Also Gospel Music people apps who do Neo-Soul keys - 50% off!
Don’t think this has been mentioned

I snagged Neo-Soul keys first thing this morning when I saw it was half off. Been on my short list for a while.
Does anybody know if I can get something like a good basic clean grand piano sound from any of these?

Just would be a bonus, havent had the time to dig around yet but I have been looking for a good clear piano sound for writing and learning.
Right now I am using Piano 9 preset in KQ Dixie. It actually sounds very nice but I read a thread on here where someone said the piano IAP in beathawk can make them cry if they play a sad song in minor. So that’s my new standard for
    Piano sound quality

Looks like Kai Aras put freshly launched Shockwave back on sale too! If you haven't got it yet and are waiting for it to run on iPhone, I've indeed seen a beta running on an iPhone. Not sure when it'll be released... wasn't quite there yet, but it's very close! :)

Gah! I'm so broke til payday on 28th. I really want Shockwave and iMPC Pro (and probably a few others!)
Hoping they're on sale a few more days...

About time for a Cubasis 3 sale too 😅

He put a few codes up earlier for Shockwave on Slack chat very generous from a great Dev.

I dunno what slack is but more than willing to pay 9.99 once I've got some cash.

It's funny innit really. I've got more disposable income than I've ever had (apart from this month) and this kinda thing has never been cheaper (I paid £600 for Cubase on Atari in 1990 - whats that £1000/1200 in today's money?) and here I am faffing around about saving a few quid...

No acoustic pianos on NSK. Some nice electric grands.

Plenty other great acoustic piano sounds though in other apps. RC275, Beathawk, Salamander soundfount on BS-16i, Pure Synth Platinum, etc

Why doesn’t hardware have sales like some of these?

Because hardware is normally sold through distribution channels and the manufacturer doesn’t control what retailers sell it for. (Well, sometimes they try, but it’s illegal.)

Retailers buy from the manufacturer, or in many cases from distributors who have purchased from the manufacturer. The inventory they have they bought some time before now at a certain price. Individual retailers have sales to compete with other retailers but not at the behest of the manufacturer.

In short, there’s no centralized control over pricing like there is with direct sales software.

On the other hand, the Sensel Morph that my wife bought me for Christmas (though I haven’t informed her of that fact yet :# ), is sold direct, and was indeed on sale for the holidays.

  • Definition: audiobust (adjective): having no more money because of the many apps and related gear purchases. And yet wanting moar! 😋

  • Isn’t there such a thing that prices are fixed during Christmas / new year period and cannot be changed? If so these sales will last probably til next year then?!?

This says no updates or new apps for Dec. 23-27, but doesn’t mention price changes:

What kind of music do you want to make?

Well... in good conscience, i can only calmly and rationally say...

But more specifically, Shockwave, Pure Acid, and anything by Sugar Bytes, Korg, PPG, or Bram Bos will never steer anyone wrong. Erm, unless perhaps they’re making folk music, maybe. 😁

@TimRussell Thanks, I had the chance to get a little jam going in AUM and am already very happy with the purchase regardless ( my iPad storage space..not so much )

As far as a solid straightforward piano, would you recommend beathawk or bs16i so I get my piano sound along with all the other offerings of one of those apps. Or is it worth going for the RC275.

I have read about RC275 and watched some you tube videos. Just beautiful sounding.
I am hesitant to get it because it’s expensive for an app and I’m not a piano player, although been learning and I think I’m getting my first midi controller keyboard for Christmas (49 key Aurturia essentials) not anything for fancy piano playing but I would love to be able to start there.

If I can presume to have a “taste” I favor something less bright. Or if bright just hopefully not too harsh on the high end.

Hope I’m not going too off topic. Thanks for any advice!

Of course, I like good kits and chopping fodder well.

The 2 Rhodes (Brooklyn and Berlin) and the pure analog and pure digital synths boundle sound great.
The piano is decent and so is the Wurli, and the Clav.
The MSXII banks are both very good, but honestly at this price is difficult to miss something.

Thank you Faland... Picked up the 2 Rhodes and Wurli... Will consider the piano and clav.

Turns out Ive purchased the analog and digital bundles sometime in the past when briefly using BM3 several years ago; you're right, they're very nice. Have been toying with the idea of exploring BM3 more as it does have an incredible sampler; these packs will serve me well for the bread and butter while re-learning the app.

    Thanks again

    You’re welcome. 🤟

  • I just bought the two Rhodeses, the piano, and the various multipacks. Lots of GBs!

    How much are they normally?

  • edited December 2019

    .

  • The iMPC sales are tempting at those prices. I probably don't need it and maybe I'd do better to pick up BM3 packs (who am I kidding--I'll probably do both), but can someone give me the rundown on the versions? Is the iPhone version just as useful as the iPad one? Thanks!

The piano and Rhodes are around €11.

Not sure I’ve completed the download fully on the BM3 sound packs but that piano is the worst sounding ever! Sounds nowt like the demo! Oh well, another 0.99p wasted! (I know, I know.........)

You should play it with an hardware dynamic keyboard. The iPad keyboard tends to play just the FF velocity layer.

  • Brilliant - thanks @Tim6502 and to Doug @thesoundtestroom

@ajmiller - check out Doug's demo on how to tame the Beatmaker piano here: https://forum.audiob.us/discussion/26790/beatmaker-3-the-grand-piano-pack-iap-demo

  • @Faland cheers, yes I do play with a hardware keyboard it’s just I hadn’t sussed out the macros. See @Tim6502 post above.
