Did you try recording with Audiobus?
Samplr in output slot. Working here. Agree about import being best though.
Just checked in 9.3.2 Settings: SamplR has an entry for microphone access yes/no.
Apple probably changed the method at some point in time when 'hidden listening' to the user became an increasingly popular feature with trojan-like apps.
Recording with mic working fine for me on my Air 2, 12.1.1 and can see the settings.
iOS version 12.1.4 , iPad Pro 9.7”
Mic input on. What you see on the pic is my voice recorded via external mic.
@zhoe ok thanks Iam on 12.1.1 maybe thats the issue
That strange as Iam on the same exact ipad & iOs . Will re install
@MonzoPro can you see the mic settings in ipad/General/Setings?
@MonzoPro I can see the finger movement after recording but no sound. Are there Samplr settings in the app?
Yeah, Samplr options are in the general settings section.
Probably a silly question, but are you pressing the top red recording button? The one in the middle is for recording automation.
Installed Samplr on my own iPad Pro 12.9" Gen 2 2017 and my wife's iPad Pro 10.5" Gen 2 2017. Both IOS version 12.1.4.
No mic settings in ipad/General/Setings, and no mic recording, no sound
Strange. Is this just happening with new installs? Samplr’s been on my iPad for four years, maybe later versions of iOS aren’t picking up the settings.
I can not get a connection to the mic or a USB mic. In the Settings app under Privacy/Microphone there is a list of internal mic access for all of the apps and Samplr isn’t an option. When you try to record from the internal mic, a file with no sound is created. Running iOS 12.1.4 on an iPad Air 2.
Putting Samplr in the output slot of Audiobus allows you to route audio from the internal mic as @Carnbot posted earlier.
@MonzoPro yes mate but still nothing
In the main Settings panel, there's a list of installed apps. Click the Samplr entry and the mic settings should be in there.
All this talk about iPad Pro microphone, I noticed on the new Chameleon Sampler app from 4Pockets if you select input then mic it lists 3 in my iPad Pro 9.7 (2016), Right,Back,Front.
Maybe Samplr is set up for the wrong one on the Pro as they don’t all work when selected in Chameleon Sampler ? Just a thought.
No, it is not in the list of installed apps
Thank you for the assistance. Is this where I should be looking?

On my iPad Mini 2 also running iOS 12.1.4 and with no mic access, the Samplr app doesn’t even show up in the Settings app.
anyone else remember ios music creation pre Audioshare ??? hahahaha, we were all fumbling away in the dark amidst a slowly growing pool of sandboxed apps just waiting for a little interconnectivity.
SamplR pretty much needs Audioshare as an external audio editor. My best case use has always involved the same process asTelefunky's. Once you've got a few nifty bits of audio to drop in, you'll be off & running. I've done a number of entire gigs with SamplR running just 3 or 4 slots, imho one of its main strengths has always lain in its ability to get a lot of highly variable results from a single sound clip.
Very strange Samplr is not showing in Settings at all now. It was before. Weird thing is its showing in ipad storage. Its also not showing in privacy/microphone. Goodbye Samplr I do not like what I have “sampled” Nothing
On my iPad 2 running iOS 9.3.5 and still Samplr 1.3.1, I do get a request to access the mic, it does appear in the list of apps with mic access, and it does have a setting for the Samplr app itself to turn mic access off/on. It does record from the internal mic. It seems there has been a change in iOS that has prevented Samplr from being able to access the mic.
Hmmm...that's the right location, but looking at that screengrab you're missing the Microphone option I see on mine, with a slide button to enable access. How strange. I'm on an Air 2 12.1.1
That's really weird - you're on the same device and iOS that I have. Very odd.
In any case, it is easy enough to record elsewhere and send the result to Samplr (my pref anyway since Samplr doesn't let you trim recorded audio).
Here's what mic access looks like on the iPad 2

Samplr related. Interesting example of an Apple employee and they’re experience creating apps outside of work: http://jens.mooseyard.com/1997/04/13/they-made-me-an-offer-i-couldnt-refuse/?fbclid=IwAR3dgLNo5EHczkjiCP_Khis62rrYlkavAb2qcjPwhS67hkKExVYG63Os5L8
thanks... so why don't we all commission John from Berkeley to find out for us if Samplr was exempt or not and if it will at the very least ever get panning?

I suspect that limited hours in the day are more likely to be the reason there hasn't been at least a minor update than Apple not letting him.
Marcos doesn’t respond to visitors post to the Samplr Facebook page. https://m.facebook.com/nt/screen/?path=page/posts&params={"page_id":355030581185029,"post_type_filter":2,"title":"Visitor Posts"}
But he still sees them
It can be helpful to contact a dev even when they don't respond.
Seems like an update is coming:
