    @waterdrop - thank you!
It should be relatively straight forward - just import the sounds through iTunes filesharing, the Files app in iOS or even "Open in". I have mostly used sf2 files, and I'm not sure if there is a difference between sf2 and sfz files that make a difference, I will let Jonas answer that.

When i import .sfz in the Files, gestrument pro folder , nothing in the app.
and i can't find gestrument pro in variants "open in" .
Maybe something wrong with sfz, I'm gonna try convert to sf2.

Gestrument Pro supports only sf2, not sfz.

Ok so to import sf2 files...am I correct in assuming that copy and paste in Files app will work..ie from source folder eg Dropbox into Gestrument pro folder? Then they will appear in Gestrument pro ?
I dont think I have any sf2 files..they are all in wave format..sf2 seems like some relic from 1999 to me..are these a more compressed size format or something?

  • ok scratch that..Audioshare to the rescue..unzip and open in Audioshare then save to Files-Gestrument pro folder and there it is in User sounds..Easy as..

  • if you have problem with sf2 files, use Awave studio. Rea;ly good converter multitool.

Ok... I guess I missed the update for Gestrument legacy.. and now it’s hanging on the App Store.. do I need to delete it or what?

This item is no longer available...

  • @RajahP - the update for Gestrument didn't include anything apart from a pop-up that promoted Gestrument Pro, so you don't need to get it. But I'm surprised it doesn't work to upgrade just because we have stopped selling it - AppStore works in very strange ways sometimes...

This is what happens when I hit update...

  • Strange! Well - as I said, you don't really need to update since the only new thing is the pop-up;-)

It’s just annoying to have this happening..... guess I will just delete it...
Thanks, have a great New Year...

  • Whatever happened to Gestrument Pro? Ableton Link, arpeggiators, further rhythm and pitch generators, and more were mentioned, it seemed like the start of a big project but then nothing for 7 months. @JesperNordin restore our faith 🙏

I still haven't digested everything that Pro offers already.

  • Dear @Artefact2001 - it is the start of a big project, a little too big for the team and money we have;-) We do have many plans, the ones you mention among others!
We have to focus on our core tech a little more first before coming back to updating the app, but while working on that we have already implemented several new things that will appear in the app when we do the next major update. Sorry for the silence, but it's not for lack of working...
And as @mojozart mentioned - there is quite a lot you can do already;-) Even I still learn new ways to work with Gestrument Pro in my work all the time!

@JesperNordin Thanks for your comments and reassurance! Absolutely understand. I realise this forum is a demanding tribe :) Some incremental updates would be great to see though, would be a way to keep the conversation going here, and hopefully get some new folk on board.

  • @Artefact2001 - yes we hope to manage that more often in the future, and we have a looooong list of things we want to do;-)

@audiblevideo - videos are planned, and hopefully not that far off in the future!

By the way, I was really impressed by the ones you did put out. It made me really look forward to more. :)

I got it the other day and felt somehow I had arrived home.
Now I have a lot to learn before I dare to ask for more features - but I join the voices that cry for more videos.

    Bought yesterday: AWESOME App, really.
Please let us talk more about it, maybe with some incremental update as here already suggested, and teaching/performing videos. Thanks for the great Instrument you gave us and keep up the good work !

  • Thanks everyone for your positive feedback! We will try to get back on track with the app as well.

  • Yeah it's a great app. :)

I wonder if an AUv3 extension is ever discussed as a possibility?
I don't think it needs to be the entire app, eg no audio/samples etc.
Could be just the stripped down midi part (still not easy thing to add I know). You could have the main editor + audio in the standalone and the AU could be the performance midi part which you can save in AUM sessions etc.

    +1

  • @Carnbot - yes we have discussed it a lot actually, and it might happen eventually.
@JohnnyGoodyear and @Philandering_Bastard - our content master @Gestrumentsander is working on some videos right now, le't hope he can get them out there soon!

  • Guys are any of you recording Gestrument Pro’s midi output for further editing? If so, what are you using?

  • @Tones4Christ - Personally I record into my DAW's on my desktop most of the time, since I use Gestrument mostly to drive my larger sound banks there.

Is .sfz on the roadmap? I'm asking as apps like SynthJacker make it possible to create sfz files locally on my iPad. It would be a shame if I first have to create them, then have to load them on to my computer, convert them into sf2 and then move them back. It would be mighty handy if Gestrument Pro handled sfz natively. Like Auria, or Zenbeats, BS-16i etc. Not critical of course, but handy.

  • Does bs-16i handle sfz? I thought it was sf2

It is. I was confused, but was just, sadly, confirming exactly what you said.
