  • Inter-device audio through the lighting cable to OSX Works now after the update!

  • And finally we have MIDI - even BT MIDI.
iDS-10 is now a usable instrument. Yay.

Yeah I'm definitely happy about that. I figured it would come eventually and I hope they'll add MIDI Learn at some point.

  • Very basic MIDI support though. Fixed channels and no source selection. Good thing we have MidiFlow ...

(recording using Lightning->USB cable works fine though).

I can't make it work, every other apps work fine, even itunes, safari etc... but this app stays on the iphone speakers,(even with earphones pluged in) when I try to output the audio via usb to my mac ... Am I the only one experiencing that bug ?

I found exactly that. It won't even output audio from the lightening socket!

    Is this really true ?

If there is no way to get audio from anything but the internal iPhone speakers how on earth do they make the promotion videos ? Mic'ing the iPhone ? I find that very hard to believe given the quality of this:@Kaikoo said:

I'm so sad about the lack of out too, especially since my mac doesn't support "in" with the headphone jack, I'm 100% stuck there, so KORG PLEASE !

Maybe we should do a petition ?

Can't you just go into the audio settings and switch the out for an input? You can on my MacBook

My MacBook Pro retina doesn't let me set up the out for an input, no option for that anymore in the audio settings

    Well, ims20 sound better anyway ! ;)

    Dammit Apple!!!

to get the input through the 3.5mm jack (MB) you need to insert a TRRS-plug, with "in" on the sleeve (i think). Something similar to the Apple-Earplugs. It still works here, at least...

  • Wasn't Gadget released without Audiobus, only for a quick press release stating that it would be implemented shortly afterwards.
That is correct. But I'm seeing that the last three iPhone KORG apps don't have AB or IAA (iElectribe, Module, and now iDS-10). Hoping this isn't permanent. I like the look of this iDS-10, but it's just a toy without recording functionality included.
Doesn't iElectribe and Module for iPhone have AB and IAA ?
My mistake, iElectribe is AB. I can't verify Module, as I never bought it for iPhone.

My mistake, iElectribe is AB-compatible. I can't verify for Module, as I never bought it, but it's not listed in the App Store description.

  • Hi,

A question for both Nintendo and iDS-10 users. It may be a dumb question and a subjective feeling, but from the demos I have heard, the DS-10 on the Nintendo sounds better to my ears (“tighter”) than the iDS-10 app. Do any users who own both confirm this? I was thinking of getting a Nintendo DSi for this!

    Thanks.

I have it on DSi. Still use it. I don’t know about tighter, whatever that means; the limitations of the platform and the difficulties of integrating it are what makes it worthwhile to me. Same with Nanoloop on a Gameboy btw.

Yes, I understand that. Funny how we look for limitations to make things more fun.
So, soundwise, you would say the sound is the same between the two yes?

So, I just did an A/B comparison between the two. iDS-10 sounds more polished and is of course much better specified (voice synth etc.). DS-10 sounds more raw, more lo-fi. It could use a compressor though.

Thanks a lot. Maybe it is that raw sound that I like. I have been “blind listening” to a youtube playlist of a producer, with songs on the DS-10 plus and others on the iPad Gadget, and no doubt, whenever I said “I like this song, this sound!” and went to see it was always the DS-10 plus! Will have to get me one...

BTW: the DSN-12 seems to be more readily available. Would you say it is the same as the DS-10 plus?

I don’t have that, sorry. Looks interesting.

I have ds10 on my dsi xl.. it's a cool app, but I think dsn-12 is much more advanced. You have a lot more channels to play with with.. The things I didn't like: only 1 bar patterns.. and soundwise I prefer apps on my iPad..

This video is one of the best about making music with ds-10. Truly impressive..
