@Chaztrip not directly, but just adding a dummy instrument, naming it "Markers" and then drawing named parts into its track is quite a workable alternative:

(This also enables you to loop any section with two taps by tapping its "marker" and then "Loop to selection"...)

That trick also works quite well for making a custom metronome track :)

For a metronome track, I would recommend just making a single one-bar part at the beginning, setting it to "Loop on", and then add the metronome ticks in there... that way you can always come back to edit your "metronome" and it will work for the entire length of the song...

  • @SevenSystems You are brilliant!!!! Heck I’d expect that next update this week then. 😬😁

    That's clever!!

  • @Chaztrip @Audiojunkie :innocent: of course a real marker track would be even better... as always I'll see if I can cook something up when / if time allows.

Making excellent progress :) (gotta keep the croud entertained!)

Dug into AudioBus earlier... did not know it was that powerful... Excellent.

So, when will Xequence for AB be available for public consumption... looks like a match made in iPad heaven..

  • @RajahP we're already in private Beta :)

Great... I guess that means it will be ready soon... o:)

    Thanks.

  • @SevenSystems Is there any ETA on Xequence recording different channels to different tracks?

  • And could you share your Sunvox file?
BTW, Xequence driving Sunvox via AUM sometimes get stuck notes
But Xequence directly talking to Sunvox goes fine. Not sure if it's something you and/or @NightRadio and/or @j_liljedahl should know

Trying to replicate the issue to find otu what's going on

  • @senhorlampada I might include the project as a demo project with one of the next Xequence updates, obviously I'll include the Sunvox file then as well... but I will strip out the mastering section, as I think it's worth approx. $1500 ;)(I've exactly replicated my old TC Finalizer Express and I swear it sounds EXACTLY the same! :) ;) :innocent: )

If the stuck MIDI notes only occur through AUM, then it's almost definitely not a Xequence bug, so you might want to talk to the other devs... the MIDI implementation in Sunvox is somewhat limited in that it cannot handle more than 16 MIDI events at the same time, so that might also affect you too (it is affecting me in that project above, that's why I'm currently not getting on with it :( ) @NightRadio has promised a fixed though! :)

ETA on recording different channels to different tracks: I have it on my plate. But after the Audiobus update is out, I first need a few months of vacation ;)

I hear that you can get a lot of coding done while on vacation. It frees your mind up. 😁

    Yummy

Gonna do! Will experiment a bit further to try different scenarios

If you might add a program change for each markers,(with first number to "reach" the marker, 2nd to set looping or not the section by default ? ) to make the jump to any section, maybe based on the last cycle of Link before going to it (to stay in sync ?) that would make a good live solution to me...
Maybe a kind of "buffered" PC or CC (or even midi notes ?? :) ) by adding some parameters into Xequence, on this dedicated midi channel, like this:
    1.On receive activate immediately
2.On receive jump at the end of last Link cycle
3.On receive jump at the end of looping
4.On receive jump after X (where you could set the number) bars.

Can you activate/deactivate looping by midi ? Like this you might also activate/deactivate looping on the fly.

Can Xequence be midi clock slaved ?

Could you allow a midi controllable assignation start/stop ?

    Could you allow MMC start/stop...?

    Thanks :)

  • @crony, I just replied to your email :) But for the others: Live use is not something that Xequence has been designed for as it has a buffered MIDI engine and any abrupt changes in the MIDI stream are not easily implemented (however that's also why Xequence has incredibly tight and solid timing).

  • @SevenSystems Took the pluge yesterday and brought the IAP on tracks and CC. When I first got this app last year found the GUI a bit fiddly to say the least. So glad I revisited now as it looks like it come on leaps and bounds and can understand the excitement about it now on the forum. Thanks Mitch producing some excellent videos in how to use it. Looking forward to AudioBus support and what that brings with AB state saving of other apps in the chain which will help save projects and time setting up. Great work hope you can get a well deserved vacation.

  • Just tried recording midi in to Xequence using Gestrument Pro using the cursor automations works a treat. Gonna have fun with these 2.

  • Also midi out to SpaceCraft works great with the up and coming feature and 11 by 12 melodic grid.

  • @Jumpercollins glad to see it has clicked with you now :) Yes, Mitch's videos are a great hands-on resource. There should probably also be an App Store Preview video of sorts so people can "feel" the workflow before buying the app.

The vacation is probably well-deserved, if not really paid for 😂

And I love tight midi timing, certainly a big reason why I use this great app.

  • I didn't hit the wall of the drum mapping yet, but i'll bet i'll need the CC one once I reintegrate my hardware grooveboxes and samplers to my workflow :dizzy:

But the unlimited track one is instabuy for everyone  and the polyhymnia IAP is a welcome addition f

Midi import fixed with update.... Thanks...

  • I have a feature request. I know you have a wishlist that is long.

It would be great if one were able to record a track of events (notes or sustain pedal, for example) and use those events as if they define where the beats are. I used to use a desktop sequencer that could do this. It was especially nice for allowing one to play "free" and expressive without a click and later "regularize it" for transcription or use in a track that needs to tight synchrony.

@espiegel123 very interesting request, thanks for the input... it would be technically a quite demanding task though, as Xequence assumes a totally fixed grid with a strict mathematical relationship between time and beat time (that's also the reason why there's no tempo and time sig track on the cards right now.)

But if tempo / time sig tracks ever arrive, this would be much easier to accomplish, so I'll keep it in mind.

@SevenSystems The contrast enhancements are not yet included, right?

    I hope so :D

If they are, I still cannot see nothing

They aren't, unfortunately... hold on for a few days!

    What about the 'metronome'?!

It can be either 'Always on' (enabled in the tempo menu) and 'Always during Count-in'
    What about a 3rd option 'Always During Recording'(Including Count-in)?

It's no biggie since I draw the notes/events most of the time but for those rare cases when I try to play something I'd love to have the metronome turned on while recording.

Oh yeah, that sounds reasonable. Adding it to the list (as always) :)
