  • i think i still prefer modstep for pure midi sequencing. but the morph cells are fantastic for doing automation. so its definitely gonna see tons of use :D modstep faithfully records it all in the signal path so its all cool.

  • Since we are using machines that cost hundreds of dollars.....................WTF is $20?

  • @Alex fox Could we get custom modulator shapes in a future update ? its such a fantastic tool for doing modulation but would love to be able to do my own curves etc.

That would be pretty cool. How much control do you reckon you need?

As much as you can give me :D the fact that we can set a start value and an end value with numbers is already more control than most iOS daws give while drawing the automation. Drawing our own shapes would make it my main goto when recording it into gadget or modstep. Just make sure we can draw curves and I'd be happy :) sort of how ableton does curved automation. Draw points for sharp automation. And then alt click+drag to curve it between those 2 points.

Drawing an automation loop on a forthcoming xy pad would be nice.

Xy Pad automation recording of selected parameters. Drawing curves is lame imo. You can choose x and you can choose y and go. Then choose another x and another y and go again. the touch screen is basically an xy pad itself. But you guys are on it. I trust you

There's no harm in doing both. Some of us like drawing curves. Would love to be able to also make the modulator go much faster than the base tempo. Like 10-20x the tempo.

  • On a similar note, that might work for everyone. Drawable automation! After all modulation is just automation. It would be nice to draw cc automation like notes and this could be used for modulation, maybe! My favorite cc drawing was definitely promidi, a beautiful automation drawer, awful memory for midi configs but a lovely automation drawer.

I found a bit of a problem. If you have a midi channel pointing to something like a drum app, then decide to change the global tuning to a different key, all drum parts are thrown off and have to be re-adjusted. There needs to some way to exclude certain channels from key changes.

  • KRFT is awesome, really powerful and well thought out. I'd love to see a couple of enhancements to scale/key functionality:

    1. More scales, and the ability to make custom scales. (See Ribbons for a great implementation of this)
    2. Ability to automate master key and scale via morph or knob
    3. Along the lines of what wim said above: option to exclude a MIDI channel from global tuning changes
    4. MIDI input for keyboard entry :)

Thank you so much for this app. Custom loop lengths and the fill concept/behavior options are exactly what I've been looking for.

@Alex fox would love to be able to send cc the same way the internal synths do. Drawing notes and the velocity of the notes controlling cc etc. You already implemented it for the internal synths. Shouldn't be too hard to make it so we can send cc that way. Just let us pick the cc value instead of "filter" "pan" etc...

More scales would be nice. In the current implementation I'm not sure we could do a dial that changed the scale, perhaps the master key. Might require a bit of a re write (KRFT 2.0)

Glad you're enjoying the fill concept! Make sure you watch the vids for a full explanation!

Are you talking just about velocity? You can use dials and morphs to send CC automation already!

  • @Alex fox My main kraft wish feature is a way to loop and overdub one midi loop until it's just right (like ableton and modstep). Then I'd love to switch back into the current record mode to do longer variations.

You mean you'd like to set a fixed loop length before you record ?

@Alex fox i know. but the midi clips sending cc values lets you send specific values per step. this lets you do interesting shapes for automation. far more than the current shapes included in the morphs. you can even mimic elektrons Parameter locks this way.

this would make it so much easier to do amazing effects when controlling external apps. I really hope you guys will give us this ability :) would be much more interested in this than just drawing shapes for the morphs.

I use J74's steplocker a lot to do stuff like this in ableton. so was kind of surprised you already had the functionality for the internal synths.

Why am I not surprised? You guys are the best!

I settled on setting the key to c major and turning on chromatic mode to transpose the old school way. ;) That's a little tricky though with 8 pads per row and 12 notes per octave. It would be nice if the keypads could shift to 12 notes per line in chromatic mode. Just a thought.

A select tool and transpose in matrix would be good.

Just a thought, after you change the master pitch could you just re adjust the drum midi channel by changing the pitch offset?

Alternatively we could add a CC mode in the Matrix where you could add additional notes which were just CC messages, then you could have multiple - one number per row. I think that would be more powerful ultimately!
