Your all time FAVORITE app:!:!:!:!:!:!

This is a tough question. There's so many AMAZING pieces of software out there in the iOS world. Some may say it's impossible to name just one app because they're so different.

The main reason I thought of this is because I'm sitting here playing with this app that I've been using A LOT lately and I think I can safely say that it is my ALL TIME FAVORITE APP!!! There's nothing else like it and it's the most fun and intuitive way of writing drums I've ever come across. I'm buying an IConnect Audio 4 just so I can use this app as my primary drum source.

The app, of course is PATTERNING.

What's yours ?

  • Samplr. Hands down.

    Turnado is a close second.

  • The big two:

    Samplr and Patterning.

I played hardware only for 15+ years. These apps blow my mind, and I am into my mind being blown. Original, inventive and impossible on a hardware device.

I'm picking Samplr for the granular strings and the looping of gestures in different lengths of time to add complexity. I pick Patterning because I've owned 8 different hardware samplers/drum machines and it kicks all their asses. Complex and beautifully simple at the same time.

  • Caustic

All-in-one, easy workflow, lots of options.

  • Gadget because it has some great built in synths plus iM1 and Module. I also like the fact that everything stays in sync.

  • Kinda torn on this....naw...Different Drummer ;-)

  • I'm going through a late 80s PPG fetish period, so Wavemapper for its pure ease of making stunning bass sounds.

Next month it will be something else.

I've been on the fence about buying this app... Is it really that good?

Also, my very close second and third would have to be Samplr and Gadget

  • M3000 because wafer-thin MELLOTRON that also lets me text and email and watch videos and stuff!

  • @TheoVoid Takes time and patience, but it's hugely powerful. Not for everyone, but I love it.

    @Fruitbat1919....loving WaveMapper lately as well.

  • Gadget of course! I'm even rediscovering it recently, using fx automation in the drum machines (for some turnado "like" crazy beats) and all those beefy synths served by the best sequencer...

Then samplr and egoist come behind... With sector/patterning/fugue machine/chordpolypad/thumbjam in the next peloton

Auria pro and cream could change that order ..

    I just named 11 apps .....

  • KORG Gadget would be the one app I could never let go of.

  • Blah blah blah etc...

    Gadget

Has to be. It's just immense.

But I also love lots of other apps eg animoog, patterning, ielectribe, audio share, Ab, Thor, z3ta, tc data, drum jam, auria, genome, MTS etc etc. Sorry!

  • iVCS3 then Grain Science a close second.

  • Cool. I'm currently getting into grain science. Would love to hear more on what you do with it @Bsteff21

  • iPulsaret. Very misunderstood, and very powerful with its ability to polyphonically transpose live input.

  • TJ my ever reliant.

The wife does this all the time. Has got her own powered hub and everything.

  • Samplr no doubt

  • XYNTHESIZER dag-nabbit!

Why? I like it too, but am not certain what if it offers over, say Step-poly-arp or maybe 100 others.....

  • Mitosynth, ThumbJam and Animoog!

I have a problem choosing favorites. St-Su: StrokeMachine, Sunrizer, Sunvox.

  • Kingdom Rush

Really though, try this: drone a C3 note on your Microbrute, MS-20, etc, tweak the filters and feed that into iPulsaret, and suddenly you have a very rich polysynth with unique granular capabilities. Droning C will guarantee that the output will be in proper key.

  • On IOS ? Audiobus !
Use it all the time, no matter what's the project...
