Their Harold Budd (moon and melodies) collaboration is cool too. I thought I had everything they'd done but discovered my Victorialand CD is missing earlier. Disaster.

Thanks for listening
@JohnnyGoodyear Wow! Well that was a bit epic wasn't it?! Style wise it was very interesting.i loved the whole vibe of it.Ive not really heard anything like it before.I loved the combination of the singing and the spoken word.lovely understated piano.Lyrically I have to be honest and say that due to my own lack of er..intelligence the spoken stuff was way over my head. Some interesting imagery but I just didn't get it.Sorry man. Its great that you feel comfortable enough to do the stuff that really makes you tick though mate.
I listen to a lot of audiobooks while I work & I have a hunch that you would also be excellent at that:D
@AlterEgo_UK
Hey man,I enjoyed both of your pieces.Especially...both of them:) "Shades" nice n spooky! And a lovely bit of piano and strings for your lovely doggy.
Very dramatic! There's a place where guitars and a certainly feeling of a violin almost can meet and chase the Devil away. I liked the sound you've got going on there. It did seem as though, if a play is three acts, that the first one dominated and, at three minutes odd, what might have been a five minute piece was brought to a close somewhat early (but then everything's narrative to my limited ears). Glad you ran something up the flagpole etc.
@JeffChasteen Welcome to SOTMC man!:) Nice track! Did you play an actual guitar or use thumbjam to play? Either way I thought it was cool and I liked all the evolving sounds in the background.
@JeffChasteen, Cool tune, I like the feel of it. I recognize the Thumbjam portion/sound/style. The thumbjam guitar goes over the background synths very nicely.
Nice things!
Man, I really liked your piece also.
In my opinion, it succeeds where Mr. Bowie's "Future Legend" regrettably fails to hit the mark.
Nicely done.
Thank you for your kind words.
I used both a guitar (an old Framus) and Thumbjam for some of the more "fleet-fingered" bits.
Brilliant! That's it! I'm putting all my satin jackets back in the wardrobe and going the book reader route. There's money in them thar half-moon spectacles
All silliness (on my part) to one side; thanks for the listen, I appreciate it.
Thank you for your kind words.
It is tempting to use ThumbJam all of the time. The only thing that prevents me from doing so is the fear of losing my chops. Ha!

@JeffChasteen cool track. Great guitar work and integration with synth and TJ,
@JeffChasteen: Welcome to SOTMC. Your track sounded quite oriental to me almost in the style of Jade Warrior (an old favourite of mine). Nice work!
Thanks!
I actually spent a lot of time riding around in a VW bus listening to Jade Warrior while indulging in teenage inebriation. All those years ago...
I just lost 30 minutes to reading old CT interviews. Came away with an absurdly amazing thing I'd never heard (of) before: Liz and Jeff Buckley did a duet. Was never meant to be released but surfaced some years ago.
Sorry I haven't listened to all of the music in the thread but @JohnnyGoodyear I'm with Monzo: my favorite JGY track yet. It made me feel many actual things. And that end? What? Who gave you the right to pull of that sort of transitional awesomeness?
HA! Synchronicity or maybe, better yet, serendipity. I was sent a mix-CD a few years back (remember that way of connecting timid souls etc?). This song was on it. Never knew who the women on it was. Do now. Definition of late to the party, but what the hell, all flowers bend in time....
Gracias.
Sorry to go on about EF and CT, this will be my last mention, promise.
You probably know this one already, but type 'Elizabeth Fraser Moses' into YouTube and there's a lovely 'recent' song to discover. But for a tantalising, spine shivering taste of what we're all missing, this is my favourite:
@JeffChasteen Welcome to SOTMC. Some wonderful guitar work in a sort of prog/oriental type style which is new to these lugs. The calming sounds underneath work really well with your searing guitar. Yes, certainly, is a top first tune & I look forward to hearing some more.
@monzo Thanks! the slightly wobbly synth sound at the beginning was an iKaosilator melody put through Master Record
Ah, very nice
Wow that's good. A bit floaty, but she reminds me of Jeanne D'Arc:
@JeffChasteen Nice opening track, well played and mixed. My only crit is that I would have liked to hear a little more of a journey, more of a progression. Look forward to hearing more of your work in the future.
Falconetti!
I used to practice making Artaud-faces from that same film.
It is a beautiful movie.
Thank you for your kind words. I am as averse to bridges as any billy goat or vampire, but am working on it.
Thanks again.
Yeah she does a bit, now anyway.
Yep, both on Spotify, happily, and I dug through as much EF stuff on there (and youtube) yesterday as I could. Hadn't heard either before yesterday though. And then listened to the first three CT albums last night. This thread set me off! Lost in 4AD land now. Thanks for sharing the video—really great to see the studio footage of her.
EDIT. MOAR.
"This Love" was new to me too. Same year as Mezzanine was released. She's great as always but it otherwise pales in comparison to the MA stuff (imho).
More EF bits to discover at discogs.
@JeffChasteen Nice tune. Well mixed and I really like the warm pads in the intro. Like others have said m, well mixed. Some good shredding as well.
@JohnnyGoodyear Wow, man. Just wow. Great job. Everything about part 1 sounds so pro to me. Part 2 is so fragile and pretty. Great, provocative, lyrics as always. My hat to you Doctor Goodyear.
