Yes, check the middle of Page 11 for screenshots on how to set it up... :)

  • I remember disabling it that let me check.

So it should be as follows?

@brambos I had BassLine receiving midi from Navichord and I heard it change chords as Navichord’s chord progressions played but now it won’t change it stays in what ever I originally generated in BassLine. Any ideas?

Have you changed the settings and disabled "transpose using MIDI"?

"I will restart my machine and wait 5 seconds thanks for the help Brambos support"

    LOL

  • Im relieved that I hadn't fully programmed my Nanokontrol/Nanokey Stufios before getting Odessa, having just realised you can MIDI trigger select the patterns! Can the notes for this be remapped, like to CCs rather than notes?

Thank you, I remember reading it worked....off to give it a go!

  • @brambos Is 'accent' planned for the Odessa X0X?(Instinctively I double-tapped on a step to check this).

I also get strange 'pan scrolling' issues with the Odessa Arpeggio Plug-In?!

If I 'flick-scroll' up I can hide all the arpeggio controls and bring them back with a 'flick-scroll' down :)
Note-repeat for the arpeggiator is also something I'd love to see at some point.

A simple step-sequencer (mono & poly) similar to the one in Zeeon or midiSTEPs is something I think many would love too.

Over all I'm impressed by the package and the 'plug-ins' will be real time-killers :D

    Thanks for making them!

Yeah it’s a bit of a loose cannon that one, but got it working.

Just had a jam with the rhythm AU driving ElasticDrums, Axon and iElectribe (!), and the bass sequencer triggering Addictive Pro.

This is exactly how I like to use the iPad these days - live jams in AUM, and this has given my workflow a massive boost. In particular being able to sequence the different parts in each one.

    Brilliant.

Anything by Skrillex is considered brostep, among a few others. It's basically like dubstep, but the wobbles are less "bass" and more "scream". If that makes sense :D

    Except dubstep was good.

You know what would be absolutely freakin' brilliant? Imagine if you could transmit MIDI PC messages from hardware (like the Nano series) to load AUM presets/sessions without having to look at your iOS device? With the ability to trigger the different patterns in Odessa, you'd basically never have to look at the screen in a live situation... @j_liljedahl any chance you've considered this?

Yes me too, Live jam or sequence into AUM. It's great to be able to recall it all in AUM on reload so I'm trying to stick with all AUs :)

I was disappointed that Axon2’s midi out didn’t work, as you were/are, but now with Odessa to drive it... it’s totally worth having now IMO :)

Yeah...I’m still a bit disappointed with the sound, but it compliments other drum apps nicely. Trying to work out how to trigger SeekBeats now.

Bit of a game changer, this Brambos stuff...

One of first responses after I initially figured it out was “People seem to toss that ‘game changer’ term free as Halloween candy for just about any app that’s even marginally different. But, this Odessa beast truly deserves that title.”

I think I also included a few joyous and exuberant expletives within that response too. ;)

  • I picked up Axon2 last Friday and I like it more for tonal/melodic stuff than for drums. But it is an absolute BLAST to play with, and I love that Bram included a pre-set MIDI map for it.

I had a quick 7 minute session with Ruismaker FM, Zeeon, Axon2, and mood and it was gloriously simple. So worth the wait.

Now - how can I combine the Odessa sequencers with Xequence and Quantum?

Yeah, and it fits snugly into AUM - which is my go to music making platform these days.

I’m a bit gobsmacked it’s triggering iElectribe - I didn’t think that could be done.

Working perfectly for me, really easy to setup, and no glitches when I muck about with the iElectribe presets. Thumbjam worked lovely too.

Sorry to ask again if it’s alread been covered, but is it possible to trigger SeekBeats? When I load SB in AUM I don’t have the MIDI routing on the left (which would be a SB issue not your app), does SB support a MIDI in?

Any other apps you need testing? I can try them out if I have them.

Already on my TODO list, but the implementation details has not matured yet. One idea is to have a table that maps program change numbers to AUM session files.

Yes Seekbeats works, but you need to enable "Virtual in" in SB. Then route the Odessa part to SB port in AUM matrix. (it shows up after enabling in SB settings).

although it didn't work with the SB mappings in Odessa for me but worked with the other ones I tried.

Don't know about seekbeats, but some apps don't support direct IAA-MIDI from the host but rely on CoreMIDI Virtual endpoints instead. In that case, you'll find it in the MIDI matrix in AUM, but it won't know that some particular endpoint belongs to some particular IAA node. (I could make AUM try to guess by looking at the names, but why bother when there's real IAA-MIDI...)

  • Just had my first major crash. :(
Sounded like midi issue though. Gonna Test some more.

Yeah a lot of apps seem to have their own way of doing things, thankfully AUM and Odessa seem to have all the options covered.

It could probably be put as a new subpage under the MIDI Control page in the main menu. The subpage would have a toggle for "Receive program change on/off" and a list of program number 0-127, where tapping on one row lets you choose a session file for that slot.
