbs I'll just add that Blamsoft's Zero Reverb may be my favourite sounding Reverb on the system.
AUFX Space has much more nuance and I'd usually use that for vocals, but Zero Reverb sounds phenomenally good on almost anything.
Another vote for the filters that are fab (modulation central).
Turnado is fun too.
Apesoft/Amazing Noises stuff.
I really dig the blamsoft reverb. Do u also have any of the other blamsoft fx? I am considering the filter and the chorus
I highly recommend the F-16 Filter.
I prefer it to...um...um...Filtatron.
I have all of them. All amazing
Sure. Make your instrument/source channel output to a bus. Create two other channels that receives on this bus. On each of these two, add a "Stereo to Mono" node and select 100% L on one and 100% R on the other.
Now add whatever insert effects or sends you want on these two channels..
Yes, any combination is possible in AUM.
No
Completely subjective unless speaking on specific app interactions I would think.
My opinion changes day to day on effects anyway!
Depends on the level of treble fatigue I have at the moment as well.
I have to admit- Turnado kind of "hollowed-out" whatever I put thru it.
It's amazing how a mix usually improves by thinning out the treble.
It's fantastic as an effects send though, to build up some mind blowing background textures.
It is but none of its individual effects are really stand out. The point is to use the effects en masse and modulate stuff. CPUs being what they are, it makes sense to me that they'd over optimize the individual algorithms so that you can run 8 at once with modulation and user interaction changing params smoothly.
