Almost all of the Virsyn apps are on sale, up to 50% off.

How do you compare iVoxel to VoxSyn Pro (other than AU)?

I only own VoxSyn Pro, and it seems to be good, but I had no time to dig it enough.

Anyone have any info/opinions on the SessionBand stuff? I've looked at them several times but never picked any of them up.

The GUI hasn’t changed since os9, but that doesn’t matter. Just sort of feels kludgey.
Great session players for each of the genres. Lots of styles and variations. Great playing.
I using ‘em for inspiration and sketching out a song.
Feels like cheating if I use them in a track but that’s just me.

    There’s a TB Bundle?

I feel certain that I saw one earlier in the fall. Next time I considered buying TB apps was BF, when a lot of bundles left the App Store.

I’ve put Tonality on sale again as well

    Really liking Tonality.

  • Gotcha. You might have. I actually check for a TB bundle once in awhile because I have EQ love it, and want more TB. Never seen it but it’s possible, that’s why I was like hold up is there one.... lol. hope one comes around soon...

  • @ahallam Yea Tonality is a great value, very useful

  • I bought the 3 jazz ones on their last sale and they’re ok. I’m not sure why tbh but I just didn’t get along with them. The idea seems a good one but I didn’t immediately take to the the interface and the chord content lacks in choice for what I needed. I’ve used iReal Pro - ok but a bit one dimensional ‘feel’ wise - but excellent to punch some chords in quickly to jam along to. On desktop I use Band in a Box 2019 and with the addition of Real Tracks there’s nothing on iOS to beat it in my humble opinion! I haven’t tried any of the other SB stuff. Ymmv and at the current price probably worth a punt!

Thanks! That validates my take on them. I have iReal Pro on iOS and have the whole hog BIAB on Mac, so this doesn’t really offer anything new but lies in the middle.

  • They can be good for when you just can't take the lifeless no-frills iRealPro sounds any more and actually want something on iOS that sounds a bit more like music. I've accumulated them all over the years thanks to the frequent sales and (unexpectedly) find I like the Ukelele one best, and the Blues better than the three Jazz.

  • I’m not a huge fan of session band, but then again I haven’t taken much time to dig into it.

  • D1 is also down to $7.99

  • Going to grab that if I get an iTunes card from Santa

How do you compare iVoxel to VoxSyn Pro (other than AU)?

Different workflows and different outcomes. iVoxel seems to have two modes. One relies upon Voxels, which are snippets of sounds and then it mangles them from there. The other mode uses a built in sequencer that chooses the pitch of either the voxel or the live input. You can see it in action here:

VoxSyn has a hexaganol manipulation screen that tracks the incoming sound/voice and tells you its approximate pitch. By pressing the buttons you can then adjust the pitch to your liking. You can mangle the sounds any way you like. I must say I like VoxSyn Pro and how fast it recognizes the pitch and then adjusts the outcome. It doesn't hurt that it is AU and therefore can be used for a lot more than I think, including my guitar!

  • Did the toneboosters ever do a sale? Really got intrigued when I read about then reelbus

The EQ + Reverb were $1.00 cheaper on launch but the rest haven't changed. If they did have a bundle I'd grab them all.. ReelBus is definitely on my short list..

  • @royor maybe we will be lucky :)
But yeah, i would say it’s on my shortlist too.

  • Just to chime in, the TB stuff is more than worth it at full price even without sales or bundles

  • edited December 2019

Toneboosters permanently available at ridiculously low prices.

Do some research on the developer if you’re wondering why they sound so expensive.

The price is so low given the high-quality, the every day price i> @JackDwyerburger said:

They have priced their apps so inexpensively (and are of such high quality) I wouldn't expect sales.

Yeah I don’t think there will be sales... I don’t think they are too expensive btw. But I spent it all - need to watch a bit on my spendings

And now that I just bought EQ and Barricade, I’ll have to take FF off my price drop watchlist.

Toneboosters EQ sounds fantastic. I’m unhappy with Apple’s CAD pricing in general, but 11 bucks is an absolute steal.

  • Gospel Musicians stuff just went on sale too...
